Scott's Automotive Center
I have to say I was staring down the barrel of some bad news I received from my last oil change. I came to this business only as I was driving by because I loved the clean way it appeared on the corner of the street. Met Scott the owner behind the counter and right away he asked me some questions and with his help discovered I needed to get a second opinion. I must say, I am SO glad. it was NO WHERE near what I had originally thought. I am so grateful and he worked with me on cost and everything. Guys listen the business is FAMILY owned and operated. Nothing but the BEST in customer service, Honesty, Really gets you feeling GREAT about car issues and repair. Please check them out!!!!!!! I love them! I will use ONLY them and suggest them to EVERYONE I know!!!!!!

Discount Quality Car Care
To all these people speaking poorly of this place, my family and I have taken our vehicles here for a very long time. They may take a while longer than most, but so far I have never had my trucks come back damaged in any way. I've beat the hell out of 2 4x4 trucks personally and they've always came through. Beautiful work, fair price. They run a business, not a charity. A.S. Ratajack

McKay's Automotive The Woodlands
I called to ask a question about a coupon they put in the paper. The guy asked a question about wheather my car is 1996 or later, and I said it's an 06, and he ASKED so is it after 1996 or something like that and I said yes, and apparently he did not like my tone of voice and hung up on me deliberately!!! I heard a deliberate click!!! I called right back and said I was just hung up on so I was not coming there and he said ok in a casual voice like he didn't even care---no explanation as to why he had hung up or apology or anything like that!!! Even if a customer is grouchy or whatever, that is NO EXCUSE to hang up on the person who pays your check with their money!!!

CARS Complete Auto Repair Services
- Brought my Kia Optima to C.A.R.S. based on good Google reviews and it was near my home- Was told they don't do alignments, but would diagnose the problem anyway- Learned they had sent my car to NTB for alignment while I was out getting coffee- I was told the alignment would set a baseline whereby they could determine if the issue was more complex- After the alignment, the car stilled pulled to the right and I was told I needed new struts and shocks, and likely a Camber Bolt kit to fix the issue- The estimate for all work was $1850.00 (not including the camber bolt kit)Brought car to Beck & Masten Kia in Tomball. Here's what they did to fix it:- THEY ALIGNED THE CAR- I paid $92That's a difference of $1758.00 that I didn't have to spend, folks! C.A.R.S's slogan is "Welcome back to affordable car care." They must've taken their cue from the folks who dreamed up the "Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)!"

Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
