The Capital Grille is at the front of a row of restaurants that flank the front of the Stamford Mall. Parking is available in the public garage immediately behind the restaurants or valet parking can be chosen (for a fee). However, the Capital Grille offers free valet parking for diners arriving after 5PM (I didn't know this until after parking in the garage and walking up to the restaurant to read the sign announcing such). The atmosphere is pure, modern, higher-end steak-house restaurant - think Mortons or a newer Ruth Chris' restaurant. Medium-colored wood trim is used extensively as are brass accents. Dress is business casual to business though the bar area has tables where less-formal attire was seen. I myself just came off a golf course and didn't feel uncomfortable but I was definitely the only one in shorts that evening. The wait staff was very attentive, perhaps a bit too much for my taste in that he was more conversational than informative (and he was very informative). The menu presentation was a bit long; I personally like to read the menu and ask questions vs. having each main menu item explained to me, but we survived the speech and placed our orders. The steaks are dry-aged which gives the meat a very nice flavor. I ordered the Kona coffee crusted sirloin with shallot butter and was quite happy with my choice. This menu item is a chef's suggestion (at $42) and was recommended by the waiter - apparently it is one of their best sellers. I forget the size of the cut, it wasn't small but I have had larger, it must have been in the 16oz range, OK for a standard appetite but you'd have to supplement it with sides and an appetizer if you are hungry. Speaking of appetizers, the wedge salad with bleu cheese and bacon chips was excellent and you have to, have to, order the lobster macaroni and cheese. Chunks of lobster are melded with baked macaroni and cheese which is topped with a crumb mixture. The dish is incredibly rich but worth the shot of cholesterol as it is so good. In fact one person at the table considered ordering the wedge salad and lobster mac and cheese as his meal, foregoing the steaks altogether. I passed on dessert and had coffee instead - average, nothing special about it. I prefer stronger coffee and was disappointed in that their coffee was almost diner-like, less than medium bodied. It definitely did not fit the rest of the meal in terms of quality or taste. The tab for a party of 3, with tip and only one beer (and 2 diet cokes) was $260. This is not an inexpensive restaurant but worth the occasional splurge if you are in the mood for a steak (or are intrigued by the lobster mac and cheese).

. The soup for one is like an odd mixture of miso and beef bouillon(more the latter then the former). The salad that comes next is iceberg with an overly mustardy style dressing. You end up paying more then $25 for the meal depending on what meat you choose, for this you get 2 shrimp as an app. the soup salad and entree, fried rice is extra but may have been the only decent thing we ate. Onto service, my friends tried to order a large sake but pronounced it saw-key not saw-kay and got an Asahi when they told the server she grunted and said "you pronounced it wrong" took away the asahi, when I later ordered an asahi I believe I received the same one that was sent away as mine was warm and flat. Then the check comes and to our surprise

This place used to be good, but it coasts by on its reputation and location. Shameful. No one from town eats here, but it is always packed full of out of towners who don't know any better and are normally disappointed. Don't think of eating here...anywhere else is better. The only exception is if you just want to sit at the bar and have a drink...then the atmosphere will carry the day.

I haven't been to any Red Lobster in over 5 years. We decided to go here because of it proximity to the movie theater. We were pleasantly surprised by the swift service and the great selections. Soup and the shrimp lettuce wraps were great starters. The main entrees arrived super fast and the taste was spot right on. I highly recommend this place when on a budget and don't have a whole lot of time.

After a bad first experience, my fiance and I decided to give it a 2nd chance. Our first visit: we sat in the bar, which was a horrible decision. After being seated and waiting for at least 15 minutes, we finally got our own menus. After another 10-15 minutes we finally ordered and I forget how much time passed before the food arrived (we stopped another waitress to ask where it was at one point). Never were we checked upon by our waiter and had to ask other staff in order to get our waiter.\r \r We decided to give FISH another try because we enjoy the food. This second chance was a mixed experience. We were seated on the side deck this time and with menus too! We had to wait a while to order our food, the salad did arrive fairly quickly. We had to wait a while for our main course. Wait time was annoying, the fact that we were never visited by our waiter to see if we needed anything or to explain the wait was VERY annoying. Food was finally delivered, but we were not asked if we wanted anything else. After finally grabbing the attention of a member of the bus staff, our waiter finally came by again about 5 mins later to take a drink order. After we finished the entrees, amazingly, our waiter actually showed up at our table quickly this time. Ordered some dessert and were astonished at what happened next. the dessert all of a sudden was slid on to the table by someone on the fly. We had absolutely no utensils with which to eat the dessert. It's a little hard to eat a blueberry and peach crumb with ice cream without spoons! After several minutesmore minutes another member of the staff walked by and we had to nearly grab him to get his attention. Asked for utensils and a couple of minutes later finally received the spoons.\r \r The food was once again very good, the service remained horrible. A little better this time, but service was still horrible. We really enjoy the food at F.I.S.H., but it is hard to overcome the experience that the staff creates.
