A-1 Automotive Service
My cars' serpentine belt broke while I was in GA-I live in Jacksonville FL. Ryan came out in the time stated and went above and beyond towing my car. He fixed my car thus saving me a few hundred dollars. He was so kind and knowledgeable and respectful to me and my daughter.. I highly recommend A-1 Towing! Ryan deserves a HUGE raise!

I drove in from out of town and noticed that my car was making a tapping sound. We googled an auto repair shop in Valdosta and chose Walkers Auto Repair thanks to all of the good reviews. They absolutely lived up to their reputation. Ms. Judy fit us in first thing in the morning. The mechanic was friendly and solved my problem right away. It's nice to actually be provided with trustworthy service nowadays. I highly recommend!

My truck wouldn't turn over when I tried to crank it. I just put a new battery in and it didn't sound like the starter. When she had her Tech look at she thought it would take them two days to fix it. I told her that I need to get back home, 2.5 hours away, before tomorrow. She kept the opened an extra hour after they were suppose to close. Once I got there to pick it up Mrs Judy walked me through the receipt and the Tech showed me exactly what he did. I felt the price was fair and the service was great. Thank you Mrs. Judy for getting me home.

I visited WAR because of the great reviews I read online. I took my daughter's car to have the water pump replaced ($248). The mechanic also noticed the transmission bracket was loose. He explained that it would need to be welded back together. I asked for a quote, and at the time I was quoted $525. I left the car at the shop over the weekend so they could fix it. However, when it was time to pick up the car, I was told that I was given the incorrect quote, because they had forgotten to include labor cost for welding. The initial quote was only for removing and replacing the transmission. I wasn't too happy that I was given a different price after the job was completed. And to add icing on the cake, she told me she did me a favor by breaking the wheel lock to have access to the transmission. A favor? Really? After I have paid you nearly a grand to fix my daughter's car?

Gary's Automotive Repair
I was broke down in an RV on I 75 near Valdosta Ga. On a Saturday evening. Everything closed . Good Sam club said I'd have to wait till Monday to get any service done. A guy stopped to pick up something that blew off his jeep. Said he might know someone and would give him my number and drove off. Never really expected to hear anything. Travis from "Gary's automotive" called later, came to the rv park where we were towed and had repairs done in less than an hour, including going after the parts himself! ( camshaft timing sensor). Very professional, courteous and all round good guy. Left his family after dinner to come save our vacation. Thanks Travis! You too Rodney

Pete's Foreign Otto Shop
The water pump broke on my BMW X5 so I took it to Pete's. They repaired the water pump, fan clutch and replaced my serpentine belt in under 3 hours (on a Friday) AND only charged me $200!! I'm so pleased with the end result and the customer service was awesome!! I recommend this ship to anyone looking for professional service and excellent repair work.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
