The service is among one of the most excellent in all of the restaurants I have tried in my life! Wonderful, accommodating servers. It's a beautiful, light ambiance, quite sophisticated but don't feel overwhelmed! It's actually quite down to earth since it's in the middle of many tourist attractions. The view of the ocean is beautiful and you can see Alcatraz from a distance. As for the food, I was quite surprised to find that the fish and chips exceeded the usual quality of a typical fish and chips order. The bread bowl soups are okay and the salad selection quality depends on your order! I had clam linguine pasta and it was really good. My complaint, however, is that this place has small portion sizes. I was still satisfied at the end of the meal but I'm glad I ordered appetizers and a to go pizza. Speaking of those, the vegetarian pizza was delicious and one of the best pizzas I've had. I also have to give a shoutouts to the delectable calamari appetizers! They were quite tender with the perfect crunch. Overall, this place is reasonably priced and I will definitely be coming back.

What can I say about this place? Amazing Italian food, gorgeous ocean view, kind and friendly waiter. I wish I had gotten his name, but whoever you are, you rock! Customer service levels were on point.Fancy yet casual place. You can have wine tastings (I think), there were a bunch of elderly people with different wines on their table. Interesting concept; food restaurant service with wine tastings.Came here during a very, very busy time. Wait time took about 30-50 minutes, and surprisingly, that was the shortest wait time out of all the places we looked at, that's what brought me here.Was it worth it? For the food, yes.

We were here on our last night in San Francisco and Deon, our waiter, made it the very best! Amazing views of the bay and such wonderful Italian seafood, so charming and absolutely delicious food. We started out with the cracked Dungeness crab, so sweet and juicy. Then my husband had the Chicken Marsala and I had the Linguini and Clams, probably the best I've ever had. All the while the sun is setting on the bay. We couldn't have asked for anything better!! I highly recommend this place. It's on the 2nd level on Pier 39, don't miss it!

We were on vacation and stumbled across this restaurant on the pier. Food was really good and flavorful. Cocktails were also amazing. Our waiter, Daniel C was phenomenal. Very knowledgeable of wines and menu. He had a lot of great suggestions. He often checked back on us making sure our experience was nothing less than superb. We will be back to San Francisco and definitely going back to Swiss Louis and requesting Daniel as our waiter. Great food and impeccable professional service! Can't go wrong!

Three of us went here after being stuffed from an earlier lunch and not wanting a big meal in the early evening. They were very accommodating knowing we would just be sharing a few things. The oysters were large and succulent. We also got the steamed clams and an order of sourdough bread for dipping which was flavored delicately. We then split an entree of pasta with seafood and that didn't disappoint either. Great view and nice and sort of upscale after seeing all the other things on pier 39

We ate at this restaurant before going to see a play. We were seated at table by an open window and it was a beautiful day. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with menu choices. I got a pizza and it was this and crispy with appropriate amount of toppings. Two people shared the veal bolognese and they loved. The last ordered the meatball sandwich and said it was great. It took a little long to get our food so we were kinda rushed to get to the play, but we did and would go back again.

Really enjoyed our meal here. The pizzas and pasta are great, I had the margherita and my husband had the lasagna. Can't fault them, they were delicious. We also had an order of the garlic sourdough bread, but be advised they are very generous portions, we'd probably have been better with a half portion between the two of us. Service was brilliant, very attentive and polite. The food was a bit expensive, but it's Pier 39 so you have to take it in context. Overall, very good

Went here with the family after the Alcatraz tour. Not only was the food excellent, but the service, the service made the dining their great! Chi, was our waiter, he was awesome! He had 4 tables that was his and he was at every table for everything they needed! Because of the experience, I can honestly say, that anytime I'm at Pier 39, this is where I'm going to eat! And being that my daughters are 19 and 22, I'm sure they'll be back with their boyfriends as well!

The "Trigolia Romana" was featured as Chiaroscuro's signature dish on KQED's "Check Please' show. Very tasty dish as it is 3 flavors of fresh in house made pasta and savory Italian sauces. The Misto Italiano was spectacular since it featured several charcuterie meat, mozzarella cheese and some tomatoes. Service was awesome possum, respectful and knowledgeable. I came here for lunch but definitely need to check out the dinner sometime soon! :)

Went there on a busy Saturday & were seated within 15 min. The view is of the city, the bay with all of the boats, sea lions, etc & was gorgeous. Tracy was our server & was very sweet and attentive. We had 2 cocktails which were tasty. We had the half baked crab, the pesto linguine with salmon plus garlic bread for an appetizer. The bill (with taxes) was $93, a bit pricey, but considering the location, is pretty fair. We will come back again.
