When I was 17 years old I paid my Uncle mark lamb to work on my bucket truck.I had him mount a dump chip Box on their to turn it into a forestry bucket truck he also ran new lights and mounted tool boxes for me for $6000I was young and I did not get any investment back on the truck I lost all of my money so my customer offered to put the truck on consignment with me so I could make another $5000.The trucks alternator went out and the fuel tank / lines needed cleaned out he charged me and Extra $3000 But I did not want to sell a bad truck so I put my own money back into a consignment truck thinking I would get $5000 back.Mark lamb told me I can leave the truck there that way I did not have to drive it back-and-forth. He told me I did not have to worry about the truck and it could sit there till I sold it.Mark lamb was planning to screw me over he got ahold of my customer and talked him into trading his forestry bucket truck that you can not get parts for any more. The title was left open. I went on vacation and he traded the customer and would not refund me any of my money that I put into it.All I asked for was $3000 back because he would have had to fix the truck himself if I did not reinvest money. He took complete advantage of me and he is my Uncle please pay me back $3000 mark lamb I treated you very well paid you all in cash and when times were hard for you I even paid your landlord for you and you paid me back a couple weeks later .I still owe my metal guy $6500 cash for the dump chip Box that I was unable to pay for. I'm out $15,500 All I'm asking for is $3000 you made me not trust anyone when I thought I could trust you the most.

Renn Haus
We took our 2002 BMW 325i in to Renn Haus auto repair at 6244 Clark Center Ave Sarasota Fl for a oil change on 7/21/2017 and also had the replacement of the oil filter stand gasket and a new oil filter kit with O ring, the cost was $566.44, they had kept the car overnight. The next morning Renn Haus called from 941-922-3600 and said the car was ready. Upon arrival the sales person Mitchell said, oops, there was another problem. It appears that in putting the parts back together that morning the mechanic had used a power ratchet on the bolts to the Vanos camshaft adjuster solenoid and over tightened with a power ratchet and cracked the cast iron housing of the Vanos camshaft adjuster solenoid. Mitchell claimed there must have been a hair line crack in the Vanos camshaft adjuster solenoid that we did not know about and it was not there fault, they put some epoxy in the crack and sent us on our way. They gave us a quote of $1,500 to correct what appears to be their mistake. On 7/26/2017 we took the 2002 BMW 325i to a reputable BMW auto shop and they looked at the cracked Vanos camshaft adjuster solenoid and told us the only way that could have happened is if the "mechanic" over tightened with a power ratchet and cracked the cast iron housing of the Vanos camshaft adjuster solenoid. You do not ever use power tools on sensitive and cast iron housings in the BMW engine. DO NOT LET RENN HAUS WORK ON YOUR CAR!

Swift Auto Repair Inc
Went into Swift Auto Repair and was told the bulb in my headlight would cost over $170, require 3.5 hours work because the bumper had to be removed.Went down the street to another garage and got everything done in 30 minutes for $60.Another thing that irked me was that when I called on the phone I was told that bulb replacement on a headlight is generally less than $10.When the new owners took over a few years back, things went downhill. The sellers appeared to be honorable and honest. Too bad I can't say the same about the current owners!

Scotti's Auto Repair
Less than one day after I took the vehicle home, the check engine light came on. After repeated attempts to get a problem fixed with my car, requiring multiple trips back and forth to the repair shop, costing me money for cabs and Ubers, I decided to stop by O'Reilly Auto Parts and had them hook their computer up to it. They came up with the same code/problem that Sal at the auto shop had found. Why wasn't it fixed, if it was so obvious? I called Sal afterwards, he then told me that he'd have to charge me for the part. Even though this problem was diagnosed within the 7 day period of buying the car. I will never go here again. He made it seem like, since I hadn't bought a Bentley, it wasn't worth his time.

Bobby B.'s review is fake. It was written by someone who I know and thought he was going to get a $19.99 oil change...he's also an alcoholic and drives a 1996 Camry

C & S Corvettes
I work for a local body shop in Sarasota and C & S Corvettes brought over a yellow 1980 Chevy Corvette to have us install one of their manufactured door hinges that they sell in their store. We made several attempts to get this door hinge to fit properly and were unsuccessful due to it being about 2 inches off. Whenever the driver's side door would open with this hinge it would damage the paint on the door panel due to the poorly made design by this company. We immediately contacted the manager at C & S Corvettes and sent photos and asked him to come and take a look and he was rude, disrespectful and uncooperative with us. We also asked if they could send over another hinge and they refused. Instead they came and picked up the vehicle without paying us a dime for the many hours of labor we had trying to fit their hinge. I highly advise against purchasing any parts from this company unless you want a product that is faulty and to deal with poor customer service. i have been in the automotive business for over 25 years and I have never dealt with such horrible service. It's unfortunate I have to rate them a star because they really deserve zero!

This guy is great! We thought we needed a new battery and he told us we didn't and checked our battery to prove it. We needed the terminal replaced. 2 yr old Nissan and it was all corroded. He ran around on a Saturday afternoon, found the part and replaced it. He had a heck of a time getting the old one off as it was so corroded but he was very patient and persistent and finally got it. Would def call him again if we ever have the need while visiting in Sarasota. Oh, and he's not 24 hrs, 9-6, but he did answer the phone late on a Friday night. Thanks so much Ashly!!!

Gary's Auto Repair Service Inc
Gary's Auto Repair was amazing! I was having a very bad day, just lost my job, I had been at for over 5 years, and then my car decided to break down. I didn't know where to go; I’ve never taken my car to a mechanic other than to have my oil changed. I didn’t want to be taken advantage of , I was going to need to conserve my savings. I called a few places, they said it could be from $150-300 just to test and diagnose what was wrong. I called a friend, who recommended Gary’s. I called and spoke to Marie. She assured me that Gary would test and diagnose my car and give me an estimate for free. She also recommended a towing service to me. I finally got there and met Gary and his assistant Shane, they were such nice, caring people. After about 30 minutes Gary had figured out what was wrong and gave me a great estimate, very affordable. I'm happy to say I am back in the road again thanks to the wonderful people at Gary's auto repair!! I will recommend him to all my family & friends!
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
