Nice Guys MOvers
I had to move out of my apartment and put everything in storage. The stress of moving is already bad enough, but I contacted Nice Guys Movers and from the start I really liked this company's customer service. Benjermin I spoke with on the phone was really helpful and asked me a lot of questions about the contents of my apartment, which was great, usually I don't get this much in depth. My invoice showed up right away as promised and we had the date set for January 30th. They even sent a reminder notice asking me to reply, again not something any other moving company I've dealt with ever does. So I have every thing ready to go for my move. I got a call letting me know they were on the way, and I was able to get them into a spot right in front of my apt. We went over the contract, which is very standard for the industry and they got to work. And boy do I mean work! These guys work so fast, and they like to get down to business. They took exceptional care with all of my belongings, everything was taped or wrapped so it would be safe while on storage. Once we got to the storage place, they jumped right back to work. They did the most amazing job of stacking everything in a very organized fashion. Everything looked awesome in my storage, so neatly packed. They did it fast and they did it organized. All I can say is this the best move i have experienced in years and I have had to move for times in one year. I will be using them when I am ready to move into a new apartment. Thanks so much Nice Guys Movers and their awesome movers, this company is awesome!

I moved from Los Angeles to Santa Rosa, Ca and hired Careful Movers for - you guessed it, a lower rate. I saw the great reviews for Nice Guys Movers, but with our tight budget made the decision to go with Affordable. We drove through the night with our moving truck, only to be cancelled on by Careful Movers when I called to confirm they were en-route, after missing their arrival time. Their drivers didn't come back the day prior as scheduled, and the company was not terribly concerned with getting anyone else out, to help us unload all our belongings, trapped in a 26 foot truck. I reached out to Nice Guys Movers and immediately experienced the opposite in terms of customer service. They were kind, attentive and they sent John and Johnny out the next morning. They arrived early, had positive and friendly demeanor's as they efficiently unloaded the whole truck in under three hours. Next time we move - we'll make the budget work to have Nice Guys Movers from the get go. Thank you for taking great care of us!

My wife and I needed to move from an apartment in Windsor to to another house in the same city, and we also needed to store our furniture, etc., for a few months in between the moves. Our dealings with Nice Guys Movers were handled professionally by their office staff. They kept us informed about the whole process. The 3 guys they sent at both ends of the move were cordial, helpful, and very easy to work with and to discuss how we should do things in terms of packing, etc. They worked quickly and constantly the whole time they were with us and seemed concerned about protecting our furniture, etc. The move cost more than I had originally anticipated, as you pay for their time to and from their storage facility, which was a significant distance. However, we were informed about that and the likely cost before the actual move. Quote from my wife after the move: "Be sure to say that Benjermin is the best foreman possible. He should get a six star rating in a five star system."

Overall a very good moving experience! Junior, Willie, and Cricket were very competent, nice, and helpful. Really good group of guys. We had a very complex move (moving some items to storage and some to a new house) and 100% of the items ended up in the right place (which was quite the accomplishment)! All the stuff was wrapped really well and handled really well too.The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is: The move was a little slower (took more time) than some of our previous moves in Marin. This was due to the size of the truck being a bit on the "tight" side for our belongings -- Rob did an excellent job "tetris-ing" everything in and it all fit but that took up some extra time. The other reason it's 4/5 is that when I called about wardrobe boxes, the person I spoke to said we had to buy then.

Nice Guys MOvers
First off, these guys are our saviors!! My boyfriend and I were moving from LA to San Rafeal, CA and planned our move months ago with a different company. That company who will remain nameless (jk, it's westcoast movers - DONT USE THEM!!) totally screwed us and never showed up day of and then tried to push our move back to the next day which f'ed up our plans even more. Needless to say, we called Nice Guys movers that day in a panic and asked if they had any availability. They were incredibly helpful over the phone (thanks Ana!) and then within just a few hours 3 men came to the rescue! They were efficient, friendly and thorough and were in and out in less than 45 minutes. I couldn't recommend them enough! Do yourself a favor and hire these guys for your move!

My husband and I moved from Windsor to Santa Rosa was a PLEASURE to work with. They took the stress of moving away. The guys were extremely friendly and helpful. They worked very fast and even carried huge furniture pieces all by themselves (not assisting one another). They are extremely strong...there were times when I looked away because the one guy carried an entire chunk of our couch upstairs. Yeah...there was NO elevator at the place we were moving to...and we lived on the top floor. They carried extremely heavy boxes one-by-one up the stairs. Now that I'm moving again (a year later), I thought about Nice Guys Movers and how amazing our experience was with them....but this time we are moving too far to make use of them :( I wish we could! THANKS GUYS!!

Beyond just "good" & "excellent" ratings above, I wanted to say specifically just how wonderful our team (Benjamin & Will) were to work with; they were not only agreeable & helpful, but just downright nice & friendly guys, which was good for me since I'm a "bad" mover (I get emotional & upset very easily!). We had one major snafu through no fault of theirs, & I think they felt as badly about it as I did! I ended up having them move more items than originally estimated, just because they were so efficient & happy to do it. There was nothing I said, "Would you mind...." about that the two of them were not happy to say "Yes." They were just super, thanks again.

Need A Hand Movers
ProfessionalAffordableFastFlexibleCleanCaringTrustworthyI had to move twice in a couple of months. Jason and John helped me at the last minute not only move but pack! I had to get a 5-bedroom, 3-bath, 2-story, 2-car garage furnishings moved into storage and then into my other place in a couple month span. Jason was on time and nothing was broking or scratched. My pitbull puppy kept getting out and he would patiently stop and help me catch her. I've used Jason twice and referred him a few times already. If you need a trustworthy hand, John and Jason are definitely the Men to call/text/email or FB and he won't let you down!

Nice Guys MOvers
About 10 days ago I had this company come out to help me move. I was REALLY nervous about the move and the last thing I wanted was troubles with the movers if you know what I mean. They were EXCELLENT! They called and told me they were on their way when they said they would! They were not hurried, careful with my things, wrapped them. They were completely courteous. They moved me from a 2nd floor to a 3rd floor and did not complain once. They are my VERY favorite mover I have used in at least 10 yrs now. I move about every 2 yrs also, so that is saying something! Call them! I got Kyle and Taylor they go to school and work!

Fresh Start Movers
Fresh Start was the 2nd moving company I reached out to after another moving company bailed on me and gave me the run around. Kyle was the gentleman I spoke with over the phone and he was great. Sent me a follow up email after we talked to confirm the move. Just really great service. The crew arrived on time and went right to work. I was moving from a 1 bed room to another 1 bed room (both on the third floor) so it was really a nightmare for them. But these guys were all friendly and very professional. Hiring movers can be an added expense during a move but it is worth every penny! Thanks guys!
Tips & Advices
Yes, it’s best to empty drawers, wardrobes and chests before a move. Items always get knocked around a bit, and doors can fly open even if they’ve been taped. In fact, more often than not, movers will want to remove the drawers from a dresser--or disassemble the wardrobe to be more space-efficient.
Yes, it is customary to tip movers, but the amount varies widely. For full-service moves, a 5 percent tip is suggested, although, for extra service, some people go up to 10 percent . For small local movers, you can give each mover $10 for a few-hour job, or $20-$40 for jobs that take longer.
A bill of lading is the legal contract for the move. It provides a detailed receipt, in addition to a contract between the client and the mover. It authorizes the mover to transport the goods from one specific point to another, and it outlines the exact scope of services, with cost breakdown for those services. It also provides an itemized list of the inventory, and carrier liability protection for each declared item. Finally, it specifies the payment arrangement. Make sure to go over your itemized list extremely carefully before finalizing the paperwork--and get a copy of the full document. A good mover will go over everything on the bill of lading with the customer.
There are several items that moving companies will not move – those items will be listed on a document as “non-allowables.” These items typically fall in three categories: perishables, sentimental/personal items, and hazardous material. Perishables are food and plants. Sentimental/personal value is up to the client to decide, but usually includes jewelry, medical and dental records, personal paperwork, valuables and collectibles. Hazardous material is the tricky category, since it includes a lot of everyday items found in the garage, garden or kitchen. For example, cleaning liquids and pesticides both are considered non-allowable by many companies. Some go so far as to disallow nail polish and batteries.
A binding estimate means that the moving company cannot charge more than the stated amount, though they can lower the final bill if the scope of the job was smaller than expected. A non-binding moving estimate is more likely to wind up costing more than expected, since the movers can increase their rates for unforeseen variables like stairs, “long carry” and materials.
