Gary L Merkle A Law Corporation
I was referred to Gary L.Merkle by a friend she indicated to me that this law firm is below average because of the attitudes of the receptionists. I even did a little research looking thru views that other clients had written. To my surprise there were more than several complaints about the professionalism of The Ladies Of Merkle on the reviews. I called on Monday 28 June to see if this law firm could take my case. The receptionist began to ask for info so I gave her my email address , I always have a problem with my email address because it's kinda a tongue twister 3 out of 6 people over the phone get it wrong and I can tell the receptionist didn't get it right. She told me that she would email me with what I need to bring in and she would call me back the day before before the appointment to confirm. Well this morning the law firm did call and I indicated I didn't receive an email so I asked the receptionist to please repeat my email address so she could send me the info I needed. To my disbelief The Ladies Of Merkle transformed into police mode by asking why are you so hostile and that she was going to write in my file that I was hostile and rude so Mr. Merkel could decide if he wanted to take my case. I wasn't surprised anymore cause I had read the reviews about the Ladies of Merkle constant unprofessional behavior. Mr. Merkle please sit down again and talk to The Ladies Of Merkle for the 100th time. I don't think she(receptionist) ever got my email right because she transformed once again into police mode barking orders and telling me I need to write the info down now if I wanted to know what to bring in. (What happened to sending it through email) 3 words of advise Proffesion Not Aggression to The Ladies Of Merkle.

I cannot really talk to much about the facts, but I had to write this review so that other people don't have to go through what we went through before we hired Carlo.Even though no one ever wants to have to hire a criminal defense attorney, it is, unfortunately, sometimes the only option. To make matters worse, in Cali, especially LA, attorneys are a dime a dozen. When my boyfriend caught a case a couple years ago, we went to five different attorney consultations (even stupidly paid $99 for two of them), before we met and hired Carlo Spiga. Carlo is, by far, one of the best criminal defense attorneys in California. The aggressive defense tactics he used at every stage of the case worked, just like he said they would. Even though it dragged on for years, and was hell to go through, Carlo's experience, patience, confidence and brilliant use of legal strategy won out. Not only did my boyfriend beat his case before it got to trial, but he got to finish school while the case was pending. And, he is about to begin his career as a nurse practitioner...again, with Carlo's help in the licensing application processing. Most important, our son did not miss any time or support from his father! Like everyone, I hope to never need an attorney. But, at least I know, that if I ever do, I already got the best one! Thank you, Carlo!

Carlo Spiga is a great lawyer and someone I was glad to have on my boyfriend's side when he got in trouble with the LAPD. Carlo's guidance and confidence throughout the whole ordeal was exactly what we needed. My boyfriend faced minimal punishment and eventually had the incident expunged from his record. Carlo is a really down to earth guy who is really good at what he does. Although I hope I won't, I'd come back to Carlo again if I or anyone I know faces any legal trouble in the future.

Law Office Jeffrey A Asidi
Extremely Helpful! I called seeking legal advice and counsel on our rental issues we encountered while renting home. Mr. Asidi actually took the phone call after I spoke with his assistant and answered all of my questions and gave his best opinion on how to proceed. I was very impressed with how straightforward he was in answering my questions and directing me. I completely recommend him.

They were very patient with all my questions and concerns especially Marita Flores... not sure why previous comment states otherwise; however I felt I got what I paid for great service and efficient...they have moved offices to Friar St and would use their services again if needed.

Tips & Advices
When it comes time to choose a lawyer, you should start by searching close to home. If you do have attorneys you are familiar with, ask who they believe would be best for you. After going through personal references - especially from individuals who had similar needs - you should broaden your search through public information resources. You can call your area's attorney referral service or check legal organizations like Martindale-Hubbell. There are other resources available online, such as yellowpages.com. You can check websites for client reviews and other third-party forms of approval.
If you sign documents and you come across a word you don't recognize, or you need help to navigate important employment or real estate paperwork. Also, during times when personal matters intersect with legal proceedings, you might need to have an advocate to prevent your emotions from getting in the way. If you've been accused of a crime or are in a terrible financial situation, you can find an attorney who will work with what you have available.
When you hire a lawyer, you're agreeing to work with someone over a certain period of time. The more forthcoming the lawyer appears to be with individual needs, the better.
  • You need to ask questions about how the attorney will communicate with you and what responsibilities you hold in the relationship.
  • The attorney should let you know the best channel for quick communication and you need to inform him or her when you want updates.
  • You should also ask questions to get to know the attorney as an individual in order to ensure this is a person you can trust. Ask about their legal philosophy and how he or she views the lawyer/client relationship. Ask as how to keep fees down or what daily disruptions you should expect from a long legal battle.
You need to ask about every possible fee that will come up when working with an attorney. You should request a list of all costs in advance so you won't be surprised by additional expenses like overhead. Also determine exactly when you will start being billed. You want to inspect paperwork carefully. If the attorney charges you for his or her experience, you need to make sure he or she will perform tasks personally and not hand it off to an assistant. Find out if the attorney has a flat fee or charges by the hour. Many civil lawyers work on contingency. Make inquiries about how the lawyer plans to provide service for your money and what you can do if you start to feel unsatisfied with his or her performance.
You can ask how many similar cases they have handled and if they have special skills or training that applies specifically to your needs. Lawyers can't mention clients by name, but you should ask for basic details about identical past cases. You should check their office for the appropriate certifications and diplomas. You can also ask how long he or she has practiced law and request information that demonstrates the practice's success. Look for precise details such as percentage of cases settled out of court.
