Pep Boys Auto Service & Tire
UPDATE: I talked to the Store manager Marcus and the garage manager Gill today. They were extremely apologetic when I told them what happened, offered to make it right and refunded me. Although I've been satisfied, this situation should never have happened. I recommend the company look more closely at their employees and how they treat customers.Went to Pepboys today to get four 10ply tires for my dodge 1500, after pricing several places pepboys appeared to be the best deal at $569.04. It turns out I could not have possibly been more wrong. The manager; Mike, gave me a quote of $569.04 (without giving me details about what that included), and said I would get a free brake inspection, alignment check, and that a free warranty came with the tires. All great news! He said it would take at MOST an hour and a half.I decided to hang out and watch the work being done. A young kid I believe named Karlo began the work. It took him twenty minutes to remove the first tire, and additional ten to twenty minutes to try and get the rim removed with the automatic machine. Finally he called over another attendant to help him get it removed. Then he began texting. I was getting frustrated at this point, since it had been nearly fourty-five minutes since the process began and he only had ONE tire removed. Another twenty minutes later he had put the new tire on the rim and loaded it onto the truck... only then did he realize he FORGOT to put pieces back on the rim.At this point I was LIVID and called over Manager Mike, I asked him if Karlo had done this kind of work before. Manager Mike said "He just hasn't used this equipment." I said "So he's never done this work before?" Manager Mike said "No, not on this equipment." I said "What the hell, why did you give me a newbie? I don't want him working on my truck anymore." Manager Mike said "I'll go help him in a moment." Several minutes later, he emerged from the back room with a bowl of cereal, munching away as he leisurely strolled over to where Karlo was STILL struggling to get the first wheel mounted right. Manager Mike continued eating and did not help Karlo at ALL, instead he watched him struggle to get the second wheel off. I stood there staring in horror at the situation, finally after about five minutes, Manager Mike realized I was watching and put down the cereal and began helping. When he walked back into the office, I told him again that Karlo should NOT be touching my car, I wanted SOMEONE ELSE to finish the work.FINALLY, another mechanic came over and began popping the tires off, and replacing them. It took him only twenty minutes, what took Karlo nearly two hours. Even with as quickly as the new man worked, I was still there nearly three hours. Finally when the truck was finished Manager Mike came back in. I told him that this was the WORST Pepboys experience I had ever had, and that although he had been nice to me it was clear that Karlo had no idea what he was doing and had no business working on a truck when he didn't know the equipment. Secondly I told Manager Mike that he was badly representing his company, as the way I was treated... a young woman with a truck... made it seem that his company put the 'newbie' on the woman's truck because it 'didn't matter'. Manager Mike said; 'It's alright!'When I get in the car, already angry that Manager Mike did not even offer me an APOLOGY much less a discount off my purchase... did I realize that I got charged for a $57.12 warrant that he told me was FREE. Not only that but I was charged for wheel balancing... how was that not part of the package? He said everything was included. If I had known the warranty was extra I would have never purchased it.Needless to say, a HORRENDOUS experience, I will NEVER be supporting Pepboys again as a customer AND as a woman. I urge other potential customers to stop and think before you patronize their store.

Michael's Imports
Absolutely terrific, Michael and his staff are in the business of taking care of their customers. I was terrified of buying a used car due to the horror stories many of us hear (or have personally faced). As soon as you walk into the door you can tell Michael’s Imports is different than the rest. When I walked in I said I was interested in a vehicle and Todd (awesome guy) simply handed me the keys and said, “Here you go, take it for a drive and let me know if you’re interested.” Absolutely no pressure at all there. When I did buy the car, I had some mechanical issues arise that they likely wouldn’t have been able to discover before selling me the car. When I called and spoke to Michael, he immediately sent me to a mechanic and took care of all my issues at no cost to me. Under contract he did not have to do that and could have simply told me it wasn’t his problem, but he is clearly in the business of taking care of his customers and doing the right thing. Bottom line, if you’re going to buy a used car, you shouldn’t look anywhere else. You’ll be treated like a human being and valued customer at Michael’s Imports.

Auto Xperts
I just visited auto xperts today and had them put on an after market part. After waiting over an hour for a 20min job and being charged over $60 dollars for just switching out a pipe, I was just happy to have it done. Then I noticed a part in the box with my stock part that I felt I remembered reading about in the directions that it should stay on but after asking about it and the mechanic telling me he was supposed to replace it I trusted the guy who was doing the job. When I got home I decided to look through the directions and of course the part was incorrectly removed which could have led to malfunction. I called and told them what had happened and they seemed very unconcerned. I just wasn't happy with the professionalism and would not recommend. I also saw one of their mechanics drive a customer's truck over a curb also with very little concern.

Auto Xperts
My truck was running very poorly, miss firing shaking and engine light blinking. I had it towed to Auto Xperts. Didn't have an appointment , just showed up. The service rep talked with me a few minutes, and said he would work it in as soon as possible. I went across the street for some lunch, and came back in half an hour. My truck was in the service bay. About 15 to 20 minutes later the service rep came in and told me they found a loose connector on the cam position sensor. I was only charged for connecting and running the computer for error codes. They could have charged me for any number of things, but did not. I truly appreciate the honesty, and how quickly I was back on the road. Courteous people...honest service...and reasonable charges.

Used Car Supermarket
Today I bought a gorgeous, immaculate Chevy Silverado from David at Used Car Supermarket. I consider myself to be a savvy consumer. I had driven several trucks from several places to be sure I got the most truck my money could buy and almost made a terrible mistake and bought from another dealer. Thank goodness that at the last minute David explained to me that the other truck had after market rims and because of the lower profile I would not be suitable to towing the travel trailer I am going to get.The other dealer denied this so I confirmed what he told me with the local Goodyear dealer. Had it not have been for David's extraordinary product knowledge I would be in an awful mess THANK YOU DAVID GREAT WORK!

Used Car Supermarket
A bigThank you to Robbie Andrews, Randy and the others at Used Car Supermarket. I felt welcomed, I was treated like Royalty, I was given the space to choose a beautiful car-low miles in mint condition for $6,000 like new to me with payments easily affordable-peace of mind. They told me when a customer purchases a car from them, they become part of the family. The customer then is able to bring the car back to the Used Car Supermarket mechanic/garage for maintenance, etc. The cars even come with a warranty. They do not have balloons, fanfare, come-ons etc. They even loaned me a car to drive across town to go to the credit unionand pick up my son from school. These people are just really nice to work with,.

Good Time Custom Wheels
Had my 2001 Explorer towed to their shop since it would not run. I suspected problem was fuel pump failure which is expensive replacement cost especially since I rarely use vehicle. NEECE found problem was pump but solved by mechanically agitating unit (rubber mallet tap to gas tank in near pump). Explained to me that ethanol in gas and sitting without being run often is culprit. Recommended use of gas additive to counteract ethanol and showed me sweet spot to apply rubber mallet persuasion should problem reoccur. They did not recommend new pump saying it would be vulnerable to same problem. They refused to charge me for anything.

Furrin Auto
When my car broke down in the middle of the night,I thought I was out of luck. I chose Furrin Auto based on the reviews I found and I could not be more pleased! Despite being very busy, they were able to take a look at my car the very next day and found the problem very quickly. The repairs were made and my car was ready by the end of the day. The staff was friendly and helpful and called me throughout the day with updates about when my car would be ready. They also didn't push into fixing unnecessary things or up-selling. I was very pleased with this experience!

Furrin Auto
My daughter got stranded in Tallahassee on her way to Denver, and Furrins was recommended by a friend. They saved the day! Not only did they pinpoint the problem and make the repair, she was given a phone number to call if she had any other problems. The bill was less than $100. And she made it to Colorado safely. we then got a letter in the mail asking about their service, inviting us to call the manager with his direct number, if he could be of help and with a coupon for our next visit!
Tips & Advices
Depending on the part and its overall quality, a good amount of money can be saved by purchasing aftermarket parts versus OEM parts. But aftermarket parts that are low in price might also be lower in quality and could do more harm than good to your car, or they may need to be replaced more frequently than a more expensive counterpart. This could lead to saving some money in the short term, but spending more than anticipated in the long term.
The type of tires being purchased is the most significant determinant of their price. SUV tires are more costly than average car tires. And high-performance tires are more costly than economy grade tires. On average, standard tires for an average-sized vehicle are around $100 per tire. Standard tires for an SUV are around $150 and pick-up truck tires are about $200 on average. Some dealers offer discounts if purchasing more than one tire.
Car inspections typically take about an hour. However the wait time can be longer depending on how busy the shop is. Call ahead for an appointment to avoid long wait times.
Depending on the manufacturer, certain aftermarket parts can be just as reliable as Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts. But one item within a vehicle, like oil filters for instance, could have multiple manufacturers and there could be inconsistencies in quality among them.
Costs of replacing a windshield can vary greatly depending on a variety of factors:
  • Vehicle make and model
  • How much of the cost insurance will cover
  • Whether the windshield installers come to your location or you bring the vehicle to them
  • Standard service costs of the windshield installers
Generally, newer and higher-end vehicles cost more to have their windshields replaced because certain manufacturers use modified or proprietary glass types.
