Shear Heaven Pet Salon
Normally we bathe and groom our own dogs but I needed to find a groomer that could clean up the shave job we did on one of our dogs after our inexpensive clippers stopped working mid-shave. We shave this dog in a fairly "odd" cut to stay on top of the skin issues he gets so frequently. Shear Haven (namely Carrie, the groomer) was amazing. They charged us a very reasonable fee and accommodated our fairly unusual requests. She shaved him perfectly, was so patient, kind, skilled, and attentive to our pretty obnoxiously behaved dog. She detected a sore on his bottom that we hadn't discovered yet, trimmed his nails, which I hadn't expected, and was still very efficient and expedient. Carrie had us in and out in under 30 min. She was very friendly and professional. I would definitely use Shear Haven again and would recommend them as well. Thank you.

Tami has always been pleasant and agreeable. I have been taking my dogs there for about 3 years now. Yes, sometimes they get nicked accidentally, I have nicked my dogs and cut their nails too short sometimes....thats a hazard of the business. I have had those kinds of experiences with Petsmat and Petco groomers.I am always able to get an appointment when needed. They have been really patient with a recent rescue of mine that bites. They have painted the quaint little cottage they do business in and put potted plants on the porch and stairs---absolutely adorable.Every time I have visited, the place has been clean other than the to=be=expected pet hair.Their prices have always been reasonable and after a long time of no price hikes, they have raised their prices, but still very reasonable.

I love Shear Heaven! I take both of my dogs there and they look so nice when I get them back! Typically my dogs do not like going to the groomers, but since I have started taking them to Shear Heaven they happily go in- no more dragging them through the door. I do not think they are the fastest, but I am very happy with their service otherwise and the quality of work. Not to mention, the pricing is very reasonable!

took my spoiled scotty to her. did better job and more patient than last three spokane area groomers i have tried. will take him back. some scottys can be difficult, are small but have teeth like a germanshepard and the jaw muscles to use them. she did a pretty good job and did not get bit. would say take all your dogs there.

We often will let our Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix dog get to the point where his hair is a long, unmanageable, tangled mess. We've taken him to Debbie's several times and they always do a great job in making him look great and a low price. He always is very happy when we pick him up. I highly recommend them.

She did a wonderful job with my Shepard mix!! He was shedding so bad when we took him to her and looked amazing afterward. Price was very reasonable and she was very nice. My dog really seemed to enjoy the pampering too

My husband took our cat here as it seriously needed a bath and a shave...the cat has really long hair. When he came home he looked so much better and cleaner. I'm really happy with this experience.

We have been using Debbies for years, many different dogs, different needs. They take great care of our large dogs, even in the heat of the summer!

The groomer loves dogs. The dogs love her after they been in a few times. I wish I could give her six stars instead of just five. She is awesome !
Tips & Advices
Some pet groomers have viewing areas where owners can sit and watch their pets being treated. Most prevent owners from being in the same room as the pet, however, as the owner's presence might cause the pet to become too excited.
Pets that cannot interact with strangers do not make good professional grooming candidates. Sometimes medication can help, but some groomers don't take animals that have been sedated. If a pet becomes too unruly, a groomer may end the session entirely.
It's best to fully vaccinate pets before bringing them to their first grooming appointment. Dogs should receive the DA2PPC vaccine, which stands for canine distemper, canine andenovirus type 2, canine parvovirus, and parainfluenza. It's also a good idea to vaccinate dogs against Bordedatella (aka “kennel cough”). In fact, New York City requires dogs receive both DAPP and Bordetella shots. Cats, meanwhile, should get the FVRCP vaccine: feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus infection, and panleukopenia. In addition, all pets should be up to date on their rabies shots. Owners should wait at least 24 hours after getting their pet vaccinated before bringing it to the groomers.
Technically, there is no such thing as a pet that is too old for a professional groomer. In fact, older pets with joint or mobility issues often can't groom themselves and need someone else to clean them. However, pets that are blind, deaf, or have serious medical issues might not do well at a groomer, especially if the person is inexperienced. Owners should feel free to ask potential groomers about their understanding of elderly pet issues. Often, older pets will exhibit puppy-like behavior and squirm or yelp during grooming. Alternatively, they might not be able to stand for long periods of time. As such, grooming an older pet usually takes more time than grooming a young one.
Puppies and kittens should be at least 10 weeks old before their first professional grooming session. They should be used to being gently handled by strangers and comfortable being separated from their owners for a few hours at a time.
