1/2 Price Movers
To start I would like to commend Linda in the office for helping me and getting me a quote, all I needed to do was list all my furniture and she gave me a flat rate. I received a call the day before my scheduled move, telling me the time the movers would show up. The next morning I received a call from the driver ricky, introducing himself and confirming the time they would get to my old apartment. When they arrived i was introduced to rest of the team marty and Dennis. These three men wrapped and emptied my 2 bedroom apartment within an hour and a half. When they got to my new apartment, there was a problem with the elevator, which the super said would take half an hour. Since my apt is on the third floor My movers just started taking the stairs while the elevator was being repaired. They must have finished half the job by the time the elevator was operational. Professional, respectful and hard working, I highly recommend half price movers.

MX Movers
what a cool experience I had. This company moved me from New York to Hoboken. My move consisted of a two bedroom walk down that my girl friend and I moved into on our own a year ago. we never hired movers in the past, My girl friend however used this company a few years back and said that they were quick and efficient. This company quoted us a specific amount based on the world load and anticipated time utilized. When the move date arrived the crew jumped into work mode real quick and in a matter of 30 minutes all the furniture was wrapped up (except for our Murphy bed that needed some dis-assembly which took 30 minutes also). the whole move actually only took 3 hours ( that is one hour and thirty minutes less than we were quoted). I ended up paying less which lead to a better tip for the fantastic crew. Ask for viktor and john because from our personal experience they are very skilled and quick on their feet.

MX Movers
Moving sucks! I loved working with this company though. they were friendly beyond belief and just a pleasure to work with. I had to move my clothing store and needed movers to help with the packing of the merchandise. I hired this company through a friends recommendation and they were quite fair with the pricing and more importantly I felt comfortable with them from the start. I did speak to another company and it didnt seem like a good fit. I needed someone that could understand my needs in a time of crisis this company seemed very capable. do not hesitate to contact them and see for your self why they are quite the best.

Traditional Express Vanlines
What a great experience. This company really took care of my items. The over all service was beyond expecations. I had moved from NJ to florida and was not expecting a company to move me for a price that fit my budget. I got a few quotes and decided that It was beyond my price budget. I get a call one day from Traditional Express and they promised that they are affordable because they have ways to cut their expenses down. I of course removed a few items off my list but all in all the price was $750 less than a company that did not even seem reliable. Traditional Ex. Thank you so much for your reliable and fast service.

A.G. Movers Inc.
Great company!! I moved from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Staten Island, NY and it was a straight delivery my household items arrived at the promised time. There were 3 hard working young men who came and provided me with full packing services, once i opened my door for the company they took care of everything. They definitely do provide a door to door service. They have competitive prices and are very neat and organized. The thing i liked most about the company were the workers diligence they didnt stop until they were completely done with what they started. I am glad I chose A.G Movers for my relocation.

1/2 Price Movers
The staff at 1/2 price movers is absolutely awesome. This is truly a great family business. It starts with the staff to the team leaders to the movers. Team leader Ricky, along with Tyrrell, Lamar and Marty did a fantastic job moving my furniture. I was very impressed with the handling of my baby grand piano, it was treated as if it belonged to them. The team arrived on time and the entire move from loading to unloading took about 3.5 hours. I highly recommend them and their quality staff for any type of move, large or small. Their flat rates are unbeatable!!

They were professional, quick, knowledgeable, and efficient ! Made my move smooth and stress free! They definitely took the work load off my shoulders. The crew was John, Derrick, John C. and Louie, these guys were awesome and really worked well together! Look forward to working with them again for my next big move!

I was surprised to find these bad reviews on this web site, i happened to call half price movers because my movers didnt show up on the day of the move, so i called half price movers in a bind on the same day, they sent over a crew of four men, who were young however very professional and polite, and being that i am a senior citizen, they treated me with respect which was important. i would highly recommend half price movers to any one.

Verrazano Moving & Storage
Outstanding!! They are not just professional movers. They are compassionate, caring people that ran to our aide in a very unforgiving situation. They went above and beyond the call of the scope of their profession to assist. Their integrity and honesty will always be appreciated. Thank you Scott from the bottom of my heart. True champion of paying it forward. My recommendation is You will be my only mover EVER. BG
Tips & Advices
Yes, it’s best to empty drawers, wardrobes and chests before a move. Items always get knocked around a bit, and doors can fly open even if they’ve been taped. In fact, more often than not, movers will want to remove the drawers from a dresser--or disassemble the wardrobe to be more space-efficient.
Yes, it is customary to tip movers, but the amount varies widely. For full-service moves, a 5 percent tip is suggested, although, for extra service, some people go up to 10 percent . For small local movers, you can give each mover $10 for a few-hour job, or $20-$40 for jobs that take longer.
A bill of lading is the legal contract for the move. It provides a detailed receipt, in addition to a contract between the client and the mover. It authorizes the mover to transport the goods from one specific point to another, and it outlines the exact scope of services, with cost breakdown for those services. It also provides an itemized list of the inventory, and carrier liability protection for each declared item. Finally, it specifies the payment arrangement. Make sure to go over your itemized list extremely carefully before finalizing the paperwork--and get a copy of the full document. A good mover will go over everything on the bill of lading with the customer.
There are several items that moving companies will not move – those items will be listed on a document as “non-allowables.” These items typically fall in three categories: perishables, sentimental/personal items, and hazardous material. Perishables are food and plants. Sentimental/personal value is up to the client to decide, but usually includes jewelry, medical and dental records, personal paperwork, valuables and collectibles. Hazardous material is the tricky category, since it includes a lot of everyday items found in the garage, garden or kitchen. For example, cleaning liquids and pesticides both are considered non-allowable by many companies. Some go so far as to disallow nail polish and batteries.
A binding estimate means that the moving company cannot charge more than the stated amount, though they can lower the final bill if the scope of the job was smaller than expected. A non-binding moving estimate is more likely to wind up costing more than expected, since the movers can increase their rates for unforeseen variables like stairs, “long carry” and materials.
