Tanela Auto & Truck Repair
I don't have a lot of experiences with with Tanela Auto, but my oil changes have been satisfactory and most recently a larger transaction where I needed several oil leaks fixed. I was extremely satisfied with that experience with Bob because the dealership first quoted me on close to $1500. Bob offered some creative solutions and held back on things that he did not believe were necessary that the dealership was trying to get me to do. He did the work for almost half the price, and I don't have a nasty smell in my car from the oil leak, so I know that the problem was fixed!. I'm going to bring my vehicle back for a check-up and continue to go to Tanela Auto for my routine maintenance needs. Fair prices, great service. Thank you!

J & R Auto Repair
Wish I had read previous rating before I took my car to mechanic John. I agree with everything the previous rating says, he is a thief and a liar. DO NOT TRUST this "mechanic" with your car, or buy any of his cars. Stay away from this shop!

Bloomingdale Auto Repair
Given contact information from my Allstate Roadside service. Car was picked up on time, driver called to confirm pickup time and location. BUT the car was dropped in the wrong location, driver never confirmed time of drop off or where it was dropped. I had to call to find out the correct location by calling the driver. The name and address of my mechanic was provided to the tow service but the car was not drivable and it was dropped / parked by KIDS Karate place. It was a frustrating experience because the driver never went back to pickup the car and drop it off to the right location.

VIP Auto Body Shop
It was recommended by state farm and I took my car...The guy there took pictures standing far. And then when I called to let him know that the driver door was not closing properly and that there was a metallic noise everytime I closed the door...Jimmy told me that he will take care of it. When I went to drop my car, the guy Jason was there and I made sure he understands what the problem was. But when I went to pick the car. Jimmy denied knowing it and Jason initially told me that they could not do anything about it and that it was going to have the door be like that. Then I took Jimmy to the car and he claimed he is deaf so he could not appreciate it. Then I took him to each door and made him feel each door how it was not fully closing fully. He basically raised his voice and started intimidating me that nothing can be done about it. And then Jason chimed in. And Jimmy basically told me that he does not care that State farm was notified as they will listen to him. So I took pictures and called State Farm. I think they ve a deal w State farm to intimidate clients and do as little work as possible so they are in good books w State Farm. Awful service and not only that they were trying to intimidate w their burly selves and raised and rude voice and talks.

Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
