Kool Smiles of Tucson
We're pleased with the care we get at Kool Smiles. My kids are older and don't have the issues younger kids have with dentists. With that being said, the kids appreciate the professional approach. They get seen promptly, painlessly, and get what they need done in an efficient manner. It helps the dentist is technical and acts in a professional manner. I find this approach inspires confidence in the patient and parent. The support staff is nice and professional. As a parent and customer I appreciate this. Some would say the office is like a commercial business lacking that folksy I- know-everything-about-the-patient-outside- of-dentistry philosophy. Well, it is. It's no mom and pop private practice. This is not a bad thing. I had that kind of dentist before and found their treatment lacking. Not the case with Kool Smiles at all. They do an awesome job and I like the professionalism. The staff is not like your BFF, but they are super nice and customer centered. That is fine with us, the end product, professionalism is all that matters; moms and dads can do the dentist emotional support thing with skittish patients. I am very pleased with Kool Smiles. The office is proficient, priced competitively, customer centered, and does a great job.

Dr Jay R Lopez,DDS, PC
I can't believe there aren't any reviews for Dr. Lopez. He and his staff are wonderful! I was terrified to go to the dentist after being told in Safford (Bushmans Dental) that I needed to have all of my teeth pulled. So I stayed away from the dentist for 3 years, horrified at false teeth. Finally I couldn't take the pain any more. I tried 2 different offices in Tucson, and both were unfriendly or dirty. I was lucky enough to find Dr. Lopez because it was close. I thought I should be close to home after having my teeth pulled. ick. BUT! Dr. Lopez and his staff were so understanding and kind. I don't have to have any of them pulled. He has to do a few root canals, which I thought would be terrible pain, but it didn't hurt AT ALL. I have made more appointments for as soon as possible to have work done on the rest of my teeth. I can't wait to smile again. I don't know about other dentists out here, but I do know I will recommend Dr. Lopez and his awesome staff to all my coworkers and family. Many thanks to them!

Dr Jay R Lopez,DDS, PC
Dr Lopez and his staff are amazing at keeping abreast of current dentistry and caring about their patients. After numerous visits to other dentists and failing to feel a welcome or level of confidence I struck gold! From the moment I steeped into the office of Dr Lopez I felt a sense of relief, renewed believe I would finally achieve the goal of implants. I'm more than on my way to success. Dr Lopez takes personal care in each and every patient and his staff welcomes you with a smile and makes you feel special and cared for. I would recommend Dr Jay Lopez to anyone especially those timid in regards to dental offices. I drive from Sierra Vista to Tucson for every visit and I'm confident I'm doing what's right for me with Dr Lopez at the helm and I have no regrets and NO looking back! Thanx Dr Lopez and your entire staff for taking great care of me and designing a successful implant approach we are striving for!!!

Kool Smiles of Tucson
I was very disappointed. My oldest was having some dental work done and they wouldn't allow me back in the room with her with my other children. This was very frustrating for me. As a single mother, it is very hard to get someone to watch my other children. This is supposed to be a place for kids but they didn't seem very kid friendly. I ended up having to reschedule the appointment, which leads to my next concern. I told the lady up front that I would need to call and reschedule because I was unsure when I would be able to get someone to watch my other children. She said I HAD to make another appointment right now. When I tried to explain my situation, she didn't seem to care. I do not feel like this place caters to families or their situations, which is odd for a place that is supposed to be for children.

General Dentistry 4 Kids
This place is absolutely amazing! Super kid friendly. If I could give GD4K 10 stars I would! The assistants are wonderful with children of all ages. We met Dr. Chen and Dr. Kemp who stepped into our exam room to introduce himself and to say hi. Dr. Chen and Stella worked fast and accordingly during my girls cleaning and exam (as 2yr olds aren't as cooperative). My daughters loved the playground in the waiting room and the little toy with balloon Dr. Chen and the wonderful assistant Stella gave them.I'm sure when we go back for their 6 month check-up they will be excited to go, they talked about their visit for the rest of the day.A wonderful experience overall. Thank you GD4K. (Country Club location)

Kool Smiles of Tucson
I had a scheduled appointment for my three boys today at this location. The office staff was very friendly & very helpful. My insurance coverage just recently changed & staff was able to explain what I would be responsible for on my next two future visits. It's nice being able to go to an office where you can see that the staff really cares for the needs of their patients. I have been going to this location for a few years now but I must say today's visit truly made an impression on me because of the new friendly faces & spectacular customer service. Look forward to taking my kids there in the future! Thank you all at Kool Smiles East for taking care of my family today!

Kool Smiles of Tucson
Company really works with scheduling appts that are very convinent, The staff is all seemily nice. My only rather large complaint is my oldest son was not completely numb when they started working on him, this is twice now same dentist.. This last appt, I even had to take him to his doctor because they grinded on him so hard he was complaining his jaw hurt so bad it was broken.( it wasnt or my review would look way diffrent after 4 days he was good). My only other complaint but nothing on the company but it feels like you step into a third world country there so if you are ok with the constant hard stares while waiting for your children you will be ok..

Hohenstein, Robert P, DDS
I actually look forward to seeing my dentist! The staff at Hoenstein and Schartz is always professional and courteous. I am greeted with a smile every time. If I lived in Phoenix, I would totally make the trip to Tucson. I remember one time I didn't understand what was going on with one of my teeth, and Dr. Schwartz took the time to draw me a picture to explain it. That meant a lot to me. Recently Dr Schwartz noticed that I had some infection with a root canal, and did a retreat free of charge. Hohenstein and Schwartz has an invested interest in the treatment and care of their patients that in my opinion reaches far beyond just dentistry.

Half Dental Tucson
I was in town for business and was in some serious pain. The hotel staff recommended Half Dental. They were able to get me in the same day and the staff was friendly once I arrived. The dentist was able to diagnosis the problem quickly and told me my options. I didn't feel any pressure to make a choice. The dentist explained each step during the procedure which seemed to put me at ease. The aftercare was explained and I was on my way. I still made a late afternoon appointment when a similar procedure in the past caused me to miss two days of work. The cost was extremely fair and I even received a call the next day to see how I was doing.
Tips & Advices
This depends on the prosthetic.
  • Dental implants, when cared for properly, can last a lifetime.
  • Crowns typically last between 10-15 years.
  • Resin-bonded bridges typically last between seven  and 10 years. Tooth-supported fixed bridges generally wear out faster than this.
  • Removable partial dentures typically last around 15 years.
  • Complete dentures typically last between five and six years.
The entire process for adding dental implants could take as long as eight months. There are three phases:
  • Phase 1: Grafting. This may take between three and six  months.
  • Phase 2: Artificial root placement. This may take one to two  hours to complete and will take between three and six  months to heal.
  • Phase 3: Crown placement. This is usually done over the course of two visits, two weeks apart.
One dental implant typically costs $1,000-$3,000. However, the abutment (a connector added onto the top of a dental implant) and crown can add $500-$3,000. Multiple dental implants may cost $3,000-$30,000. A full set of implant dentures may cost as much as $90,000, though the average is around $34,000.
A dental implant is a titanium post shaped like a natural tooth's root that is surgically inserted into the jawbone beneath the gums. These posts allow dentists to secure a replacement tooth or bridge in the correct position.
Maxillofacial prosthesis is a subspecialty of prosthodontics. A maxillofacial prosthesis is meant to rehabilitate patients who have defects or disabilities due to trauma, disease, or those that a patient is has from birth. The prosthesis is designed to replace parts of the bone or tissue that are missing, or to help restore functions of the mouth, such as swallowing, chewing, or speaking. Other prostheses are created to protect the face during radiation therapy. Dentists that work with maxillofacial prostheses often collaborate closely with ear, nose, and throat doctors.
