Emission Time
Don't ever go here! The manager, Gunder, is very unprofessional. They have no concern for their customers' vehicles. They got oil all over our steering wheel and hood (damaging our PlastiDip wrap paint job) and will not own up to it nor work toward a resolution when we confronted them. Spoke to a Sandy police officer and he knows of this place and Gunder well and recommends we never go back. Still awaiting to hear back from owner on resolution. I've never had to leave a business review like this before. Beware where you take your vehicles.

Emission Time
Last week i made an appt on line (so easy, yay!) for a safety/emission check with Sandy location. They got me right in. While there, i was so impressed with the employees that I asked for an oil change also. Upon safety inspection, they discovered that my upper engine mount was completely broken. Gunder showed me the part, which I always ask for now, because as a female, I have been taking advantage of many times in the automotive industry. He gave me the best deal they had and was so kind. It was repaired very quickly. Of course my air filter was shot too, etc. These guys showed me everything and patiently answered/explained any questions I had. Gunder us very upfront and honest and helpful beyond call of duty. Other employees were quick, thorough, and friendly. Being new to SLC this summer, I am thrilled to have found an auto repair place I feel I can TRUST. Kudos!! And THX!

Larry H. Miller Used Car Supermarket Sandy
I was foolish enough to purchase a car from the Larry H. Miller used car superstore, they lied about the vehicle, when I paid for a separate mechanics inspection from the Larry H. Miller Chrysler dealership across the street, they also lied in collusion with Doug Webb, the salesman to say the 2008 Chrysler 300 SRT8 I purchased had never been in an accident. I discovered the depth of their lies when I returned to purchase another vehicle and the truth came out about my previous purchase. I had gotten in an accident that was the other drivers fault. When I filed for depreciated value, I was denied and they informed me that the vehicle had been in 3 severe accidents previously. The damage had exceeded $20,000 in repairs on two of them and $13,000 for the third. When I had the Larry H. Miller Chrysler dealership do the mechanics inspection, I specifically told them to look for any indications of accident damage and they lied and said it had never happened.I was told the truth the day after I had selected a truck that I was seriously considering purchasing. When I confronted them about the whole thing and said I didn't want the truck and didn't want to buy anything from a dishonest dealership they used the extended test drive form I signed as a contract to force me to buy a truck that I didn't want and then upsold the interest on my financing, rolled $3,000.00 from my Chrysler into the new loan on the truck and forced me to pay for it all because I told the manager that I was not happy with their dishonesty. All told, Larry H Miller dealerships have cost me almost $30,000.00 due to their lies and horrible business practices. No one should ever buy a car from them. They wholesale the cars from their other dealerships to themselves and mark them up by $2,000 to $5,000 and then show you paperwork that says they are selling you the car for around $500 over the purchase price. These tactics of artificially inflating the price are acceptable business practices in Utah.

National Isuzu
Never never never go to National Auto Plaza. The classic stigma of car salesmen being scammy, scummy, cheaters is not only exemplified in the people I encountered there, but that is only multiplied. National Auto Plaza hid information about my car as a young, first-time car buyer that I found out later. They overcharge, they lie, and since I have been to other dealerships I now realize their service is also well below par; in fact it is just plain terrible. A warning to all consumers, if you want honest, fair, and friendly salesmen, then any, literally any, car dealership would be a better choice than National Auto Plaza. For your sanity, financial security, and overall happiness, please please please do not step foot in this dealership. I would also encourage every other person who has had a terrible experience to not only review that here, but to also report that to the BBB, as it is pitiful to have such a dishonest company be a representative of our community.

Pauls Auto
By far this is the best, most honest auto repair facility I have ever used, including dealerships. The mechanics are honest, knowledgable and fair, and never try to upsell expensive or unnecessary repairs. FANTASTIC place.

Protech Car Care
Went in for a diagnosis yesterday on my Subaru Legacy. The mechanic drove my car and said the noise is likely from the bearing hub on the back right. He gave me a quote to repair it ($425).
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
