True Companion Animal Hospital
If there were more stars I would choose them. I was looking for an animal hospital to take my baby to that would have a great vet and staff and that wouldn't rip me off. My little girl was sick and I knew I would have to put her down soon. Not a good time to be in the market for a vet. When I went there for the first time, Dr. Webb saw my baby and did a thorough exam. She very gently told me the bad news. She didn't give me false hope or try to get more money out of me. She was very kind and considerate to not only me but my dog too. The staff was amazing and very kind and understanding. Dr. Webb gave me some medicine to give to my dog and told me to check back after a few days. Well I, of course, forgot because I was so caught up with my dog and making excuses for the inevitable. So she called me to check in on my baby and myself. I have NEVER had a vet do that and I thought that was the best. So when I made my appointment to put my dog down the girls at the front explained everything to me. I told them that I wanted to be with my baby and hold her during the process. When I got there, they took myself, my baby girl, sister and my mother into the room. when we walked in, they already had a mat and blanket down on the ground for my dog and I. When all three of us and my dog were on the floor, the staff and Dr. Webb were completely understanding and worked around ALL of us. I am sure that wasn't easy. They gave me all the time I needed and not once rushed me and my last bit of time with my sweet girl. When it was done, I sat outside the room and one of the the staff came over to me and gave me the best big hug. The next day my door bell rang and I opened the door to a delivery guy. He was there with a rose and vase with a card from the animal hospital giving me their condolences. I could not have found a better place and a better group of people to help me through such a heartbreaking time. I highly recommend them to anyone and everyone!! I will definitely be going to them with my next dog, without a doubt. Thank you soooooo much True Comanpion!! You will always have a special place in my heart.

Critter Fixer
Place is awesome! Called & brought my male cat in with a partially blocked bladder and they immediately worked him in and got him in the back to start working on him. Completely explained everything about the condition to me, what causes it, how to check him in the future, and stressed the severity of it. My old vet - "oh it's typical for male cats just watch him" put him on a special diet and said once it passed, then put him back on his regular cat food (which is what causes the problem to flare up!!) I wish I brought him here a year ago when this happened the first time and we wouldn't have had to take him in today. Reasonably priced - I was thinking it was going to be much more expensive when they told me all the tests they were running - I was shocked when I got the total! I will be taking all my animals back to Critter Fixer and not going back to their old vet! Thanks to the awesome staff and vet today for saving my kitty's life!

Critter Fixer
I would recommend this place to all my friends and neighbors. From the moment I called and talked to the lovely receptionist who was very professional and informative, and when it came to my appointment they where able to get me in within 10 minutes of getting there. Of course it was mostly me since I wanted to make sure I filled out my primary reason why I was there. Then when they got me into a room they offered me and my pet some water! I was so surprised to hear them ask me that. And then I got to meet a young female doctor who not only answered all my questions but even found a lump I had never noticed! The veterinary technicians were great as well in between my pets diagnostics they offered me more water and even came in to update me about how much longer it was going to be. In all my years of going to a vet hospital I have never seen such good service and prices until I came here!

Village Vet
Wonderful practice with caring, animal loving professionals. Prices are competitive with all other vets in the area. My little dog just got neutered there with laser and he healing without event. 4 days post op he is as if nothing happened, He is not at all concerned with his surgical site no licking, scratching, or pain. The incision is very small with no redness or swelling. He barely noticed he had surgery. The vet sat down with my husband and I and explained everything to expect post op and also gave us written instructions with her personal cell phone in case of emergency. Appointments are easy to book and they send reminders to my phone which I appreciate. Just a great place to take your 4 legged or other pet family member.

This clinic staff and doctors esp Dr. Penney are wonderful. Dr. Penney took care of my calico cat that had seizures her whole life for many many years. She had several other problems as well but thanks to the great care that she received I was able to have her with me for 13 years before I had to make the decision to let her go 2 years ago. Even when I moved I traveled the hour and a half to 2 hour drive to take her to Dr. Penney; no matter when we called or if they were closing Dr. Penney was always there when she had one of her many spells. Thank you so much. She is greatly missed! Would rec this clinic to anyone and I have sent several people that way when asked.

VCA Woodlands Animal Hospital
Took my 13 year old dog who was in pain to VCA as an emergency clinic, which was open on a weekend. My regular vet was out of town. From the office staff to the doctor, we were treated very well. I found their costs to be reasonable. All treatment was thoroughly explained and I now have a much happier dog and my mind is at ease. I could not be happier.
Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
