A group of 25 friends and I had a party at Kingfish and it was the coolest experience ever! We had the area upstairs by the bar and we were in heaven. My friends were thrilled on the excellent looking bartenders that shook drinks as if they were in a Miami hotspot! I love Miami! Anyways, I've never took the time to write one of these but, I'm telling you it was so worth it, I had to. Great fun, delicious food, friendly staff, and very accomodating managers. Get some oysters and one of their Mojito martinis and you'll be in love!

We were visiting from fFt Lauderdale and staying in Burlingame at the Embassy. . One night it was late and we were hungry so we started to ride around to look for a restaurant. We went by Heidis and said lets go back and try this place. We did and enjoyed the dinners and the pie. When I come out to visit again soon this place will be my first stop. I dream about that Banana Cream Pie.... \r Sonny\r Concert Sound Co. CEO

3.San Mateo Prime
174 E 3rd Ave
We ate here Friday, August 23, and had a really great dining experience. It was our first visit since tey opened. Everything we ordered was prepared perfectly. Their San Mateo Prime Rib, (16 oz), was fantastic...tasty, tender and trimmed of visible fat. My wife and I each had different side dishes, and all were quite good, especially the creamed spinach. Pacing of our meal was perfect, as was the attentiveness and service of our waiter, Andrew, who was quite helpful with our wine selections, too. We will definitely return.

Astaria offers delicious lunches and dinners and scrumptious snacks for meetings. It offers a wonderful, quiet place for lunch meetings, special dinners and celebrations, and small-group gatherings. The restaurant is located in downtown San Mateo, new the new main library and "M" is for Mystery bookstore. We often make reservations there through "Open Table." We love the owner, too!

wonderful Chinese food. Sometimes the line goes out the door, but you rarely have to wait all that long, and when you do it's worth the wait. Don't be tempted to avoid the crowd by going to one of the neighboring "empty" Chinese restaurants. Everyone is at Silver House for a reason.

It's a shame that most people do not know about Bogie's who has the best desserts in the West Coast, at least. Their Grand Marnier Souffle was as good as the one I had in Roppongi, Tokyo. The only difference was the price; I paid $18~22 depends on the sauce for each souffle whereas Bogies only charges $14 for two! Bogie's is the only restaurant I know who serves Crepe Suzettes in a decent way. I am a very particular or picky customer, but whatever I ask they always are pleased to fulfill my requests and never makes me feel wrong. Some people might feel their service is slow, but it's rather nice when you have a great company to talk with. If you cannot find your parking space on a street, there are parking garages adjacent to the building and on the 2nd Street.

One of my favorite places, this family owned restaurant always makes you feel at home. The gnocci with bolognese is the best I've ever had. The kitchen loads up your plate like a good Italian mother would, you're not going home hungry when you eat here.

I just planned a private party for 55 and was nothing but PLEASED with the entire experience. Event Planner Robert was very accommodating! We had the side room entirely to ourselves and could make as much noise as we wanted with the doors closed. The service was outstanding. The food was wonderful (AMAZING desserts!) And the best part - we were there from 6-11:30pm and were not ONCE asked to leave as the night got late. We were not even bothered after the tables were cleared and the bill resolved. Would have another event here in a heartbeat!!

Creator/chef Alicia Petrakis and staff ROCK with regional comfort food & Latino, Pacific Rim & Middle Eastern influences. Stone fruits, corn and tomatoes were plentiful on this day, she shared. The dishes on our table are flavorful and fanciful. Filo “Stogies” filled with a wild mushroom duxelle (shallots, white wine, cream, gruyere, parsley) and an ashy tip of sesame seed and parmesan appear to be a fat cigar.

I grew up eating sushi in San Francisco and when we moved to the Peninsula I thought we would never find any quality sushi restaurants. Fuji Sukiyaki is one of the best for fresh sushi and sashimi I have ever had. We are now regulars and they always treat us like honored guests. Everyone I have recommended Fuji Sukiyaki to is now also a regular. If you are looking for trendy or over-sauced sushi, this is not the place for you. Try the Dragon Roll!

Every city needs a good ITALIAN deli and Ravioli House is it for San Mateo. I like a place that takes pride in their product.....a high quality sandwich calls for fresh ingredients and careful assembly to maintain balanced flavor, moisture, and structural integrity. You can't get more fresh than daily roasted turkey at the Ravioli House and the staff is well educated in the deli-torial arts. I've actually been there when they're pulling two monster turkeys fresh out of the oven in the morning like it's Thanksgiving!!! Plus, they have a wide selection of Italian dishes made fresh in-house!! Also, I met the new owner, Dan, who plans to bring some youth to this 80+ year old establishment, while only making changes to improve and not take away from everything that has made Ravioli House successful for so many years.

If you're looking for a great place to drink some sake and have some Japanese Bar food this is it! Izakaya is small dishes built to be had with beer and/or sake. They do have sushi and the ramen is also pretty good.\r \r The interior is a little cramped but has alot of character...including the train on the tracks that goes around the restaurant and the hanging model jets.

Whether it's co-workers, friends, visitors-in-town, I can never go wrong with Kaz. My co-workers and I used to have such a hard time deciding btw the Korean beef or the Chicken Katsu Curry bowl - they are both soooo good.\r \r Also as a bonus, they have Aloha drinks stocked in store. Try Kaz once and you'll be hooked.
