DJs Professional Lawn Care Service
We have used DJ's Lawn Care & Landscaping for almost a year. When initially trying out DJ's for our Slidell house, one of the first things I appreciated was his prompt responsiveness and his utmost professionalism when communicating with us. (This has not changed over the year - he is the same courteous, respectful guy as from Day 1 when he was trying to earn our business.)When he and his team work on our yard, the work is always completed when he says it will be and it always looks great. He follows specific instructions well, and seems to genuinely want to provide the service we expect. If he has any questions about a particular area or task we've asked of him, he will not hesitate to call & clarify things before he tackles the job. This, to me, shows that he cares about his work, and it is a quality I have really appreciated. We could not be more pleased with hiring him and highly recommend DJ to anyone looking for a fair, reliable and trustworthy lawn service.

DJs Professional Lawn Care Service
I've been through a few of the big lawn services, and I finally found DJ's. Let me start by saying that up front that I have a large lawn, 5 acres, and tons of landscaping to boot. Not only is he somehow timely every week, and keeps it all manicured, he has actually managed to keep my wife off my back about issues with the service. I've tried Grasshopper, Kirby, and Tojo. He charges more than grasshopper but beat the other two by 20.00 a week. Isn't much, but considering the improvement in service and customer service, it means a lot. I stand behind these guys, I'm a 67 year old army vet, and I Salute DJ's, hats off!

Strecker Inc. Tree Service
2 trees taken down, stump and roots shredded, massive vines removed, and debris cleared out. Had the proper equipment, I just should have thought of warning our neighbors about the noise. Their crew is very professional and did an impressive job without any issues. Reasonably priced. I highly recommend!

Slidell Christian Academy
Great school. Excellent teachers. Healthy learning atmosphere. Small classes. Geared toward students learning and not teaching to get a good grade on statewide test. Usually they end up getting good grades for all their tests. Students are held accountable for school work and attitudes.

Strecker Inc. Tree Service
I just had a 150 years old Gum Tree removed by Mr. Strecker and his work crew yesterday. They did an excellent job and great cleanup. They get an A+ rating in my book, and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of any type of tree service to be done on their property.

Fleur De Lawn Services
Great job and my lawn looks beautiful after every cut. It's the same guys every-time and they offer north and south-shore service. Don't overcharge and only cut when its needed. Have been a customer for 6 years and I will NEVER use anyone else.

Fleur De Lawn Svc
Kevin has been my steady lawn care contractor, since 2009. He is reasonable and gives senior discounts. He is easy to work with. He doesn't pressure us into anything extra, if we don't want it. I hope Kevin will be around for long time.

Tips & Advices
Irrigation system advantages:
  • Lowers water bill and maintenance time with scheduled watering
  • Evenly distributes water
Irrigation system disadvantages:
  • Professionally installed systems cost between $3,000-$4,000 for a quarter-acre lot.
  • Some do-it-yourself systems cost up to $1,500 but are difficult to install.
  • You may need to call a professional electrician and plumber, adding $300-$600 to your project.
Some plants can stand up to the cold weather, like kale or pansies. These can be planted in the autumn or early winter. Other plants need to wait until the soil is warm and ready. Plant perennial flowers in mid-autumn or mid-spring. If you're planting from seed or sprout, you can generally find information about planting conditions on the package.
Why get artificial grass?
  • Cuts down on lawn maintenance
  • It's environmentally friendly since there‚Äôs no need to water.
  • Artificial grasses may be more attractive than real grass in drought-stricken areas.
Why stick to the real deal?
  • Artificial grass has a high upfront cost - $15 to $20 per square foot.
  • It can be difficult to install.
  • Inexpensive options might look unnatural.
  • It gets hot in the sun.
First, determine which pests you're dealing with. Mounds or tunnels indicate moles or voles. Apply castor oil to your lawn; they'll find another digging spot. Determine which bugs you have by pouring a bucket of soapy water onto the lawn. The bugs will surface so you can identify them. Milky spore and nematodes keep grubs and other bugs at bay. Insecticidal soap also works. The best way to prevent pests is with good yard maintenance. Certain bugs prefer overwatered lawns or yards with thatches. Regular mowing, watering, and dethatching discourage pests from moving in.
Fertilizer isn't always necessary, but it can keep your lawn looking lush and healthy. Use fertilizer with slow release nitrogen so it doesn't encourage weeds to grow. Keep in mind that overfertilizing can spur weed growth. However, under-fertilizing can result in weak grass, which gives weeds more space to take root.
