Mr Happy House
My house was badly in need of exterior paint. I received several bids from different contractors and chose Mr. Monyak of Mr. Happy House. He’s bid was very competitive, but what sold me was the fact he lived close to my neighborhood and has been in business for over 25yrs; which tells me he's doing something right and is dependable. It turned out, I made the right choice. He did an excellent job. He's very patient; takes the time to answer your questions, offers advice on a wide variety of house related maintenance. He helped me pick out the colors and discussed the different finishes, such as satin or flat. To help me decide, Mr. Monyak, brought samples of flat and satin in the colors I chose to test on the house, which was very helpful. Once, I gave him the contract he started the very next day. He personally pressure washed the house, took down the window screens, removed the shutters and repainted them. I also had him replaced my damaged gutter downspouts. The next day, his paint crew was on site to prep and paint the house. On the 3rd day, Mr. Monyak re-hung the shutters and window screens and we walked around the house together for a final post inspection. Mr. Monyak did a great job. My next door neighbor was so impressed they had Mr. Monyak paint their home and another neighbor is having a roof and fence replaced and their house painted by Mr. Monyak. My house is not only a Happy House, but a good looking house. Give Mr. HappyHouse a call, you’ll be happy you did.

Tips & Advices
For a long-lasting paint job, a clean wall is crucial. Ask how they plan to clean your walls, if at all, before getting started. A high-quality company will thoroughly prepare a wall so that the paint will lay smoothly and last a long time.
Yes. A well-established company will have more experience and likely more references for you to reach out to than a new company that's just getting off the ground. Be sure to ask for references so you can speak to former customers about their experience working with the painter. When speaking to these people, ask about:
  • Whether they had issues with the crew
  • If the painters were messy or neat
  • How the paint has held up since the project was completed
The quality of the paint will affect how good the walls look when the project is completed. If your contractor says they plan on using a paint you don't like, feel free to request an alternative.
If the contractor makes a point to train new hires on safety techniques as well as quality standards on the job, you're probably in good hands.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of cases where a painter has stolen items from a home or caused damage to the house or injury to the homeowner. Subcontractors may not be as skilled as employees, and the contractor you're hiring may not have much experience working with them, making them more of a risk. Additionally, ask if the painters are employees or subcontractors, and what the screening or hiring process is like.
