Arrow Transmission LLC / Arrow Towing and Recovering
I put my car in a ditch this past week with the heavy rain and standing water on the roads in a very difficult position to move. I called Arrow Towing and they had a tower available almost immediately. The driver was very friendly and professional. He did an amazingly quick and efficient job. The price was very reasonable. I would recommend Arrow to anyone with a need for a tow or car repairs.

Mike's Auto Repair Service
Very disappointed! Our truck was making very specific noise. We took it in for 'diagnostics', paid $40, & rec'd list of things supposedly wrong. We let Mike's fix it. When we drove it home, not only was it still making original noise took it in for, but was making new noises too. We called & took it back. Then they said 3 of the tires had minor cracking within the rubber & that the front rotor needed to be replaced & that should take care of the 'new noises' (which it wasn't making when we took it there). I was told the original noise could be "a loose bearing within transfer case, but don't need to worry about it unless noise gets worse". Really? Why weren't these other things picked up when diagnostics exam was done? Then they told me that my husband wasn't specific enough regarding original noise when he first brought it in. That's just ridiculous. Over $1200 & it still needs more repairs. At this point, we'll take it somewhere else. Needless to say, we won't be repeat customers.

Doug's Auto Service
So I was pretty fired up and Scott from Doug's did help out with these invoices. He wanted to verify from the towing company of the charges. It was a mistake on their end and I jumped the gun. My revised review is 5 stars. I am not able to remove my previous post.

Doug's Auto Service
If I could I would have given Doug's Repair a ZERO. So after a repair of an alternator... My wife and I along with our 1 year old daughter were in Milwaukee shopping at south ridge mall. On the other way back to Sheboygan.... Right on the highway by the airport the car breaks down. We had to call 911 and wait about 30 minutes without heat cause the alternator took a craps. This was on a Saturday at about 6. We had to get it towed somewhere so we had it towed back to towing company. We had to wait til Monday to pick up the car being a weekend tow. We paid the tow of 150 including storage fee. Plus 40 was paid to rent a dolly from quasius equipment. When we got the car back to Sheboygan... Doug's took a day and a half to repair a faulty alternator that left us stranded in Milwaukee till 11pm.... They covered the repair then handed over the original warranty paper with a sticker for help if needed . And the guy said sorry we forgot to give you this.... Well guess what buddy... I forgot to give u these receipts to help pay for this... He told me to come in to give a check. I went there and he wanted receipts and said he would give them back to me later when he calls back. No buddy I'm here to get my check for your mess up. He gave me a run around and I left leaving him copies of receipts.

Joe's Hometown Automotive
Joe's Auto are crooks. Took my vehicle in for a tune up and they charged me over 700 dollars and didn't even change the spark plug wires. I was stupid and took it back, cause they are so nice and all when I had breke and ball joint issues. They charged 100 dollars just to inspect, than gave me an estimate almost double everyone else. over 900 dollars and I got the job done for 500. Complete and utter crooks.

Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
