5.The Tavern Restaurant
220 E College Ave
My husband and I went to the tavern for New Years Eve Dinner. $35 per person pre fixe menu with very limited choices. They sat us next to the utensil service station. Our table was so close my husband's ear was next to the clanking, dropping, and banging of utensils trays the whole dinner as a constant flow of servers passed right next to our table. Tables were very close together. My food came out and my steak had been sitting so long that the top was starting to look old and my shrimp were dry enough to need a drink of water to get them down. We live here for 5 years and the tavern use to be our favorite restaurant. But know a days they are more concern with how many people they can get in and out instead of the quality of there food and service. It is a cattle trap. The restaurant should be taken out of the fine dinning category.

11.American Ale House & Grill

This is probably one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. The food is amazing, It's a bit pricey, but they have more selection as far as food than a chain restaurant! Well worth the money. Awesome setting and a great place to get away from the college crowd. If you enjoy good food, give it a try. :-)

The company opened up in June 2005 in Penn State (State College PA), and due to the high demand a 2nd location was opened in 2006 on the other side of the town. Are U Hungry became the hottest late night spot around PSU, and in a recent poll, the customers of LionMenus.com rated Are U Hungry to have the Best Late Night Delivery Food as well as The Best Hot Sandwiches and Subs.We are famous for our Fat Sandwiches and just like it sounds, they're pretty big. 13.Hoss's Steak & Sea House

Hoss's steak house offers quite a few selections of steak and seafood. I think their big draw though is the salad bar. It's hard not to stuff yourself with the good food available!

18.Garfield's Restaurant & Pub
Nittany Apt 2901 East College Avenue
228 W College Ave
The only problem with this place is that it is tooooooo small. That leads to an eat and get out atmosphere unless you visit while PSU is out of session. Food excellent. Service quick and complete. Friendly staff who remember their customers. It actually seems overstaff for its size until you see the steady stream of carryout orders. Been there >30 times since they opened about 1/1/14. Just one bad meal. we love it.
20.Troy's Philly Shop

23.100 Degree Hot Pot
428 Westerly Pkwy
Great food, Service is so haphazard it is funny. One of the three main dishes was served without rice, She went to fetch and forgot to bring the requested forks. When the next waitress brought out the second dish, the first remember the forks. THIS IS AN IMPROVEMENT OVER PREVIOUS VISITS. That said my family and friends have taken to looking at the service as a fun thing to talk about. The Hot Pot is a great place to spend an afternoon with friends slowly cooking and eating while talking. Bring your own bottle if alcohol is needed. Come for the food, enjoy the service
24.Ye Olde College Diner
126 W College Ave
great stickeys! service on a scale of 1-10...1 and if you like burned bacon this is the place
147 S Allen St
This is the worst experience with any restaurant I have ever experienced. Do not order delivery from this establishment. I ordered delivery from China Dragon yesterday and my girlfriend and I proceeded to starve waiting for over an hour and a half for them to drive the food the four blocks to my apartment. I literally could have walked there in two to three minutes. About an hour in I tried to call to cancel the order to just get food from somewhere else, but the woman told me the food was on the way and hung up on me as soon as I said I was calling about a delivery order I placed. I had placed the order online and tipped generously when I placed the order, so when we finally got the food about an hour and 40 minutes after placing the order I called China Dragon to cancel the tip, as you can imagine--I wasn't pleased with the service. I was completely calm and respectful in my call, and yet the woman who answered argued with, yelled at and berated me. She refused to cancel the tip, she said I would have to contact online, but refused to give me an email, number, or explain further, and instead yelled and hung up on me. I called back to attempt to get the number but again she yelled loudly, insulted and hung up. I was completely calm and collected through all of this and simply asked for the number. Upon calling a third time - no answer. This went on for several attempts, and then a man answered. I calmly and respectfully asked how I might cancel the generous tip I had given for the poor service. Different person, but more of the same. Yelling, berating and insulting. It was disgusting. This is the least professional and most disrespectful establishment. Horrendous customer service. Then the food: Well, as you can imagine, it was cold on delivery. Not only that, but it was very bad. Although I knew I would never do business with China Dragon ever again by any circumstance, I did give it a chance. However, it was just so bad. The fried rice was the worst I've ever encountered and the orange chicken was just terrible. My girlfriend had the broccoli and shrimp, which was nothing special. I never did get the tip back, and instead came here so that others might learn from my experience. The food honestly made me sick - physically ill. And I'm not being biased from the terrible customer service either. There are tons of asian food choices in State College - take my advice and stay away from this dump. Horrible hospitality and horrible food - just terrible people from my experience. If you want good asian food try Hunan Wok & Okinawa, they are cheaper, much better food and much better service - delivery usually takes about 10 minutes and they are much further from me than China Dragon. Maki Yaki is also very good. Even Uncle Chen's has better asian food. Order/Eat at China Dragon at your own risk. You have been warned.

26.Okinawa II Japanese Restaurant
450 E College Ave
I did not have high expectation from this restaurant when I went for lunch recently. \r \r We were not served for over five minutes even though the store was nearly empty. \r \r Although we sat down, we were served food in Styrofoam container and soup in clear plastic container. Not only is it unappetizing to be served food this way, but wasteful. \r \r I nearly thew up when someone at our table found a maggot stuck to the broccoli on one of the dishes. The waiter had the nerve to demand her to show show him where it was, and when shown, just asked if she wants another one. No one in the restaurant even apologized to her: are you kidding me!? \r \r The staffs in general were unfriendly, and there was even a guy talking on the cell phone sitting on top of the _food counter_. Even a fast food store will not allow such a disgraceful behavior in front of customers. \r \r I heard that there was an ""incident"" with sushi there as well - I gave them the benefit of the doubt when I visited, but now I can see how this can happen. \r \r I can't see why people will give this restaurant a high rating. Yes, it's cheap eats, but why subject yourself to this treatment? Save your pride and avoid this place at all cost. It's simply atrocious.
27.Wings Over Happy Valley
536 Westerly Pkwy
I ordered bonless wings which ended up being chicken fingers in hot sauce which was a disappointment in itself. Then the chicken meat was junk. I bit into a piece and couldn't seem to bite it in half so I ripped it in half hard with half of it in my mouth and swallowed... there were four extremely long hairs down my throat and still attached to the other half of the ""bonless wing."" I had to pull the hairs out of my throat and I spent the next hour dry heaving over the sink because of how disgusted it made me feel. Thinking about it makes me sick.
28.Kimchi Korean Restaurant
1100 N Atherton St
Exceptionally bad. Overpriced entrees are mostly rice and noodles with very few vegetables or meats. Got takeout - was given only partial order and when I call them after I had driven away, they refused to refund. Last place I will go to in State College.
