Early Does It
I contacted Early does it and talked to Chris. He was very polite and professional. He assured me of his work and by my surprised he went above and beyond. First, I had him install my floating hardwood flooring in three rooms. Not only was he punctual he was quick. Since he did such a great job we had him come back and install an electrical outlet in our kitchen island that turned out perfect. Loving his work, he had him come back several times. We had him install tile in two seperate locations, do some wiring with our surround, he came over on an emergency call to help repair our damaged ceiling around our chimney from a leak, do some dry-walling in our basement, fix our loose stairway railing, and put up wainscoting in our master bedroom. No matter what he always tried to get to my projects as soon as he could, and made me feel like I was top priority. I will be using his company for anything I come across. He is very talented in several different areas of expertise.

Red Racks Thrift Store
They have a lot to choose from, but some of the locations must have a retailer pricing their items. I have seen USED (and you can tell they were used) prices be at more than 75% of retail prices. What? You can't look at eBay's ASKING prices, you need to see what the items actually SOLD for to get an idea of that stuff's value (I was told they look the prices of some things on eBay and price from there. Someone is not researching properly). Please. Get your prices out of the clouds and MOVE that stuff! (oh and on your quarter sales? Don't go back on your word and re-price everything you don't want to go for 25 cents, especially since some people sit out by the door an hour before you open just to get that one item. Bad bad policy)

Tubby's Diner
A few days ago I had a great breakfast at Tubby's. The Lumberjack breakfast filled me up and it sure was tasty!!! Fried eggs over medium cooked to perfection. There was no problem substituting biscuits and gravy for the ham slab. I like ham but I was in the mood for biscuits and gravy. The pancakes were BIG and tasty as was everything I ate. I have only had one meal at this place with its new ownership. I believe the new owners have done a fine job of renewing the old. I will be returning in the future. I will likely order a smaller breakfast offering since I was just too stuffed with that Lumberjack breakfast!!!! I must admit I am getting older and unable to eat as much as in the past.

Lucy's Chinese Food
Average food, small menu, bad service. My rice was under cooked, small and hard. Meat was good but not much sauce. Like most Chinese restaurants around town, the food is bland. Portions were small, I was looking for some decent Orange Chicken, but you can't find that here. I got the General Chicken instead. I should have just gone across the street to McDonalds. At least there I know I will be getting poor quality when I order. Sigh...

Missouri Council of The Blind Thrift Store
Great place. Have patience and visit often to find a great deal. Found a pair of expensive limited edition Danskos worth about $75 (and that's what they were worth USED) for $5. They were in great shape too! I have also found other just as great deals. Don't judge it off one trip. LOVE LOVE the new and gigantic location!!

Missouri Council of The Blind Thrift Store
The new location on the west side of Kansas Expressway has been a HUGE leap forward for the thrift store I visit far more than any other. Prices are fair and good deals are to be found. Look for the sale days with half-off ALL items and other specials involved. I highly recommend this thrift store.

Cowherd Construction
We have had wonderful experiences in our business dealings with Cowherd Construction. Over the last 20 years these have included new home construction, remodeling, and property repairs/management. It would be difficult to find a company with a better work ethic, or more integrity. HIGHLY recommend!!

Farmers Gastropub
Very tasty, and love that it's was all local, and made in house. Being a small time farmer I respect what they are doing greatly! I ordered the baked brie and caramelized onions(I HATE onions) and mini cottage pie with side salad, and it was all AMAZING!!
Tips & Advices
If there is ever a dispute regarding payment over the course of the project, a contractor or subcontractor could place a payment claim, or lien, on your property. To avoid this, ask the contractor to sign a lien release, which is a legal agreement that states that any payment accepted is final. This can come in handy if a contractor has his or her own payment issues with their subcontractors. Signing a lien release form certifies that any payment made by a client to the contractor is enough to pay for any goods or services rendered.
Absolutely ask. Paying too much up front offers the homeowner minimal leverage if the quality of work does not meet expectations or contractual specifications. Try to establish a reasonable pay schedule, such as paying 10 percent of the total cost for each 10 percent of the work that is completed. Include this payment plan in the contract, as well.
Before any money changes hands, there should be a contract to sign. Make sure the specifics of the work and all costs are listed in the contract, including details. If you forget to have something included in the contract after signing it, there's rarely a chance of recourse.
Ask the contractor for proof of their certification before signing anything, as well as their proof of insurance. You should also check your homeowners insurance policy to see if they offer coverage for contracted work. You may want to call your insurance provider and ask for more details on what your plan will and won't cover.
Yes. Plans for how the work site will be cleaned at the end of each day as well as at the conclusion of work need to be put in writing. An experienced general contractor should make every effort to keep the workspace clean and prevent dirtying or damaging any other area. Even so, talk with the contractor about the daily schedule, the logistics of transporting workers and equipment, and how cleanup will be handled.

Just a moment...
