Atlas Painting Company
By all means let these guys bid your job. The owner was responsive and we had the quote within one business day of the request. The bid was super competitive and they showed up promptly as scheduled once we decided to use them. Even after an unpleasant delay resulting from uncooperative tenants, they returned and completed the work promptly and successfully. They went an "extra mile" to assure both landlord and tenant safe, efficient lead paint remediation under stressful, time-sensitive conditions. With no room for error, Keith and his crew were cool under fire and got the job done...Clearance tests for lead passed and we breathed a big sigh of relief. Our job was "small potatoes" but Keith gave us A-1 attention and service. We were so grateful for his involvement...Highly recommended...you really should try them.

I highly recommend Keith and his crew at Atlas Painting. The team was very professional, efficient, and friendly. Keith arrived on time for a pre-painting meeting to discuss my individual needs, and then arrived after his crew worked each day, to check that all the details were handled as we discussed. I was very pleased, and I recommend their team to anyone!

Atlas Painting Company
Atlas Painting has been doing work on my condo building for over 15 years. They are professional, efficient, considerate and competitively priced. Keith Hawkins (owner) stands behind his work and will always fix problems if our homeowners aren't happy. Its a pleasure working with Atlas and I'd recommend them to anyone.

If you have a problem with old lead paint, I think the encasement system used by Atlas is maybe the best way to deal with it. I had a pretty complicated job (6 colors), and felt that I got a high quality job that was done promptly. I found the owner, Keith Hawkins, easy to talk with and cooperative.

Great service, they did an excellent job, and they did some extra work for free. Highly recommended.
Tips & Advices
For a long-lasting paint job, a clean wall is crucial. Ask how they plan to clean your walls, if at all, before getting started. A high-quality company will thoroughly prepare a wall so that the paint will lay smoothly and last a long time.
Yes. A well-established company will have more experience and likely more references for you to reach out to than a new company that's just getting off the ground. Be sure to ask for references so you can speak to former customers about their experience working with the painter. When speaking to these people, ask about:
  • Whether they had issues with the crew
  • If the painters were messy or neat
  • How the paint has held up since the project was completed
The quality of the paint will affect how good the walls look when the project is completed. If your contractor says they plan on using a paint you don't like, feel free to request an alternative.
If the contractor makes a point to train new hires on safety techniques as well as quality standards on the job, you're probably in good hands.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of cases where a painter has stolen items from a home or caused damage to the house or injury to the homeowner. Subcontractors may not be as skilled as employees, and the contractor you're hiring may not have much experience working with them, making them more of a risk. Additionally, ask if the painters are employees or subcontractors, and what the screening or hiring process is like.
