First Tire & Automotive
I've been taking all of the family cars to First Tire on Eldridge for several years now. I was going to another auto repair shop very near, but gave up on them (too long of a story). This is what I really like about First Tire. I had taken my wife's Honda to the dealer for some warranty work. The Honda service rep (as always) tried to sale some other maintenance need. The rep said my wife's Honda needed new brakes. The cost wasn't cheap, so I decided to wait and shop around. I took the Honda to First Tire for an oil change and asked the guy to look at the brakes. The mechanic said the brakes were in good condition and didn't need any work. He could have easily said otherwise. Honesty is so hard to find in an auto repair shop. Ever since then, I've had them do all my repairs. They even did some Honda extended warranty repairs. I don't recall ever having to take a car back in for a repeated issue. I can't comment on their prices, but I trust them to do the work correctly which is important. They do have coupons on the back of HEB receipts which helps.

First Tire & Automotive - First Colony
We were on a trip from out of state when our vehicle experienced radiator issues. My brother recommended First Automotive and Tire. The service we got was exceptional. There were more issues wrong then just a hose leak. Tom called me and explained the issue and asked me to come by and see the issue. He took me out to the vehicle and actually showed me the issues with the coolant system and explained all my options. This is true customer service. They kept me up to date on the progress of my vehicle during the repair work and were able to get me my vehicle back the next morning so we could continue our trip. Tim called me to follow up on how the vehicle was doing and I had to make the comment to him "what did they do to my vehicle because it was running better now then before I took it in." The mechanics there are great and do a very exceptional job. Cudo's to everyone at First Automotive andTire on William Trace. My wife has said she would drive the 900 miles from Omaha to have service done by Tim and Mark and the mechanics at First Automotive and Tire.

First Tire & Automotive - First Colony
First Colony is super in every way that is important to a customer and that promotes a long term relationship: a. Technical competency - they diagnosis and solve the problem the first time b. Credibility: The give reliable forecast when the repairs will be accomplished; never make a promise then come up with excuses why the repairs are taking a lot longer. If they can't get to the problem immediately, you know it upfront and make plans c. They perform the diagnosis and advise what the cost will be in advance so there are no surprises. Bottom line "TRUST": I know I can depend on First Colony to look after my vehicles, including identifying minor issues that can be planned and addressed later, sand that I don't have to worry about my wife and son being stranded alone and in potential danger somewhere. Tim, James, Mark & your team...thanks And, to not forget, thanks AAA for sending me to First Colony when we moved to Sugar Land

I needed an oil change and a state inspection. I called on Saturday to see if they had any openings (I work Mon-Fri 8 to 5) and they didn't for Saturday, but they said I could drop it off on Monday morning and because I work close by they could take me to work.I arrived on Monday morning and they were very friendly. I didn't realize I had to have my insurance switched over to TX before the inspection. They said if I could get it switched and have the insurance company fax over the proof, then they would perform the inspection. Everything worked out and the inspection was performed.Overall: Great Service, Friendly Staff, and Priced Well. I will be back to First Tire and Automotive (maybe a different location due to the one on Eldridge being closer to my house).

Custom Auto Collision
After having one accident and it being a complete nightmare, I unfortunately had another accident and it was smooth sailing with NO hiccups! I decided to take my vehicle to Custom Auto Collision, and I am so thankful that I made that decision. I dealt with Billy there and the whole process there was nothing short of amazing! They helped me file my claim with the insurance, helped me get in contact with enterprise, so that I would be able to have a rental car, and in no time, my vehicle was completely fixed and it looked immaculate! Thank you to Custom Collision for helping me every step of the way, always giving me updates and making me feel like family!!!!

SBM Auto Repair
I had problems with my engine due to high mileage. The shop gave me an options to overhaul the engine or a total replacement with a lightly used engine with original parts from Japan. I chose the replacement engine option and am glad that I did. The shop showed me the difference between my current engine and the replacement engine...highlighting the fact that the new engine was very clean and would last me another 100k miles (at least)! The service was completed within 2 days...very quick!I am thoroughly impressed by their honesty and the quick turnaround. I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a shop that is run honestly.

First Tire & Automotive
Marvin and Paul have a great shop. I have used their services for years. I recently needed new tire on my Expedition. If you have one, you know that tires are NOT cheap. First Tire was competitive, quick, and reasonable. They never try to add on charges or services that you didn't ask for or need. I asked for an alignment check. For a awhile I thought I was driving a wagon - Yeah RAWHIDE! Whip, whip! They explained the process and the results. Marvin was great. He made it affordable. Trust these people. They are good!

First Tire & Automotive
After we had our volkswagon service for the check engine light, we had the same problem after one week. We took our car to Auto Zone to have the check engine light scan for free since we were charged previously for the same problem at First Tire. We took it back to First Tire since it was still under warranty. The general manager, Robert, assured us that they would fix the problem which they did. We were satisfied with the service that we received. They have earned our trust!

These guys are great! Tim and James helped me out with my car after the mechanic I went to didn't fix it properly. They are honest, really helpful and they care! The biggest concern was safety for me, so I brought it in and they took their time to show me what was going on with my car and to help fix it. The first time I went in, they didn't charge me. I decided to go back to get some other things fixed and they did a wonderful job. Go to these guys if you want peace of mind!
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
