Within a minute of calling and trying to see if they were available for landscaping services the lady on the phone rudely interrupted me and said we dont do landscaping projects and hung up on me. what a terrible way to run a business and to treat potential new customers.

Drama, Trauma and Lies. Very bad news. Nichole who says that she is the true business owner and her husband Jerry. Poor, unfinished work. Way over scheduled time of completion. Contracted work not completed. Never on time or even close. Contracted schedule of pay but constant draws because they didn't have money for materials or tools. Used my tools and ladders because they couldn't find a way to bring their own. I should have fired them as soon as I heard 'Money Tree' for check cashing. There's much more. Don't be fooled by the phony recent reviews. One of them is from someone named Nichole. Hmmm....

Akina Designs
If you're looking for landscaping done on time, for the amount promised, with excellent service, and high quality plants, DO NOT use Akina Designs. From start to finish this was a poor operation, with a lack of accountability going all the way to the top. From the consultation on, we were deeply disappointed. After being shown photos of what we could expect, we actually thought the plants installed at our new home were a joke. They could not have been more different than what was estimated (i.e. a set of 2' seedlings installed instead of 6' shrubs). Two grown trees were installed, and died within 3 weeks. After suggesting we didn't know how to water trees, another set were installed, with "fool proof" water bags. They too, died within weeks. Owner and client rep refused to take phone calls, everything had to be via email (when they responded at all, which was rare). We had heard negative feedback, but trusted them because they were referred by a friend and were cost effective. Please save yourself the time, effort and frustration that will be required if you go down the rabbit hole with these jokers.

When Jerry arrived inApril, he boasted of the fact that he was licensed and bonded. I explained the project, install two can lights in my ceiling. You can see in the picture the taping job is really bad. The whole time he was here he was in a panic saying he had to get to another job. When I mentioned that I wanted a bedroom painted he got his wife over here to do the paint job. She actually did a nice job, but because it was formerly a childs' room it had some drawings on it. I picked the color, yellow, because I assumed a "professional" like Jerry, would have pointed out to me that using yellow again might not cover, but he said nothing. Then when the job was over, he needed to be paid in cash only. I was running around like a maniac trying to get all the cash he needed to be paid. Everytime I look at my kitchen ceiling I get a sick feeling inside. The ceiling has now started caving in. These people are liars, frauds and should be in jail!

Expertise? Professionalism? Promptness? Now that's a laugh! Jerry Russell and his wife Nichole are scam artists. They did a very shoddy job for us and took a large amount of money from us. We are now in the process of having to take this to court to get some or all of our money back. Stay away from these jokes. Update- Found their Facebook page and I Reverse Google Image searched a bunch of their photos. No surprise that all of their photos are just stolen from the internet, even from the most common of websites like

Treat there workers like dogs, the only workers management cares about are their foremans. Yell at you for taking bathroom breaks, every meeting starts with we care about your safety but as soon as you start working it goes out the window. They want push overs and yes men, if you have a back bone you won't make it with this company. A foreman lied and said I quit, even though I told my superintendent I didn't he let me go. If you want to constantly worry about your next paycheck this company will give you that!
Tips & Advices
The cost of landscape design varies depending on the scope of the project. Expect to pay anywhere from $2,000 to upward of $11,000 for the initial design. The cost of purchasing and installing the necessary elements can cost from $11-$17 per square foot.
Many landscape designers provide maintenance services that can help keep landscape looking neat and attractive. These maintenance services might include hand pruning of ornamental shrubs, insect and disease control, weed management, tree trimming, mowing, fertilization, and leaf removal.
Landscape design is the process of designing the look of the outdoor space that is being enhanced. Landscape installation is the process of installing all the elements needed to make the design a reality.
When choosing a landscape designer, it's essential to select one whose design style matches your tastes, and evaluating a landscape designer's portfolio of previously completed projects will offer insight in this area. An n experienced landscape designer will have the background necessary to navigate unexpected challenges that may crop up during the project. Select a landscape designer who is licensed, bonded and insured. If you prefer organic gardening, choose a landscape designer whose practices are in line with this philosophy.
The size of the project plays a role, and larger landscape design projects will take longer to complete. Once the initial site visit has been made, it can take up to four weeks for the landscaping professional to complete the design. After the design has been prepared, it can take up to three weeks for the installation to be completed. Any alterations made along the way will lengthen the process.
