The Touchstone is a tiny hotel with a friendly, efficient staff in the heart of the theater district. Our room was about the size of a match box, with simple but tasteful furnishings and everything in excellent working order. Little touches, from two-ply tp to chocolate chip cookies left on a plate at the front desk, made our stay very pleasant. I will definitely recommend the Touchstone to friends.
There is nothing else like it, David's Deli is truly one of the best restaurants in the city of San Francisco. They served the world famous Pastrami sandwich along with the cornbeef and turkey sandwich.Their restaurant is elegant and very nice.Thats why they are always very busy at David's.No wonder this restuarant has been there since 1958.It is truly one of the Best.......
While the hotel will draw you in with cheap rates, a good location, a quaint facade, and an admittedly fantastic diner next door, don't fall for any of it! The room was clean, but room's fixtures, many broken, suffered from neglect. The single window revealed an air-vent approximately 8x8ft. and went at least 5 stories up, leaving the room perpetually dark, stuffy, and lonely in a great city. It was necessary to climb on a dresser to turn on the TV and the amount of floor space made it nearly impossible to avoid stumbling over something.
The service was appalling--either nonexistant or grumpy.
The one benefit of this hotel is that it was so horrible, I got to see much of the city in my attempt to stay away from the hotel.
