While I have had some issues in the past with scheduling, (they scheduled my son's 4-year-old appointment one week before his birthday, and because of our insurance policy, they were unable to actually do the appointment. Seems like the person who scheduled the appointment should have known this.) However today was an amazing experience. We were seen almost as soon as we walked in the door. We were taken care of by Kristen, the RN on staff, and she was absolutely amazing. She addressed all of my questions and concerns, and I was treated with respect and courtesy regarding my personal views on vaccinations. She was excellent with my two kids (ages 2 and 4), and we completed both of their well visits in less than 30 minutes! It seems their office staff have also stepped up their game. I definitely feel great about my decision to remain with them.

Barton, John V, MD
I first went to Slidell Memorial because I was fainting, and different doctor sent me home without finding the cause. At The Louisiana Heart Hospital, Dr. Barton was my doctor. In 30 minutes, they realized that I had ulcers and a Bleed from taking too many BC powders due to daily headaches and chronic migraines. Dr. Barton listened and really got to know me-and my case while visiting my room. He actually cared. He was incredibly knowledgeable and he listened. Not only did he treat my ulcers, but he treated my headaches. I have tried countless drugs to manage my pain, and he found what actually worked on the first try. He said that my current medication must not be working if I needed so many BC Powders. He was right. Thanks to Dr. Barton, I feel better than ever. (His nurse practitioner is great as well.)

Carlos Nine Md
Dr Nine is one of the finest and most friendly Doctors in the area. That is providing you can get thru to his office. I have never been able to get past his answering machine. I know better than to call during lunch since there will be no one there. However, even trying before lunch and after lunch you get the message of when the office hours are without the opportunity to leave a message. The last time I needed to talk to him I went into the office to setup an appointment.

Christy Graves MD
Ms. Christy was wonderful with me. She took the time to go over, and explain in detail my lab results on some blood work I had to have done, she spent like two hours with me. Most Doctors just want to Hurry up take your money give you some unnecessary presriptions and push you out the door. Not Christy, she really is a great Doctor.

Elaina Schexnayder, FNP-C
Elaina was a great doctor, kind and listened, however this is part of SMH and it sucks, after hours answering service never answers, no return calls, last appointment I was 10 mins late due to traffic road work, I was then sent home to reschedule, bullshit

Barton, John V, MD
My first visit I was in a lot of pain. The waiting time was maybe 5 minutes, they listened to everything I had to say. They treated me right there in the office due to a severe infection and monitored me for 2 1/2 hrs. I couldn't ask for a better Dr.

I went to dr. berault for my first pregnancy. he was awesome to me the entire duration. I went in a nervous new mom to be with a notebook of questions which he patiently answered for me. he has great bedside manners and kept me from over worrying.

Awful office staff. They are very unprofessional the phone will have a busy signal most of the day because they sit the phone off the hook. I am definitely getting a new doctors office for my girls

Tips & Advices
This depends on the facility. Patients should call to find out if they'll need a referral from their physician prior to making an appointment.
Aside from hyperbaric oxygen treatment, most wound care centers offer:
  • Debridement: The removal of dead skin and tissue surrounding the wound. This can be done surgically, using a whirlpool bath, syringes, enzymes that dissolve the tissue, or wet dressings that dry on the wound and absorb the dead tissue.
  • Dressing: Wrapping the wound in a protective film, gauze, gel, or foam.
  • Compression stockings: Tight-fitted fabric sheaths that encourage blood flow.
  • Artificial skin: A covering that is applied to the wound for several days as it heals.
  • Ultrasound: The use of sound waves to promote healing.
  • Growth factor therapy: The use of materials naturally produced by the body to encourage quick cell growth.
  • Negative pressure therapy: Creating a vacuum around a wound to encourage faster blood flow to the area.
Depending on where the treatment is administered, hyperbaric oxygen treatment  can cost $100- $1,000. After insurance is applied, patients may have a copay of $10 -$50 or a coinsurance fee of 10 percent to 50 percent.
Most wounds should heal within two to six weeks. An individual should seek chronic wound treatment if a wound has not begun to heal after two weeks or is not completely healed after six.
Most health insurance plans cover wound care. Patients should check with the clinic and their health insurance provider before seeking treatment to be sure.
