Alexis Road Animal Hospital
I visited this clinic 2 weeks ago. We are blessed to have Dr. Raj around to take care of our furry four legged babies. My mom went to this vet last month with her sick dog. This dog has always been sick as far I know. My mom spent lot of money at other vets, but could never get any proper diagnosis. She saw the ad of this clinic in the paper and thought to give them a chance. For the first time, somebody could come up with diagnosis of Addison disease. Now her baby is doing much better with ongoing treatment. My mom talks very high of this vet. My own pets were coming due for their shots. So, I made the appointment with Dr. Raj with hesitation. I got the appointment the next day at my requested time. They were nice enough to accommodate me before my kids come from school. I had doubts and questions in my mind about changing my Vet; I don't trust everybody so easy. The day before appointment, a girl from his office called to remind me about appointment time. I loved that courtesy call. When I walked into this facility, I was welcomed with a big smile. It is brand new facility, very clean and smelled fresh. They had some pet candle lit behind their reception counter. When I was put into the room, Dr. attended us within a minute or so. Dr. Raj has very good bedside manners. He introduced himself and got on the floor to pet my dog. I haven't seen anybody examining the pet from nose to tail. His checkup was so thorough, nobody ever mentioned to me before cleaning ears or teeth cleaning in pet. He explained me every bit of details while examining my pet. I think I am fully satisfied the way I was attended there. Dr. Raj is best, staff is great and price is rite. I trust this vet, very knowledgeable. I would not hesitate a bit recommending this vet to my friends. Keep going guys, you are awesome!!!!!!!!!!Bear’s Mom

Dr. Raj was fabulous, he explained things to me as what he was doing to my cat and continue to go over things very carefully. Sara made my cat feel comfortable & welcome and not frighten. Dr. Raj give us various options along with prices, it was my call no pressure as you should do this or that. My cat BeBe doesn't make up to people, but she took to the nurse & doctor very well. I was surprised as to how well BeBe acted. I have meds for her for a week, and continue medication to help with her fur balls. I walked out of the Vet office feeling satisfied & please with everything they had done for my cat and myself and it didn't cost me a fortune. Very, understanding, caring & reasonable Vet...You guys are great there at Alexis Road Animal Hospital....Thank you. And I will be back! I highly recommend Alexis Road Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a good vet.

When I moved to Toledo and got my two puppies I found Heatherdowns Vet and I could not be happier, I have been meaning to review them for years now because they always go above and beyond and still my know dogs name every time I come in! Currently I am away from Toledo 3-4 months for work and have my dogs with me and was unable to buy their heart worm pills, one call to Heatherdowns vet and they shipped me some free of charge that day! They have always had a friendly staff, affordable prices, and quality service. THANK YOU everyone at Heatherdowns Vet!!

I took my puppy here for a skin rash after no help from the previous vet. I called Monday, they had us in Tuesday. There was very short wait time, 5 minutes maybe. The doctor is wonderful, very experienced, very honest. He's not going to make you spend money you don't have to. The pup was diagnosed with a low grade infection and the doc perscribed antibiotics. The staff is very helpful and knowledgable and I would absolutely reccomend this vet to anyone! I won't be going anywhere else!!

Heatherdowns Vet
I move frequently for my job, and have seen a number of vets for my doxie. When I moved to Toledo, our neighbor recommended Dr. Bart. I have so far been very pleased with his services. That being said, it seems a lot of other people trust him as well, and getting an appointment with him may take a few days. If you have an emergency, he is probably not the one to call. Rather, I have an emergency vet number with 24 hour service saved in my phone.

I took my tri-pod cat Tootie Taloose to Dr. Raj and he and his staff were so amazing. My cat doesn't make up to anyone, but she loved each and every one of them! They truly have your pets best interest at heart, and are very professional and kind. Dr. Raj works with you to find the most affordable treatment for your pet. I will continue to go the them. His staff as well are very compassionate and comforting. ♥ Love this animal hospital!

Dr. Bart and staff are great. While out of town my cat of 20 years got very sick and my fiancé had to take her in to be put to sleep. Dr. Bart called and talked to me over the phone and explained the situation and our options. Prior to this I always thought he was a great vet but his care and kindness in this situation really put it over the edge for me. I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a vet in the Toledo area!

The staff here are extremely nice and they treated us very well. Dr. Beth was very thorough and answered all of my questions, which were many considering it is my first puppy! She was knowledgable about bulldogs; she was gentle with him and kind. He actually had fun at the vet's office and loved the attention the girls (staff) gave him... I think he's actually going to be excited when we go back next!

Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
