Family Auto Repair
Family Auto Repair is the best auto repair shop I've ever used. My wife and I have used them for a few years and they are outstanding. Once they fix a problem it stays fixed. Our car has 350,000 miles on it and it is still cruising down the road thanks to them. They charge a very fair price. They are the first mechanic I've ever been to that I've felt like I didn't pay them enough for the work they did. Our truck hit the age where it needed a new timing belt and the dealership was going to charge an incredible amount of money. Family Auto put in a new timing belt, fix a problem with a sticky brake, took care of a squeaky clutch, and ran a diagnostic on the air conditioner for less than half of what the dealership wanted just for the timing belt. When I told the owner how much the dealership was going to charge, he just shook his head. The truck has been running great with the new timing belt. When it comes to auto repair, Family Auto is definitely as good as it gets!

Rick's Automotive
I took my Jeep in for an oil change and tire rotation at Rick's. I found out just before my appointment that I needed to be across town for a meeting 45 min after my appointment was scheduled. When I checked in for my appointment, I told this to the gentleman at the front desk and he immediately went to check with the mechanics to see how quickly they could get the work done. They said they could do it so they immediately got to work. Thirty minutes later my oil was changed, tires rotated and an inspection was conducted. When they explained to me what they found on the inspection, they spoke to me professionally and treated me with respect, not talking down to me. They alerted me to a few issues and gave me an idea of the urgency level of each issue without being alarmist or pushing me to make an appointment to get the issues fixed on the spot. I would recommend them for quick, professional service.

Rick's Automotive
About a month ago, my car broke down. In the mean time, it has been with 4 different mechanics. One replaced my starter, another replaced my fuel pump, I paid labor and diagnostic fees. Almost 500 dollars put into my car, and it still wouldn't start. I took it to the dealership and they charged me $125.00, to tell me it was my computer module and that it would cost me $2,400.00 to repair. Someone told me to try Ricks Automotive. These guys Are Amazing! They worked hard on my car and on saving me money. They were able to fix my car for under a thousand dollars. I would of been able to save another 500 if I had taken it to them in the first place. Thank You Rick's Automotive for all of your hard work, you guys Rock!

Tubby's Diner
A few days ago I had a great breakfast at Tubby's. The Lumberjack breakfast filled me up and it sure was tasty!!! Fried eggs over medium cooked to perfection. There was no problem substituting biscuits and gravy for the ham slab. I like ham but I was in the mood for biscuits and gravy. The pancakes were BIG and tasty as was everything I ate. I have only had one meal at this place with its new ownership. I believe the new owners have done a fine job of renewing the old. I will be returning in the future. I will likely order a smaller breakfast offering since I was just too stuffed with that Lumberjack breakfast!!!! I must admit I am getting older and unable to eat as much as in the past.

La Boba Cafe
This little cafe is tucked away in the Elfindale Center next to H&R Block. There is plenty of parking. There are little table and chairs outside to enjoy. There are comfy couch style seating areas as well as table and chairs inside so it's great to sit and relax with friends which is nice. Its not like other places where you just take it and go. Their smoothies are made with real fruit. I recommend the Strawberry-Banana or the Honeydew Melon smoothies. They are delicious. The staff was friendly, smiling, courteous. My iced coffee didn't have too much ice. Their prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was relaxing, new and shiny.

Ruby Tuesday
Full disclosure, I am a huge Ruby Tuesday fan. I have dined at Ruby Tuesday Restaurants all over the country. Unfortunately, my last home was no where around a Ruby Tuesday. I am currently staying in Springfield and the N. Glenstone RT is close to my mother's home. I frequently go to RT for a late lunch. The price, entrees, salad bar and service is great. It is a casual restaurant and there is no feeling of needing to dress up or any crap like that. You can just go in, enjoy a meal and your party's company. Nice, casual place to dine by yourself, friends, or family.

Bob's Garage
I had a 2007 Ford 5.4 liter v-8 with 117421 miles that I was told by two shops to replace. I remembered a friend speaking highly of Bob's garage. So called and told Larry (The owner) my problems with my engine he called my a few minutes later with a price for total overhauling the motor the price was literally half of the others for twice the work. It took him and his crew a week and they did the best job I've ever seen, total attention to detail and general quality work. The truck runs great I'm sold on Bob's garage I recommend Larry and his crew to anyone.

Swope Automotive
This is scott swope, the owner of swope automotive. The review below is a total farse. I have never had a single customer pay that much for sensors and a computer, in fact i have only replaced 3 engine computers in the 5 years i have been opened and only one was for a starting issue, that bill was only $214 that the guy (former friend) never paid for. I suspect that a competitor is trying to tarnish our reputation. Don't believe everything you read!

Lucy's Chinese Food
Average food, small menu, bad service. My rice was under cooked, small and hard. Meat was good but not much sauce. Like most Chinese restaurants around town, the food is bland. Portions were small, I was looking for some decent Orange Chicken, but you can't find that here. I got the General Chicken instead. I should have just gone across the street to McDonalds. At least there I know I will be getting poor quality when I order. Sigh...
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.

Just a moment...
