I surprised my wife with a romantic ""getaway"" at the Majestic, a mile from where we live. I wanted it to be a very special occasion, and the hotel and especially the one bedroom suite we stayed in were perfect. One nice touch was that the bedside clock-radio had an iPod dock -- very convenient for mood music. The one and only thing I wished for was a slightly larger bath tub. We had such a great time that I'm already planning another getaway. I've been researching other hotels in the area, and so far everything else I've seen that might be as romantic is much more expensive. It's just as well, because I kind of have my heart set on returning to the Majestic.

I was honored to have worked with the original owner Richard Lieberman and Irene Lieberman back in 1983. The Hotel is not only one of a kind for senior adults, but also an opportunity for anyone who is interested in operating and assisting in hotel service and management. I was involved in dining room service, management of housekeeping and operations and as a business consultant afterwards. The statue in the garden of the Broadmoor hotel speaks of the collaborative efforts of Myself and Richard Lieberman back in the day when We established the Gardens for the Residents to enjoy during outdoor Reveries. Thanks to the Prestigious gifts of Irene Lieberman and Her Son Michael Lieberman, the Broadmoor survived and thrived past the passing of Richard Lieberman in 1987. To this day, past the passing of Irene Lieberman, the Hotel is superbly run and continues in the legacy of R. Michael Lieberman.. Thanks Michael for Your expertise and Your Supreme Sacrifice to maintain this Hotel for the Citizens of San Francisco and abroad. I will be back to visit soon!! All the Best.. Mercedes Maxwell

My companion's wedding is up at Nob Hill region which is one and only block from this inn. Contrast and what they are paying for their room, this inn is of good esteem. Conveniently situated at the Chinatown entryway and near strolling to everything. I was staying at one of the redesigned rooms on the top floor. Front work area staff is neighborly and accommodating. Room is not enormous, but rather very much outfitted. I will return and stay here once more.

I have been residing here at The Hotel Mirabelle for over a week now and realize that, for a very good price, I have discovered an exceptional boutique hotel of San Francisco. This very well taken care of victorian property is donned with vibrant colors and eloquently apropo decorations that define era's passed and various places in the world. It is a smaller, cozy hotel with her two stories. There are larger guest rooms facing the street that have those slightly rounded windows characteristic of SF victorians. I inquired about one of these rooms for a small rate increase. That is, from a weekly rate of $225 for the regular room to a weekly rate of $280 for the 'step up,' which were not available to me due to their already being occcupied. A gentleman who oversees the hotel was giving me a welcome tour of the entire place when we came upon a woman steadfastly preparing one of the rooms for a new tenant, I was introduced to her, the owner, whose demeanor was personable and unobtrusive. Three rooms were presented to me to choose from. Each was assigned a name to describe the theme of its unique design and obviously, to discern one from the next. I immediately chose my third option, the Chiang Mai Room. Textiles, in shades of deep, dark, red against a lush green Backdrop grabbed my interest. The cleverly picked antique furniture pieces each served to function throughout the space. The room seemed quite small (but with tall ceilings) at first. While lying on the well suited, full-sized bed, the room began to feel much larger and very comforting. I noticed Ralph Lauren bedding with deep reddish sateen damask sheets enveloped by a gorgeous handmade quilt. On the door, there hung, a saffron colored silk bathrobe of which I wore everyday. There were many colorful props and antique furnishings from abroad to complete the Northern Thai atmosphere that became my personal, quality space for eight nights. To boot, nice new sinks, microwaves, and refrigerator/freezers equip each room. A tv is included upon request, with an antennae, devoid of cable or satellite. there is, easy to access, complimentary hi speed wireless, of which I indulged. The toilet rooms are situated at the end of the long hall on each floor, sparkling clean with new looking everything. They are bracketed by two separate shower rooms, also very clean with new glass doors, fixtures, and tiles, similar to their counterparts. A very accomodating manager named Buddy resides in the hotel. Between his presence, two separated steel, locking entry doors and the security cameras pointed only where they ought to be, I feel very safe here. It is important to note that, the Hotel Mirabelle is generally very quiet. Rarely have I spotted a guest (two during my entire stay). For the most part, I feel like I have the place to myself, although I know this is not true. Every time I walk into the hallway, I see no one, only Victorian Charm. The bathing facilities, I also have never seen anyone use during my stay and always appear polished. A week is the minimum length of stay here and then a daily rate of $45 can be imposed, which includes tax. I have stayed in many of the B&B's and boutique hotels that San Francisco offers. New to me is the Hotel Mirabelle. She is very San Francisco - esque with her victorian features while delightfully inexpensive. You must call for an appointment to visit the hotel, Don't hesitate in taking this extra step to becoming a guest. A week at the Mirabelle is a sweet deal and like taking a breath of fresh aire.

I stay in hotels about 100 nights a year and this is one of the worst I have been to. The location is a bit disconcerting when arriving at night. Lots of loiterers around the outside and parking is well down the block and across the street and $18 a night (not too bad for SF, CA). The front desk person was not a native english speaker and did not understand much of what I was saying- or so it seemed. The room was subpar- very dingy- it felt (and smelled) like my grandmother's basement. There is no AC and my room was at least 85 degrees. I called down to discuss the issue with the front desk clerk and he persisted in not understanding what I was saying. I told him i did not think i could stay in the room given the temperature and the overall feel. He said that he would cancel my reservation- but because it was booked through my travel agent that she would have to do it. It was 1am east coast so i could not call my agent- he said to have her call tomorrow- ""No Problem"" he said. I was able to get a room at the Hilton downtown (which is exceptional) for about $30 more per night. the worst was when my travel agent called the hotel the next day. She said that they were ""the worst hotel she has dealt with in her years of experience."" She said the representative would not work with her to com to a compromise and insisted that the full rate be charged for my stay. She then asked for the manager and she said he seemed very disinterested and further went on to say that no hotels in San Fran had AC. That is odd- because all 5 of the other hotels I have stayed in around the area have AC. Avoid this hotel if you can- the grounds, staff, and management are all subpar.
12.The Metro Hotel
319 Divisadero St
this place rocks--friendly, clean, well located and so so cheap. How do they keep prices so low? Had a nice room overlooking Divisadero Street--big, sunny, a nice perch to watch SF street life from. Comfortable beds, clean showers, free fruit for breakfast. Nice, plus!
13.Sweden House Hotel
570 Ofarrell St
Place delivers a fine showing of old-fashioned hospitality from a nice older gentleman that's helpful, kind and attentive to your needs. He lives on site and treats the place like his own home. The office manager during the day is pretty easy going and professional at the same time. The most important thing is that they put together a hotel that is safe and absolutely cheap and affordable given its downtown location on the border of the Tenderloin. I come into the city and stay several weeks at a time for my work and they make it so easy to book online and reserve a spot with my credit card. Anybody who is looking for extended stay in San Francisco would find this place hard to beat in terms of safety, quality and PRICE!! BTW, their published number is wrong most of the time so go to their website instead.

The staff here have to be the best thing about this hotel! They go out of their way to make you feel at home. One staff member even gave us his parking space when he got off of work so that we wouldn't have to pay hotel parking fees. The food in the restaurant is great (order the seafood chowder)! The location of the hotel is even better. It's only about 10 minutes (by trolley) away from peir 39 (great for tourists). You definetly get your money's worth!

Overall, we were pretty satisfied with this hotel. Our room faced the bus depot and we could hear the beeping of the buses as they were backing up well into the night and early in the morning. I would definitely ask for a room on the opposite side of that to avoid all the noise. The service was good. We had several problems with our key card until they sent an employee up to investigate and found that we were just not pushing hard enough. What, I didn't know you were supposed to jam the key as hard as you could every time you wanted to go into the room?! That's never happened to me before. The location is great, close to everything!

Clean, comfortable, cheap and a GREAT location. Right next to the shopping centre, a block from the BART and a block and 1/2 from the cable car turn around. Room was small, but who goes to San Francisco to sit in a hotel room? Refrigerator and Internet connection were nice touches. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel has recently been remodeled and it shows. Will definitely stay there again.
