5 Star Termite & Pest Control
My experience with 5 Star has been very different than the other reviewers. When I first bought my old adobe house, I called a couple of exterminators to learn what my options were. Most wanted to tent my whole house - not an option I wanted to pursue. The 5 Star owner did an inspection and did not find active termites. She explained termites require a certain percent of moisture in wood and since my house was old, the risk of termite destruction was low. She gave me tips on how to minimize risk (install gutters, no landscaping next to house, removing wood, mesquite beans from yard etc.). For more than a decade, I had no termites. In 2014, a jug of adhesive leaked in one room of my house, saturating the wood floors. This attracted termites. I called 5 Star and a technician in a hazmat suit crawled into a crawl space under my floor and treated the wood. This was nasty work but the technician was very professional and congenial. In 2015, a toilet seal failed, saturating the wood floor beneath the linoleum (this was in the area of the previous infestation). I had to gut my bathroom and remodel it as a result of the leak. This year, the termites returned to this area of the house. I called 5 Star and the owner advised me to removed the dying china berry tree in my back yard where I believe termites were nesting and they re-treated the area under my floorboards. The service was prompt and professional. Because 5 Star does not do exterior soil treatment, I called another company to investigate soil treatment options. That company said they would not treat my soil because I have an adobe house with limited underfloor access - they wouldn't even provide me with a no warranty quote. My experience with 5 Star has been very positive. Especially for people living in older masonry homes who aren't interested in "the nuclear option", 5 Star provides low-toxicity treatment options and offers excellent advice on minimizing risk of termite infestation.

I have chemical sensitivities - and this is the only company that services Sierra Vista that is as "green" as it can get, but yet take care of the pests - despite our abnormally intense ant activity. I'm in new construction, so the activity is high - one treatment and the death toll was high. :) The 30 day re-apply didn't need much - even saw the proof that the friendly new lizard resident was not killed - It did get stuck in one of the garage sticky traps, but our regular, Marquise, was very compassionate and showed me how to remove it without injury using oil. I was warned when they were coming and reassured of ways to ensure that I could be there (or not) when they arrived. Marquise and the original "sales" representative were professional, very courteous, and thorough - and put up with all of my many questions with pleasure. I did have a misconception - probably due to my lack of sleep (new move-in). I was under the impression that the 30 day re-apply was gratis/free - included in the original spray, but understand the need to charge that. :) I didn't realize that it was a full re-treatment - I did know that it was for eggs and such. Still, despite the specialty green application this is the same price that I was paying 5 years ago in Washington State (western) for; I believe; the same treatment level. - I like their contractual options too - we plan to stay, so why not commit to a bit longer and get the best deal. :)

University Termite & Pest Control
My name is Pearl I reside in Tempe; and I've had University Termite & Pest Control for previous Termite issues a year ago, no issues. All problems were taken care of, now I have new issues with rodents of some kind. I called and was told they could be out tomorrow; I was kinda bummed. BUT no more than an hour later I received a call from one of their technician "Brad" He told me that he was quite a bit away but would come by same day JUST to take care of my issues and see what was going on. Brad was very professional and efficient with his work and showing us that he would take care of the rodent issues. He based a plan around what we had going on and not just an every day same old treatment. He took his time with checking to make sure there were no entry points and then proceeded to trap and bait. I'm very happy with my service professional Brad and enjoyed his knowledge on our issues. Thanks University Termite & Pest Control and Brad for Being professional and timely. Would definitely recommend this pest control service!

When we first moved into this house we had crickets and spiders galore! With our first child soon on it's way we definitely didn't want spiders or bugs in her crib or anywhere near her. The Greenshield people came to our door and my husband agreed to sign up for a years service at about $60 a month. I wasn't too thrilled at him just signing up for pest control, especially with a year long contract, but my mind was quickly change. Our technitian is Scott T. and he has done an excellent in protecting our house. After the second month our spider and cricket problem has disappeared and no pest has even come close to our daughter in our home. Scott T. is also very nice and makes sure to let you know exactly what he's doing and where he will be. Our contract is up in March, we will be staying with them indefinitely.

This company is great! Not only do they use pet-safe, environmentally-friendly products, their technicians deliver the product to you in hybrid cars! In the year plus I've been using their service, I have not seen a single bug, spider, or scorpion, whereas prior I would see a scorpion or two each month in the summer. They schedule services according to breeding cycles to ensure that pests are eliminated before they can become a problem. My technician, Scott, is extremely knowledgeable, polite, and professional. He always goes above and beyond to ensure we are pest-free. It's a pleasure to see his smiling face!

Dyllon W arrived at our home on time. For me, that is a great first impression of the Greenshield Pest Control Company. He is very professional and knowledgeable on the active pests within our community. Overall, I am impressed with this company based on my interaction with Dyllon W. Service like this is rare and I feel at ease knowing my home is pest free because of this outstanding individual. I provided 4 out of 5 stars because I am awaiting the results of today's treatment. Standby for a 5.

Service just keeps getting better. I've been with GreenShield almost 1 year and I am so thankful for the great service they provide. Our technician Scott T. always does an amazing job to ensure our home and property is best free. Kind, courteous, and informative. What's best is there is amazing peace of mind knowing that if inbetween treatments if we notice the slightest sightings of bugs, that GreenShield will come right back out and treat that area again. Thank you Scott and Greenshield.

I tried to leave a review on Google but it froze up. Cody is the best service technician that I have experienced with the last seven months with Green Shield. Today he explained the markers for black widow spiders and mice. So glad to him servicing my home - I feel I can ask any question and he will take the time to respond. Thanks for as great service.
Tips & Advices
Ask your pest control company about no-kill traps you can use if you want to get mice, rabbits, opossums or other furry creatures out of your house without harming them.
Many pest control experts now offer environmentally friendly treatment for your home and yard with insecticides that aren't as harsh for the ecosystem. Check with exterminators around your area to see if they provide these kinds of services. Also, keep your plants free from harmful chemicals by spraying cedar oil or soapy water on your flowers.
  • Dispose of garbage regularly.
  • Don't ┬áleaving food or drink out.
  • Clean up after spills as soon as you can.
  • Drain any standing water in your house or yard.
  • Regularly mow and rake your lawn.
If you find insects and other animals trying to get in through cracks or openings, use a caulk gun to fill the gaps. You'll also want to either use traditional bug spray or a citronella candle to keep bugs such as mosquitos away from you during the summer months.
The price for exterminators can range broadly since they can charge for a monthly inspection and treatment. The final bill also comes down to the square footage of your property.
When pest control technicians visit your home or place of business, expect them to first identify what insect or other animal it is that's causing trouble. After identification, they will inspect your building to see where the pests are coming from and locate their hive or nest. Then the exterminator will spray or set out traps and bait according to which pest you have.
