Direct Tire & Auto Service
I moved to Florida from Connecticut in March 2013. When moving here I was concerned about finding an auto shop to service my 2007 Jetta. Having a Jetta I know the issues I would be running into as I added the miles onto my car. I lived across the street from Direct Tire and heard nothing but wonderful things about the service there, so when my brakes were going I decided to bring my car to Direct Tire for service. My brakes were fixed and luckily I got my car in the shop just in time before my rotors were junk. Tom was honest, upfront, and didn't jerk me around just because I am a female. In my experience I have been ripped off at a lot of auto garages just for the meer fact that I am a female. After my brakes were done, I had an oil change done by Direct Tire. They are so informative and let you know everything that is wrong with your car and give you the option to fix it or not. They are NEVER pushy or try to sell you something you don't need, which is wonderful. Tom never tries to pull the wool over your eyes like I have experienced in the past with other auto garages. I recently just went back and had all the spark plugs and coils replaced on my car. I cannot rant and rave enough about Tom and Direct Tire. Andy, a mechanic there is phenomenal as well. I rest at ease and know when my car is at Direct Tire it is in great hands. Tom takes the time to listen to you and get your car issues resolved fast, and usually offers multiple routes you can go to get your car fixed. I now have had my family members and co workers use Direct Tire for all their car needs. Everyone I have sent there has been nothing but impressed overall. I have even been in there dropping my car off and bumped into people I know in the waiting area, not even knowing that they go to Direct Tire as well. I know since March 2013 to present (June 2014) I will not bring my car anywhere but Direct Tire for all my future car needs. You cannot beat the service you get there from the minute you pick up the phone and call/walk into the waiting area, to the time you drive your car home. I have never been disappointed in any work that has been done, and always know Tom will take care of me and make sure my car is running its best.

Thach Used Tires
They sell used as well as new tires. I have only good things to say about them. I have bought a set of 2 used - 20" front tires for my Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo the first time... And a year later I went back to get another set of 2 of the same but for the rear tires and I have saved tons of money with them. I have used them the last two years and those tires I bought still looks good. What can I said? A friend of 20 years that own a auto repair shop recommended them and I'm very grateful. And if you need some work done on your vehicle go to ALTERNATIVE AUTO CARE on 7939 E Broadway Ave. Tampa, FL 33619. They are very good at what they do and the prices there prices are extremely reasonable. The owner's name is Jesse... Tell them Nixon recommended them and you'll be happy you did. There are many auto shops but ALTERNATIVE AUTO are very knowledgeable, honest, good service and their prices very reasonable - sometimes much cheaper - unlike other shops they will fix your car but they will also often say additional repairs are needed just to take all of your money... I know it has happened to me a few times with other shops. But if you don't mind to pay an arm and a leg with additional unnecessary repairs you are welcome to prove me wrong... Don't say I didn't warn you. But if TIRES is what you need visit Thach Used Tires... You'll be happy you did! Nixon.

The Tire Choice
I can't thank Chris and Matthew enough for going over and above for me today. First of all I called and had the most pleasant customer service from Chris. I explained my situation that I recently had some work done elsewhere and that I had been experiencing some very intense scraping and grinding noises since my repair. He told me confidently that he could get me taken care of and that he could get me right in. When I arrived Matthew proceeded to show me what was done incorrectly with the previous repair that was done elsewhere (which was very evident once he showed me). He broke everything down to me very clearly and we agreed on moving forward with the repair. While in the waiting room there were several times that someone came through and checked on me and communicated where they were at in the repair process. The manager even sat beside me and went over and above any customer service that I have ever received in an automotive shop. I would highly recommend this Total Care Tire shop to anyone. They will make sure to address your concerns and treat you fairly. I left today feeling very confident that the next time I need anything repaired on my vehicles that I now have a place I can trust will take care of me.

Direct Tire & Auto Service
I have been going to them for all my repairs for years. They are very reliable, and trust-worthy. There have been several times that I went in for minor issue and Tom was able to provide a fix with little time and cost. I just recently had a issue with a annoying squeaking sound that kept on coming up whenever I breaked. I dont remember the name of the part that was bad but they were able to deduce the issue very quickly and they had it fixed in less than 30mins. The part that went bad was about 10dollars to replace and the service did not take long. I highly and I mean Highly recommend them. They do not exaggerate the issues that they find, and they try to make it as fair for you as possible.

hillsborough auto repair
I was looking for this business's address to get my car towed there and stumbled upon this review before mine and was shocked. I've been to this establishment a number of times and have yet to see a business with so much proffesionalism and work ethic. The guys there are more honest then you will find at any shop, superb mechanics that really know their stuff. I've been to so many shops before nothing comes close to this. I will never take my cars anywhere else. Yes you might wait a little bit to get your car fixed but definitely worth the wait and the owner will always work with you. Thank you guys for all the work you have done for me and my family

Direct Tire & Auto Service
Tom is someone of highest integrity and character. This is a place you can trust with your car for honest feedback & assessment. I moved to Tampa three years ago & was fortunate enough to have found Tom from the start. When I would price compare labor and parts , this company was hands down always the most affordable and they do quality work. The knowledge of car mechanics this office has is vast and they are not greedy but truly care about the safety of their customers! Highly recommended!!!

South Tampa Auto & Tire
I've been here a few times and will definitely keep going back. The entire staff is very friendly and they are quick and reliable. They don't try to push other services on you, they fix what needs to be fixed which is great - especially being a woman and always worrying about getting ripped off. They are also family owned which makes me more comfortable. I highly recommend South Tampa Auto and Tire, and I will always go there for all my cars needs!

Tire Kingdom
bought 4 new tires here. slightly overpriced. was out of town when purchased. when i got home, i found these same tires online for half of the price i paid here. i understand that businesses are for profit and i'm okay with that; but double the cost is excessive. otherwise, customer service was good as was workmanship.
Tips & Advices
Yes. New tires purchased online can often be priced lower than ones at a tire dealership. Buyers can often avoid state sales taxes and locate hard-to-find tire styles and sizes, but will still have to locate a local tire installer and pay sometimes high shipping costs.
The average cost of a set of new tires is $637, with a range of between $525-$725. In addition, installation includes mounting and balancing, alignment, and disposal of old tires.
The vehicle is raised and the old wheels are removed, then the old tires are removed from the wheels. The lug nuts, wheels, and valve stems are inspected and replaced as needed. The new tires are mounted and sealed, then inflated and balanced. The wheels are then replaced on the car. The average installation takes approximately 45 minutes.
Agencies such as the Tire Industry Association promotes tire safety through advocacy and education to the industry including: manufacture, sales, repair, service and recycling. Seek a full-service tire dealer who carries a wide variety of tire types and brands and asks about the type of driving you normally do.
  • Move your car to a safe location.
  • Turn on your car’s safety lights, apply the parking brakes and remove the hubcap if there is one.
  • Loosen the lug nuts with a lug wrench (but do not remove them), raise the vehicle with a jack and then fully remove the lugnuts.
  • Remove the flat tire and replace it with the spare tire.
  • Tighten the lug nuts by hand, lower the car and then tighten them fully with the lug wrench.

Just a moment...
