I am writing this letter to you to say thank you for all you have done to help me heal. I feel so very blessed to have met you. When I heard you were a Chiropractor, I figured why not share with you about the chronic pain I have had for my entire adult life, on the off chance that you might be able to offer me some sort of advice or treatment that I hadn't yet tried. As you know, I have suffered from severe neck and shoulder pain since my early 20's. I had no specific injury or accident that caused the onset of my chronic pain. I saw a Chiropractor in my 20's who used ultrasound therapy. On the lowest setting, it would send my shoulder into uncontrollable spasm I also tried cortisone injections in my shoulder, which didn't help at all. I saw all types of doctors over the years for the pain including primary care physicians, Orthopedic Doctors, a Neurologist, none of whom could tell me anything other then I had Myofascial pain and muscle spasms. No amount of painkillers, anti-inflammatory medication or muscle relaxers helped to significantly reduce my pain. At 41 years old, I felt like I had the body of an 80 year old. At rock bottom, I decided I had to lose weight to help with the pain I was experiencing in my neck and shoulders. After losing 75 pounds, I was dismayed to find out that I was still in a significant amount of pain. I felt that I was miraculously led to meet you last year at the fishing derby. You shared with me that you had a laser therapy machine that was showing a lot of promise with your patients. Figuring I had nothing to loose, I decided to give it a shot. You were so patient and understanding about the pain I was in. I felt like you were one of the first Doctors that really cared about my healing. After the first laser treatment, I felt immediate relief. Thanks to your writing a letter to my primary care physician, I was able to expedite having an x-ray and MRI of my neck, which did show disk bulging and tendon tears. I continued twice a week laser treatments, which significantly helped my pain. My primary care physician wanted to put me on Neurontin (Gabapentin), a drug used for Epileptics, which has also helped patients with nerve pain. I was determined to do what I needed to get well without major medication. You provided me with nutritional advice, health articles and the wonderful laser treatments, which has helped me on my road to physical recovery. I never left a treatment not feeling better than when I walked in. I would highly recommend the laser to other patients suffering from chronic pain. I thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for all you have done to help me on my healing journey. I will continue to see you weekly to keep my body stabilized and balanced. Thanks again for all you have done. Feel free to have any future patients contact me if they are considering laser therapy treatment.

I find it hard, to put into words, that express my gratitude for what you have done for me. I believe it would be best for me to recap the situation which brought me to you. In January 2012 I had Laparoscopic Surgery, to repair four hernias. Three clips were used to attach mesh to my pelvis and stomach muscles. My body developed scar tissue and calcification around the clip in the stomach muscles on the left side. I returned to work but, within three days I started to have pain in my groin area. As the scar tissue built up, it began to put pressure on the nerve leading into my left testicle on a daily basis. My surgeon recommended that I see urologist and a pain Specialist. Eventually, I saw three urologist and two pain specialists. At the point where the clip was, I received three injections from the first pain Specialist and one from a Urologist. None worked and, the pain in the testicle kept getting worse. Then the second Pain Specialist gave me three injections into my spine. Again, none worked and, the pain in the testicle kept getting worse. The only time I did not feel the sharp constant pain in my testicle was when I would lay on my left side, curled in the fetal position. Cutting the nerve to the testicle was considered. But, because another injection at the clip site from a Urologist had caused me to have even greater pain, my surgeon said that it was possible cutting the nerve could leave me with pain for the rest of my life. When I heard that, I started to lose hope. The physical Therapist I was seeing for the pulling sensation at the end of my left step, tried to break up the scar tissue through deep tissue message. It was painful and did not relieve the testicle pain. He then researched into subcutaneous ways of breaking up the scar tissue. He found that K-Laser treatments had success. Because of that, he found you. When we first met, I thought that it would be like all other treatments, useless. After your first treatment, I imagined it had helped. But in my mind I was fooling with myself with wishful thinking. After the second treatment, the same thing, I imagined it was getting better but, didn't believe it. When I left your office after the third treatment, I realized that my pain was actually decreasing. I have twelve of your k-laser and Ultra-Sound treatments. The pulling sensation at the end of my left step is gone. The sharp testicle pain is gone. I thought that I was going to die in pain. You gave me back my life.

I wanted to let you know how very pleased I was with your treatment for my back condition. As you know, when I came to you I was in serious pain in my upper back, right arm and was experiencing numbness in my thumb, index and middle finger, and tingling there, also. It was very difficult to raise my right arm and simple wrist movement created an almost unbearable situation. Prior to coming to you I had an MRI, x-rays and a nerve conductive test. The results of these tests revealed numerous problems in my back; protruding disks, degenerative disks, bone spurs, arthritis and pinched nerves were the main problems. The recommendation was back surgery where they would do a back fusion. From what I've heard, I wanted no part of this unless absolutely necessary. ) (I have heard too many horror stories regarding this kind of surgery) This is when I came to you and how very fortunate for me that I did. Your Therapeutic Laser and Spinal Decompression treatment, I feel, SAVED MY LIFE in terms of living with an unbearable back condition. As I write this to you I an NOT experiencing any pain. I still lift objects and move about as I did before this happened. Words can not express my gratitude for your help. Your caring, warmth, gentleness and understanding toward your patients needs is very appreciated. I have shared my experience with others and recommend you to anyone I speak to that could benefit from . your care. I hope others that may read this letter will not hesitate to accept your treatment to improve their health. I can't thank you enough for what you did for me. God Bless.

I was suffering from stiffness in my pinkie finger, ringer finger and right wrist, a burning sensation in my right forearm, the back of my hand felt itchy all the time, to the point where I almost scratched my skin off. I had weakness in my right shoulder. I originally went to see my family physician and my x-ray showed a severe curvature in 'neck and was diagnosed with a degenerated disc in my neck. My physician prescribed 10 physical therapy sessions, in which I received hot packs, was shown stretching exercise and received 30 minutes of traction. It did relief some of the pain, but I still had the burning sensation in my forearm and stiffness in my fingers. I was offered more physical therapy or a cortisone injection into the affected area (spinal). I hear a radio advertisement for spinal decompression and did further investigation of the internet. .1 decided to give it a try and avoid the cortisone injection. After the initial consultation, the prescribed plan was for 10 treatments. After only 2 treatments, I was feeling better. The burring sessions in my forearm disappeared and after 4 treatments all of the stiffness and other symptoms subsided. With one last treatment, I can say that spinal decompression saved me from an unnecessary procedure.

I saw Dr. Malkin over 10 years ago and before moved to the other part of the Valley. This past year, I finally moved back to Torrance and was having numbness in my right hand and fingers. Within just a few weeks after restarting the treatments, the pain and numbness were gone. I have been seeing him on a regular basis ever since. I appreciate that fact that Dr. Malkin treats the cause and not just the symptoms. He is also helping my daughter with her back issues. Plus I have referred several people I know to his clinic. I feel that the entire staff in the office are always glad to see me there. Dr. Malkin and his jokes always start my day off right!

Dr. Malkin and his staff are phenomenal! When I first arrived in Torrance I had an emergency. I woke up on a Sunday morning I could not move my head, the pain was excruciating. A friend of mine referred me to Dr. Malkin and I met him in his office that same day. After just one adjustment and a quick laser treatment the intense paid was alleviated. I've been a believer in Dr. Malkin ever since! He and his staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

My family has been under the care of Dr. Malkin since May 2010. We go in two to three times a month to ensure we are proactive in maintaining our continued good health. From the very first visit when I was advised to do certain stretches at home, we continue to not all be treated but educated as well about how to prevent problems. We are always treated with friendliness, respectfulness and we feel like family.

I've been a long-time patient of Dr. Malkin's, and I would highly recommend his services to anyone who is looking for quality chiropractic and health services. He is extremely knowledgeable about the body and complete health, which means he offers solutions for complete systems, rather than isolated symtoms. While other chiros may simply adjust you and send you on your merry way, Dr. Malkin ROCKS!
Tips & Advices
Scoliosis is a disorder where the spine curves sideways. Most people develop the condition during the growth spurt before puberty. The cause of scoliosis is unknown and most cases are mild, but the rare severe instances can disable a person.
Orthopedic surgeons attend four years of medical school, then four to five years of orthopedic residency in a hospital. They must also be licensed and certified in orthopedic surgery by the state in which they practice.
The terms "orthopedic doctor" and "orthopedic surgeon" refer to the same profession. Related specialties include podiatrist, a doctor who works with the bones, tendons and ligaments in the feet, and a sports medicine physician, a doctor specially trained to treat athletes.
The cost of a visit to an orthopedic surgeon depends on the type of tests ordered and treatment given. For example, an MRI costs $500-$1,300. An initial consultation costs $100- $500, while anesthesia for a procedure generally ranges from $2,000-$4,000. Overall, an orthopedic surgery can cost anywhere from $15,000 to $30,000.
During a consultation or first appointment with an orthopedic surgeon, the practitioner will ask the patient a variety of questions to understand the situation. The surgeon might ask about the patient's pain levels, medical history, and any prior injuries. Then, the surgeon will administer a physical exam and possibly schedule tests to better understand the problem. Possible tests include a stress test, x-ray, or MRI.
