The Used Car Depot Inc
Great place to buy a car! I am paying and driving my 2nd car that I bought from this owner/small dealership, nice cars, very honest & decent owner/people, friendly but not pushy sales tatics, either cash sale or owner finance with down payment, also on the car you buy as any car place all used cars are "as is" you can have any mechanical repairs that may come up "as that is just part of owning/driving vehichles" she can get your work done for a lower/dicounted cost through her mechanics who are also great!! Although the cars I have gotten have been mechanically sound in addition very clean with the body in nice shape too..I do highly recommend. I am a 2nd time customer with no relation to anyone that owns the business, staff or mechanics she uses..strictly a customer originally that found them from driving by...good luck on your new car search!

Mike's Auto Repair
I am a student at UA and usually work on my own car, but if I have something that I don't know how to fix or don't have time due to classes or work, I take it to Mike. He does quality work and makes sure its done right. I have recommended him to friends in Tuscaloosa and even family that lives two hours away. I've never had a problem with anything that I've taken to him, and have heard no complaints from the people I've recommended to him. Mike and his staff are friendly and know what they are doing. As for price, I compared the cost of work he's done for me to those of other garages and even dealerships, and Mike usually beats their prices. As for the sign in the office, I don't see how that's any worse that "Trust the Midas touch." If you've got a problem with your car, I recommend Mike's Auto Repair.

Pep Boys Auto Service & Tire
I've been going to Pep Boys on Skyland Boulevard in Tuscaloosa, Alabama since the beginning of the year and have been thoroughly impressed. I use to frequent WalMart for my car issues but now my allegiance is with Pep Boys.Their friendly, fast service cannot be beat! I like the fact that the personnel- - especially Tim and Cortney, are so personable and knowledgeable! I will continue to come back for oil changes and any other car issues!! Thank you!! -- Desiree T.

Excellent service and great prices!!!! The staff is also very friendly and helpful. I went in for a tune-up (I hadn't had one in 6 years) and they actually told me that I wouldn't need one until I reached about 120,000 miles. Most other places would have just done the tune-up and charged me that $600 (I'm a woman and a lot of car places take advantage of that). I will definitely take my car there from now on (even for oil changes)

L & L Mobile Mechanic Services
I called them today this morning around 10 am and I made arrangements to meet the tech after 12:30pm and they got here right away and diagnosed my fuel pump problem right away. They then gave me a cheaper price on what I was going to have to pay anywhere else what with tow prices, labor, and parts. They did quality work and got me back on the road. I will definitely call them again if I need services.

Due to the extremely poor roads I burst yet another tire but not just one this time... TWO! I was in close proximity to Pep Boys on Skyland. They made thing A-Ok within 30 mins. Tim and Courtney had the best customer service and they made sure I left there in a much better mood! Will definitely continue to do business with them!

I took my car in for a routine oil change and the team at Pep Boys were so professional and eager to help. They pointed out issues with my vehicle that needed to be addressed. I was very impressed. Tim and Keandre did a thorough job inspecting my car. I will return to Pep Boys for future repairs.

Tips & Advices
Depending on the part and its overall quality, a good amount of money can be saved by purchasing aftermarket parts versus OEM parts. But aftermarket parts that are low in price might also be lower in quality and could do more harm than good to your car, or they may need to be replaced more frequently than a more expensive counterpart. This could lead to saving some money in the short term, but spending more than anticipated in the long term.
The type of tires being purchased is the most significant determinant of their price. SUV tires are more costly than average car tires. And high-performance tires are more costly than economy grade tires. On average, standard tires for an average-sized vehicle are around $100 per tire. Standard tires for an SUV are around $150 and pick-up truck tires are about $200 on average. Some dealers offer discounts if purchasing more than one tire.
Car inspections typically take about an hour. However the wait time can be longer depending on how busy the shop is. Call ahead for an appointment to avoid long wait times.
Depending on the manufacturer, certain aftermarket parts can be just as reliable as Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts. But one item within a vehicle, like oil filters for instance, could have multiple manufacturers and there could be inconsistencies in quality among them.
Costs of replacing a windshield can vary greatly depending on a variety of factors:
  • Vehicle make and model
  • How much of the cost insurance will cover
  • Whether the windshield installers come to your location or you bring the vehicle to them
  • Standard service costs of the windshield installers
Generally, newer and higher-end vehicles cost more to have their windshields replaced because certain manufacturers use modified or proprietary glass types.
