La Cholla Landscaping
I needed my front and back yards landscaped. I told Gabe, the owner, that in the front yard my top priority was nothing that would grow onto the sidewalk or driveway. He installed 3 lantana, 2 honeysuckles, and a bird of paradise in a tiny front yard that already had a tree in it. It seemed like to too many plants, but I know nothing about plants and he's the expert. Once they filled in, my yard looked like a jungle. They grow over the sidewalk and driveway. I cut them to the ground and they grow back quickly. It's embarrassing and the HOA is complaining. In the back, I said I wanted the middle open so there would be room for a swing set. I asked for a patio and plants around the edge of the yard. He sent me a proposal with plants in the middle of the yard. I pointed it out and he said he corrected it, but he gave his workers the original diagram. They cut holes in the plastic underneath the rock and dug holes all over my yard. When I caught the mistake, they filled them in without replacing the plastic. Now my yard is not as flat as it used to be and I get weeds when I never did before. The patio turned out great, but 4 of the 6 plants died quickly and 1 was definitely not the plant it was supposed to be.When everything grew in, I contacted Gabe by e-mail. He insisted we talk on the phone and we played phone tag for awhile. In his short e-mails and messages, he defended his work. He said I should have researched the plants he recommended on the Internet. He told me low maintenance doesn't mean no maintenance. He also pointed out that there are a lot of plants in a small space, like I asked him to install that many plants.I eventually gave up. As a mother of a young child with a full time job, I simply didn't have the time or energy to keep pursuing it. I paid him $3,000 and now I'm trying to save the money to pay someone else to fix it.

Bottom Ta-Top Landscaping
Your company work truck had a huge 10 gallon bucket fall off the truck and came bouncing into the middle lane, almost causing an accident on Houghton road. Unsecured materials and tools in the trailer being pulled by this sad excuse for a landscaping business is completely unprofessional and a hazard to all those driving around you. Step it up

Saber Landscapes, Inc.
I had an inoperative irrigation system in my home that required expert help. I called Scott at Saber Landscaping and found him extremely helpful. He spent about a half hour on the phone with me and gave me several troubleshooting suggestions in an attempt to save him from having to make a service call. Unfortunately my controller box was in need of replacement, and since I was going to be out of town, I made arrangements for Scott to complete the necessary work the following week. Not only did he and his team do a thorough job, he called me while he was on site to communicate his diagnosis, offer up repair options and answer my questions. Scott completed the work on time to the estimate we discussed and sent me a timely invoice. If you are an out of town owner, you should feel comfortable calling Scott and the Saber Landscaping team; they did a great job and I was very satisfied. I highly recommend them!!

We needed to have our entire irrigation system replaced. Caleb came out on time provided options and pricing. Super professional and we decided to use him. He provided us a schedule was on-time every day and finished a week ahead of time and the work was excellent. We are very happy. I will use him for any irrigation needs and recommend you at least meet with him. As Thomas K said in his review he looks young but does have "IT". It was a great experience and a great company to deal with.

Caleb came to trim my hedges and a tangelo tree. He did a fantastic job, and even placed the tangelos on my patio table that were cut from tree limbs that were hitting the house. Caleb was a perfect gentleman and professional. He may be young, but he has that "IT" factor. He works hard, and I will definitely be using his service again.

J & J Landscaping
These guys are scam artists. Showed up and we had to leave house. $180 check was given to them. They worked for about 30 minutes, left and cashed check immediately. Left two piles of debris in yard and wont return call or texts.

Tips & Advices
Employers must conduct all required training in a language and vocabulary that workers can understand. Training must demonstrate the hazards of operating certain machinery, like stone cutters and splitters, as well as how to use them appropriately. It's important to verify that your landscape contractor has taken the necessary steps to fully train its personnel and that the appropriate safety precautions are in place.
Check the specific regulations for your area, and verify that your contractor has the necessary licenses. These may include a state contractor's license, pesticide license, CDL driver's license and license to sell and purchase nursery stock.
Landscape work is not cheap, so it's in your best interest to make sure that it's done to your requirements and that you get the best contractor to do the job. Homeowners should know how much they'll need to pay for the contractor's service as well as how they will be billed for this work. Ask about any design fees, if quoted prices are fixed or estimates, and what the payment process will be. Clarifying these items in the beginning will prevent any surprise expenses.
Yes. Homeowners should require that the contractor submit certificates verifying compliance with safety, insurance, workers' compensation and drug and alcohol testing programs. This will give you peace of mind that the contractor has gone through all the steps under industry regulations.
Yes. Every good contractor should have a list of recently completed jobs that you can see in their portfolio. They should also have a list of references that you can contact, or properties that you can see in person.
