Engines Express
While on Vacation from Green Bay, WI to Hideaway, Texas with friends that just moved there, our van's emergency brakes locked up on Christmas Day. On Dec 26 at about 8AM we located Engines Express via Google Places on my cell, and via AAA's approved repair facility listing. Called, and they could get us in right away. By 10 am the van was towed there. Was told it may be an overnight job due to parts needed. By 4pm that afternoon they called, had located parts, and the van was ready to go! AWESOME! A later check with our local mechanic verified the price was amicable and fair, and the job was done right! (not bad for a bunch of southerners who only have to deal with salt on the table and not on the road!). The shop itself is attractive from the outside, and clean and organized on the inside. Can see into the repair area from the front office and it looked very clean and well organized as well. Mechanics all looked, dressed and acted very professional. Their extremely friendly and personable service put us at ease with dealing with people 1100 miles from home and that didn't know us from Adam! Highly recommended by us if you are in the Tyler area and need mechanical assistance! (The only thing keeping these guys from a 5 star would have been a killer price beating out my local guy)!

City Small Animal Clinic
I have used City Small Animal Clinic for 12 years, and have had nothing but professional and friendly service from the doctors and vet techs there. I have come to them with many problems, including a stray cat who needed to be put down, a diabetic cat, a cat who fell out of a tree and a cat with an abscess the size of half a tennis ball, among many others. In every instance, with these and many other situations, the staff was knowledgeable, helpful and prompt with information and instructions, both in person and over the phone. I credit CSAC's care with helping one of my cats to reach a ripe old age of 20.5 years, and with their great skill in making hard times a little less painful for me, as well. I've been satisfied with presentation of treatment options, and a great atmosphere there. I have recommended CSAC to several friends, and all who have switched have agreed with me that it's a great place to take your pets for care.

Skyline Cafe
If you like Burgers, Rubens, Fresh salads or a good Deli sandwich this is THE place to go. We have been going out here for lover 4 years and are always welcomed like part of the family and food has always been FRESH and perfect. When I say perfect, I've been to some places and ordered a sandwich and go back and the taste is not the same or they changed products. At Skyline cafe no matter who fixes the food in the kitchen it ALWAYS has you leaving with that taste of I cant wait to come again for another one Black Bean Burger Wrap. Becky and Larry (owners) really have done a great job with quaint little place and the waitstaff has always made us feel at home. Oh, before I forget, I eat Gluten Free and they have a GF menu (-:, and desserts are all homemade and they even have some GF Cheese Cake that is also sugar free but i swear it sure taste like NY Style Cheese Cake with sugar

Honest-1 Auto Care
Absolutely thrilled to discover this new auto repair business in Tyler. Had a problem with the chassis AC in my RV. With a long trip scheduled for the next day I was very disappointed to find that RV shops in the area either did not work on chassis problems or they were a week or more out on scheduling. We contacted Nathan at Honest 1 Auto and he had us on the road 4 hours later. While there we met the owner, Larry, and found him a delight to talk to. We will be taking all of our vehicles here in the future. Do yourself a favor and check this place out when you're in need of service on your vehicle.!! Gerald and Janice Parker - Tyler Texas

Animal Medical Center Of Tyler
Animal Medical Center is the most awesome vet clinic!! Both Dr's Cauthen and Cooper, as well as the staff, have offered amazing treatment to our pets. They are so gentle and loving in they're approach and make our pets feel so at ease. The clinic itself is a wonderful facility which offers separate examination rooms for dogs and cats. The costs of treatment are very much competitive with other local vets in the area. This clinic offers high class service at a reasonable price. I recommend Animal Medical Center to all of my friends with pets.

City Small Animal Clinic
Great service! My girlfriend and I adopted "Charlie" a couple of months ago and this is where her mother said we should take him. I missed out on the first appointment but I was able to go the second time and I could see right away why they were recommended. The doctor was professional, great with Charlie (who was totally at home haha), and even provided a great military discount. The assistant was also so lovable with Charlie and did a great job. Will return for every appointment. Thanks guys!

Glenwood Animal Hospital
There isn't another Veterinary clinic anywhere near Tyler that provides better Veterinary expertise than Glenwood Animal Hospital. The 3 doctors at the clinic have combined experience of over 70 years! They take steps that other offices do not take to diagnose illnesses. If there is somehting wrong with your animal, they WILL figure out what it is and if it can be cured, they will do it! I would NEVER EVER take my animals anywhere else!

Called them and got an appointment the same day. They were very professional, and very kind to me and my dogs. The vet was wonderful and explained everything very well. They were not as expensive as many other places and they got my boys taken care of. The Vet was very thorough. I would definitely recommend this Veterinarian to anyone needing a diagnostic workup. Wonderful service.

Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
