Hi Kurt, This is Mike, I am 1 of the managers at Farmers Feed. Sorry for the unfortunate predicament we've encountered. We however do not usually replace baby chicks as you were informed on the phone and on the big neon sign conveniently placed by the baby chicks. If I remember correctly you came in towards the end of the day, and I remember You to be intently picking the 3 chicks that YOU chose. So that everyone can get an accurate picture... All of our chicks are at least 1 1/2 weeks old or older. You stated that the white polish, (the chick that died) was acting lethargic at the store, but you thought it was tired. In fact you took it out of the cage 2x so u did have plenty of time to examine the chick yourself. At least you could have mentioned at the time of purchase that you thought something was possibly wrong with it. Instead with it being the last one you went against your gut and you took it. With the very nice sized flock that you have already, I am going to assume that you have some decent experience with poultry. So then you should know that it was 102 degrees yesterday, you drove approximately 40 minutes with them in a card board box. Then you put a heat lamp, on them when you got home, hung originally 8-10 inches above, then changed to 12-14 inches conveniently when reviewing us on FaceBook and who knows where else. So those were problems 2 and 3. A great way to tell if the temperature is correct, is to place a thermometer at chick level. This is extremely important so that you know when to make adjustments to your brooder. Now that we know the full story, not just your side of things, instead of us replacing a chick that we've only made a WHOPPING 45 cents on by the time you purchased it, IF THAT. I would think you would understand our reasoning as to why we don't replace chicks. And I did call 3 of those stores that you happened to mention in your review, and kinda weird, but they have the SAME POLICY we do when it comes to baby chicks...

On August 31, 2017, in the evening I purchased 3 chicks, 2 Polish and 1 Houran. I did notice that the white Polish was acting larthargic but just thought it was tired. Once I got it home we tried feeding and it wouldn't eat. It wouldn't drink out of the waterer. My wife tried giving it water from the bottom of her finger tip. It still wouldn't drink. I woke up this morning and it was dead. I called and the person I spoke to blamed it on me. I said it did look larthargic at the store and he said I should not have bought it. He is right, I shouldn't have, but I was excited about getting the last white Polish they had in stock so I went against my gut instinct. I had the heat lamp on it at 12-14 inches. He blamed the death on the heat being too hot and me doing everything wrong. Yet the other 2 chicks are doing just fine, eating, drinking, and chirping. I currently have 35 hens, 12 ducks, 2 turkeys that I purchased as chicks, ducklings, and poults from other feed stores and never had a death. We also have incubated chicks and ducks with no problems. This guy was rude on the phone and that is the main reason I am giving a 2 star, I thought about 1 star but I shouldn't have bought the chick and according to him it was all my fault so because I do take some blame, they are getting 2 star. Before we hung up the phone he told me they do not replace chicks but they are getting more next we so I could come back and buy more then. This feed store has a great selection but poor custom service. I travel a lot and have never been disappointed with the feed stores in Modesto, two feed stores in Jamestown, one in Mountain Ranch, one in Oakdale, one in Jackson, or the one in Escalon. These are all 5 star places!! Unfortunately, the first visit I have at this store in Stockton was the only feed store I have ever had a problem at. I do not recommend and will be giving more reviews on the internet to hopefully help others not have this experience!

Dr. Boden is an excellent doctor!! As soon as he came in and said "Hello Patches " you could see she was absolutely comfortable with him. If I had 100 pets I would take them all to him.

Thank you all for the excellent care that my dog and I receive every time we come in to your office. Everybody is so nice to my dog. We did go to other veterinary offices, but were never treated as kindly as we are at Dr. Boden's office. I think my dog is totally in love with Dr. Boden! Every time he listens to her heart, she is licking his face. Watch out Anita, my dog is in love with your husband!! We always recommend you to everybody we know that has a pet. You guys are the best, and I look forward to seeing you again in December. Take care and have a wonderful summer.

This is the best veterinary hospital! They took such good care of our little guy! And even though I've called a bunch of times to check on him and ask questions, they are always nice! They care about my baby and that makes such a difference!

Tips & Advices
Pet owners usually sign a waiver stating that any injury or illness a dog suffers while at daycare is the responsibility of the owner. However, most facilities carry liability insurance and pet business insurance in the event of a serious incident. To prevent illness, facilities are strict about requiring proof of vaccination and general health from a veterinarian prior to accepting a dog. However, in an off-leash setting, scuffles or fights might occur. Reputable facilities will often hire vet assistants who can treat minor injuries and under-the-weather dogs.  For anything more serious, a good daycare should make it a priority to get the dog to a vet, and get in immediate contact with the owner.
