Matthew S. Fullmer, DDS - Family Dentistry
Dr Fullmer seems to be more a salesman than a doctor. His responses to questions were dismissive, and all but one of his assistants were actually kind of rude.I arrived for my appointment fifteen minutes early, but was seated after three others whose appointments were scheduled after my own.I was given several x-rays, which required multiple attempts, so more exposure to radiation than I would have otherwise liked.During the course of my "examination", Dr. Fullmer took his time, telling me everything I'd already made a point of discussing during the scheduling of my appointment. Then, instead of actually Cleaning my teeth, as I'd scheduled the appointment for him to do, I was informed that I would require another appointment, and then asked to pay for my cleaning appointment, where I'd received no cleaning. They used several sales techniques to attempt a 'pressure sale', which I found to be unprofessional. If you look like a well off, upper-middle class white person, expect exceptional "Up-sale" service, if you do not, don't waste your time. This office judges you based on appearance, and while my money spends just as well as anyone else's, my fashion sense apparently has much to be desired.I would NEVER go here again.

Dufner Family Dentistry
Just moved to Topeka from California and are happy we found this dentist so quickly. I am usually very picky with dentists and like to have referrals but since we are new to Kansas we had no one to ask. I got a lucky Google search! The staff is super friendly and AWESOME with kids. Best "goodie bag" for kids I've seen :) Super clean, punctual and accommodating to even the biggest baby of my family of 4...ME. :) I have recently acquired a HUGE fear of the dentist and of course I needed 2 root canals so I was highly anxious and uncomfortable. The staff was very understanding and helpful and made the process more bearable. A++ highly recommended! Now to find a doctor I like as much...wish me luck :)

Dufner Family Dentistry
I have been visiting Dr. Dufner's office for over 10 years now and he his far and away the best dentist I have ever experienced. He is very knowledgeable about dentistry and I feel confident allowing him to do any procedure he deems necessary. His staff is always very friendly and accommodating. In addition to making me very comfortable and at ease while in the chair, Dr. Dufner has always fully explained everything he is doing or is planning to do to my teeth. Did I mention the place is always super clean...big bonus in my book. I find that he and his staff are the very definition of professionalism and I would recommend him to anyone!! Go seem them, you won't regret it.

Mitch Cooper, DDS
A patient for over 30 years. Dr. Cooper has always excelled in his professional skills along with using state of the art equipment. Any dental work needed is always done correctly the first time. Besides his expertise, he and his knowledgeable staff are friendly and sincerely care about each and every patient. They are great with young patients to which my grandchildren can attest. I am so fortunate to have Dr. Cooper take care of my dental needs.

Today's Dentistry
The staff is absolutely amazing. Dr. Derek has removed my wisdom teeth and even came in with another staff member after hours to see me when I had a complication. They are so attentive to their patients and truly care. I have only seen him and his dad since I was a little girl and can't imagine going anywhere else nor would I ever want to. My family now has 3 generations that see him and I recommend him to everyone!

Dufner Family Dentistry
Dr. Dufner saved the day. I broke a tooth early last Friday and Dr. Dufner took me in without an appointment. I was in quite a bit of pain. His staff is always professional - I went out of my way to write this because I know they had to stick around after they were going to be closed just to take care of me. I've been going for 5 years and I'm very thankful to have a good dentist.

My first visit with Dr. Fullmer was awesome! I recently moved here and wanted to find a dentist office I could feel comfortable at and this office far exceeded my expectations! Very open and honest and helped me find out all my insurance information when I was concerned about coverage. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!!

Tips & Advices
  • If a tooth decays and the nerves or pulp (soft internal tissue which helps teeth develop) become inflamed or infected
  • If a tooth is cracked or broken and nerves are exposed
This generally depends on any specific issues you wish to address with your teeth. There are toothpastes designed to whiten teeth, fight cavities, decrease sensitivity, prevent bad breath, resist gingivitis, and those specific to children (with lower fluoride content). There are also toothpastes that offer “complete” protection by combining aspects of many of the above toothpastes.
It’s recommended to get a professional cleaning at least two times per year.
  • Desensitizing toothpaste numbs the nerves in the teeth that can cause discomfort.
  • Mouth guard can protect against grinding teeth during sleep.
  • Fluoride treatment can be applied by dentists to sensitive areas to numb teeth and strengthen enamel.
  • Root canal can treat problems in a tooth’s core.
  • Surgical gum graft where a piece of gum tissue is removed from a section of the mouth to cover an exposed root.
Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but there are certain signs that can help you and your doctor determine if yours should be:
  • Wisdom teeth are pushing other teeth around, causing pain and misalignment
  • Cysts form around newly emerged wisdom teeth, causing jaw damage
  • Gums get inflamed and swollen, causing cavities and pain
  • Doctor determine from x-rays that wisdom teeth will cause problems in the near future
