The Cat Doctors
If you have a cat that doesn't like going to the vet, take them here. My cat normally hisses and growls at the vet office the whole time, but she apparently felt relax here and only growled and hiss at the end of the examine. They were wonderful with my cat. She had an eye issue, and I took her to my previous vet they didn't really examine her and sent me to a specialist. At the specialist office I complained about my previous vet and how they wouldn't listen to me on how to approach my cat. The vet tech came back in to tell me what extra test the specialist wanted my regular vet to perform and I mentioned again my displeasure with my previous vet, and the tech told me to try out this place as she had once worked here and everyone is good with cats. I took her in that afternoon to get the specialist requested test completed. My cat didn't have an issue while being examined by Dr Simonds and Dr Simonds found an obvious issue with my cat's teeth that my previous vet missed the day before all together. I left my cat overnight so they could complete some further tests that required sedation, so they could be done first thing in the morning. Dr Simonds called me to tell me what they saw preliminary from the tests, and she told me that if the further testing confirmed she would need to put my cat on medication and wanted to discuss administration options I could go with a pill, liquid, or cream format. Dr Simonds called me to tell me I could pick my cat up and to tell me the other test results would be back the next day possible the next week at the latest. The next day she called and told me the results of her tests and confirmed that my cat had what the preliminary test had shown, and asked after thinking about the different application methods, which way would I like to use. She called in the scripts and my cat was started on her new meds that evening. Quality service and my cat felt at ease with the staff.

Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Service
Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Services is by far the best veterinary clinic I have ever experienced! I consider my dog, Max, my child and he means the world to me. Unfortunately, an accident occurred resulting in a bowel obstruction due to a foreign object. After having surgery at another facility, complications ensued and he became very ill. We rushed him to TBVES, where Dr. Michelle Lentovich and her staff assessed Max. He was in septic DIC, which has an exceptionally low survival rate even in human patients. I was basically a complete mess and the staff was compassionate. Dr. Lentovich went over the options with me, but never gave up hope. Not only did she stay hours past the end of her shift to finish Max’s surgery, but she also saved his life. His chances of survival were still going to be questionable over the next several weeks. Max had a feeding tube, JP drains, a central line, and many different medications. Dr. Lentovich allowed Max to live there 24/7 so he could be continuously monitored by the staff. She would come in on her off days and off hours just to see how he doing and also cooked him food from her own kitchen to see if that would help him eat. Her daughters also created art for max’s IV wrapping! I was there for hours each day spending time with Max while he recovered and the entire staff at TBVES was amazing! They all genuinely cared about how he and I were doing! To top it all off, Dr. Lentovich and Dr. Kathy Meyer, the veterinary director, helped me tremendously by finding a charity fund to assist in offsetting a substantial portion of the veterinary costs. I can never repay them for saving Max’s life and the kindness they showed me. Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Services is the only place I would take Max! They are amazing!!!!

Oh my gosh!! Are we talking about same place I go to? The people and "staff" who left these terrible reviews obviously dont know Dr. Jims heart. Sure the buildings old but its only a building..... Whats important is WHO is caring for your pet. BTW.... They have done lots of improvements to inside of building. Sure he went thru terrble divorce. But most of us have been through that ourselves. Exes dont play fair and leave many BROKE and starting over from nothing. I can tell you that Dr. Jim is NOT all about money because I do cat rescue and he is very generous with his time and makes things affordable out of the goodness of his heart. Staff has told me he is incredibly caring and comes in each day greeting, comforting and talking to all the animals. Not to mention HE saved one of my rescue kittens from a leg amputation by doing STEM CELL THERAPY. There are no other vets in the area that do this and any other vet would have amputated. This cat is now an adult and has his leg thanks to Dr. Jim. He also trests cats with Leukemia!! Other vets euthanize. Treatment works on about 80% of cats. He does lots of this for low cost for rescues. We are all human. Give Dr. Jim a break. I am a legit rescue.....Not a family member or friend. My name is Meg Wilcox ...... Cat Rescue:)

Yesterday I took my Yorkie to new groomer recommended by two friends. My dog was squinting and could barely keep eyes open and vet office was closed. My vet was "not in office today" (something I am way over now!). We could not wait for tommorrow....My dad used to take our dogs to this office many years ago and my daughter's boss currently uses this office. I was amazed that Dr. Chambless was still working! I waited less time than when I make regular vet appointments and very thorough exam and treatment was provided. Roxy suffered corneal ulcers in both eyes, (likely from groomers chemicals in dip). She got meds, drops and is now comfortable. I appreciated fact that they gave me option to buy collar if needed and did not push one on me. Since I had a corneal ulcer last year myself and it was worse pain in my life, I appreciate the fact that I could get her seen immediately and will be coming here in the future. I found prices comparable with what I have been paying. It turned out great for me!!! Everyone was very professional and pleasant too! I will be back.

Busch Animal Hospital
Went to go get medication for my cat that had tape worms. I had always heard that the veterinarian who worked here was always so friendly and fair with all his customers that walk through his doors so I had to see for myself. When I got to Busch animal hospital, I was surprised at how clean the facilities were. I met the doctor and staff (who were so kind and courteous) and he explained to me the price for the tape worm medication, and he also offered a package deal special that also included the price for the office visit, rabies, distemper, and a check for worms other than tape worms. He gave me the option and didn't "force" me, so to speak, to go with the package deal. He was even so kind to allow me all the time I needed to make my decision. I'm glad I went for the complete package deal, cause his prices are definitely cheaper than other vets I've been to. I will definitely be back here and definitely recommend this veterinarian to everyone who wants personalized quality health care for their pet!

I come out of my way with my pet for the Dr. but, his staff needs a update on people skills. Never before have I felt attacked to the point I felt I had to defend myself and it was done in front of other clients.. I was even told that front desk staff had told me in the past about a test that needed updating which was totally false. In the past front desk has taken wrong information on meds I needed . I had to return and get the correct meds. and I kept my cool. They have also waited to call me until right when I was home already to let me know my credit card was still in their possession. I kept my cool again. When I first started coming to see Dr. I was so happy I had found a place that really cared for my little dog. Now I hope this bitter tastegoes away because I still do not doubt the Dr"s skills. I have recommended my friends to the Dr in the past so I hope they are treated with more compassion and thought because 1st impressions are not retrievable and this is how a business can be ruined.

Hyde Park Veterinary Clinic
Our Junebug had a persistent cough, and we had gotten a really nice letter from Hyde Park Veterinary Clinic for a FREE examination of a new pet. They are 6 doors from my house so we HAD to try them out, even though we had taken our Junebug to another vet for years. You can't walk-in there, which we tried....we came back two days later with an appointment. I wouldn't say the front staff is warm and friendly: they are more 'professional' than that. Junebug got her exam, they took her away for 2 minutes for tests. The vet was professional and knowledgeable, and she recommended $250 in tests to determine the nature of the cough. As we were walking out, we were stopped to check out. The young male technician barked out "$71.65" with no explanation of the charges. I paid. And vowed not to come back. So, if you get a letter for a free examination, you've been warned.

Cross Creek Animal Medical Centre
AS hard as it is to have to leave my four legged children behind when we have to travel, I did not have as heavy a heart when I knew they would be in excellent, loving hands staying with the Cross Creek Animal Medical crew :0) It is such a huge relief to know that my dogs are not only being well taken care of while I'm away, but it is so comforting to know that they are getting all the love and attention they truly need.Thank you, once again, Cross Creek Animal Medical Center for doing such an amazing job and being truly committed to doing it at such an exemplary level! You are all incredible people who I count as not only my vet who helps me take care of my four-legged children, but I consider you as part of my family as well!Cheers to each of you!Michele Monroe-Rowe(Maggie, Spencer, Simon, & Nacho)

The office is great since it is under new managment and ownership. Nothing has been put in the building for so long, but they are starting to make improvments to the clinic. The staff is very helpful and considerate. I know some of the employees there and the treatment of the animals always come first. They stayed for my cat that was attacked by a dog till after 9pm to make sure she was ok. I'm sure if you are a previous employee you must be a disgruntled employee, because they have really improved the facility and are making improvements each time I go in there with my cats. Dr. Jim is just the best and has changed so much he is really a caring person. I would recomment this clinic to anyone. And they are much better with their prices than anyone around.

Busch Animal Hospital
I returned from my first visit to the Busch Animal Hospital earlier today for my 7 year old dog's annual check up. Dr. Girgis and his staff are very caring and warm and I could tell they truly love animals and care about them. Their service was fast and the exam and treatments were very thorough. I really liked his cozy animal hospital, and I really respect that he truly cares for his pets and his business. I came on a busy day, and he still managed to give me and Nala (my dog) the same amount of time and care he'd give on a not so busy day. I highly recommend this vet and will bring my beloved dog here anytime she needs a check up.
Tips & Advices
Bring medical records and medications that your pet is taking. Also, you should bring your ID and a form of payment.
Yes, there are veterinary clinics that only deal with emergency cases. They generally take walk-ins and referrals from family vets.
Yes, emergency vets treat dental emergencies and dental trauma. Freshly fractured teeth are the main category of dental injury that vets consider an emergency.
To prevent health emergencies, experts recommend supervising one’s pets, and trying to make sure they don’t get into emergency situations. A majority of emergency vet visits happen because animals were struck by cars, bit by other animals, or ingested toxins. Otherwise, the best way to prevent emergencies is by having a go-to vet you can call with any questions, and being vigilant about potential symptoms (i.e. runny stool, or trouble walking) as they appear but before they become extremely serious.
Experts say that the conditions that necessitate an emergency veterinarian visit include collapse, seizures, inability to walk, partial paralysis, and any difficulty breathing (non-stop panting, constant coughing, hyperventilation, or elevated heart rate). Gum color is often an indicator that something is wrong--especially blue gums or very pale gums. Excessive vomiting or a distended abdomen should be considered an emergency situation. Signs of any trauma or excessive bleeding should send your pet straight to the vet. Lastly, for cat owners, urinary obstruction is fatal if not treated, and generally occurs in male cats.
