Allen Davis Moving Systems Local & Long Distance
This review is late in coming but needs to be done. Allen Davis and his team moved me from San Diego to Monterey Ca. the end of Dec 2016 as I had sold my home. They were fast, proficient, friendly, and the best moving experience I have ever had. All my stuff got there without a scratch on it. All that being said here's what set them miles apart for me from anyone else I could have used. To make a long story short, at the end of the day after the movers had left, keys were turned over to the realtor, my car key ended up being stolen by another outside person. Another story in itself. So there I was stranded with a packed car in the garage ready to go but quite unable to do so. My only option was to have my car towed to Honda and have another key made but being late in the day, that wasn't going to happen till the next day throwing off my whole schedule and sleeping in my car that night. I was also moving with my large dog. I called Allen out of desperation to see if he would be willing to locate and bring me my spare set of keys. When I packed I labeled boxes as to what room they went in, what was in the box, and numbered them so knew exactly what box my spare set was in. Without hesitation knowing the situation I was in, he went from his home to his storage facility, unloaded the truck till he found the box, dug out my spare keys and delivered them to me. Instead of being detained a whole day or possibly more and all the inconvenience that would cause, it only took him a few hours to do this. You can understand how grateful I was and how over the top this kind of service was viewed. I don't think too many, if any, movers would have done this. Yes, I of course cut him another check. Point is, consider no one else for your move. You will not be disappointed with this company. I cannot say enough good things about him and his crew. I would use them again in a heartbeat and don't need to even consider anyone else. Call him now!

San Diego Small Moves
I got a new reception desk from Craigslist. However, when purchasing from Craigslist, regardless of the amazing condition the desk was in, there is no delivery. So after shopping around for someone in San Diego who would move my desk only was surprisingly difficult. Most places will only do larger full office moves. The ones that were willing to move my desk wanted to charge me by the hour with a 3 or more hour minimum. It would only take a few minutes to move my desk from Mira Mesa to Rancho Bernardo. Just when I was about to use the guys hanging out under the freeway overpass, I ran across an ad for San Diego Small Moves on Google. Actually it was the same search I had been using to find all the others but they were not at the top of the search results. These guys charged me a flat fee which is exactly what I was looking. Though the price was reasonable, that was not my big issue. I would have paid more just to have my desk moved without some guy taking his time just to increase the cost. Don't let the old Ryder truck with the faded paint from the removal of the Ryder logos fool you. These guys were completely professional and prompt. They took the huge oak desk apart, packed it in blankets to keep from damaging it, and offered to put it back together for me. I know you get what you pay for, but it is not often that I am pleasantly surprised by getting MORE than I paid for.

Huge thank you to Move Central! This company is great! We had a big move of our home and home office and I was very skeptical about who we could trust to help us. I called several moving companies and felt uneasy with my experience over the phone until I spoke with Stan at Move Central - he was such a professional and knew all of the right questions to ask. I immediately felt comfortable with his ability to plan and schedule our move. The real test came on moving day and I was thrilled to see that the movers arrived on time and prepared for a long day of hard work. These guys were amazing - they handled every challenge we had efficiently, safely and without complaining. We had a piano, appliances and an entire home business to move and they figured out the best way to manage it all. They took care of the whole moving headache for me so that I could worry about other things. I have had bad experiences with movers in the past and never thought that moving could be a good experience but Stan and Move Central proved me wrong. I love these guys and I will continue to recommend them to anyone I know who is moving. Don't risk a bad experience with another company - you will not be disappointed with Move Central!!

Best Rate Movers
This company is the best long distance moving company that I have ever used. Their service is spectacular. Not only were they friendly, their services are very prompt and timely. It was definitely worth the money and made my relocation from California to Texas a whole lot easier. The best thing about it is that this company was able to move my personal belongings much quicker then I expected, especially when you consider that I had so much stuff to move. I was worried initially because I was unsure how I was able to get all my belongings across the country. That was when I picked up the phone and called this company to see if they could possibly assist me in my transition of moving to a new home. They were able to provide me with an estimated time of arrival of when my belongings will be delivered, which was very helpful since it gave me time to plan ahead for getting settled in my new home. The movers provided the man power to move all my heavy items that I never could move by myself. I am thankful for this company for providing me with excellent service and would recommend them to anyone needing a long distance.

I have moved long distance many times both in the military, and for business. None of the companies I used in the past really impressed me which is why I went searching for a new mover. After much research and conversations I settled with Best Rate Movers. My decision was based on reviews I read online as well as my conversation with my sales rep, Karen. We came up with a plan to move the items I was bringing with me and agreed upon a price. The price was said to be guaranteed based on my inventory of items we went over yet I was still somewhat skeptical. The crew, led by Marco arrived when they said they would and I must say they did a fantastic and very efficient job. My delivery came earlier than expected and upon my inspection I noticed that there were no damages at all. In addition, the price did not change from the original quote Karen and I went over. I think I have finally found a mover that I would definitely use again as well as recommend to friends and family. Thanks so much guys!

Best Rate Movers packed my 4 bedroom house and loaded everything onto their moving trailers. Sonia was our moving consultant and made sure that I understood everything and answered all my questions in advance. She called before the move to make sure that our experience went as planned and without problems. She was excellent and represented the company very well. The company custom-built two crates for our flat screen TVs. The TVs were not harmed during the move and work perfectly well. The lady packers arrived at the appointed time, looked over what was to be done, and began wrapping and packing. They did a wonderful job. We had NO breakage, not even one wine glass. The loaders arrived and began loading the trailers better than we ever would have been able to do. Our belongings arrived damage free. Thanks!

I am not one for Internet reviews, however my word is important to me and I gave my word to this company's employee that if all went well I would put the word out. I contracted these folks through a moving service on line. I was very hesitant about the entire process. When the young men showed up at my house I was a bit concerned being I had never moved with a mover. Been in Arizona for over 12 years now. The men were polite, professional and worked very hard. After all was said and done, I did have to pay more for packing of some antiques. Which was ok since they are worth more than the packing charge. I received my possessions yesterday and the delivery went smoothly although took several hours. My antiques are intact and I am relieved to be settling into my new home. Thank you again for a great job!

I was so scared to have anyone move me because the last time I moved the company I used was late, overcharged me (I didn't know till later) and broke several items and gave me the excuse, 'It happens.' I checked out the website and then called the company and let them know what I needed. They were always really polite and answered all of my questions. When I asked about specific details of the moving process I was very pleased that what I was told actually happened. I had to be moved quick because I was starting a new job. I would tell everyone I could to use this place. The are amazing. They have the best customer service I have ever seen. When the workers came to move me they were all very polite, nice in their presentation and super careful of my items. You cannot go wrong using this company!

While the workers did a good job and worked hard, I feel like I was gouged with extra fees. I had a bid to move a 2.5 bedroom condo and storage unit. They insisted it could be done with 4 men in one day. By noon they sent a second truck with two more men. Ok... they should have come to do an in house estimate. But then they couldn't finish in one day so they charged me $400 to keep my stuff in their trucks overnight. The next day they also added $230 for driving time back to the shop that night before. Seems like they messed up in the quarter and made me pay for storage and an extra hour of drive time when they had to go back to the shop anyway. ... watch out for the extra charges. I thought I was going to pay about $2200. I ended up over $4000 to move 6 blocks.

I just recently bought a new home and needed a company to move my family out of our apartment as well as unload my POD. I checked on the Internet and came across move central. After looking at their ad and seeing all that was included in a flat rate I decided to give them a call. The person that answered phone was very friendly and answered all my questions. I decided to go with them and now that we're moved I'm glad I did! I had 3 movers Viktor, Denis, and Dima come help me. These guys were great! They worked hard and were very careful with our stuff. There were no breaks or slowing down. They got to work as soon as arriving. I would highly recommend using move central and if we move again these are the guys I'll be calling.
Tips & Advices
Yes, it’s best to empty drawers, wardrobes and chests before a move. Items always get knocked around a bit, and doors can fly open even if they’ve been taped. In fact, more often than not, movers will want to remove the drawers from a dresser--or disassemble the wardrobe to be more space-efficient.
Yes, it is customary to tip movers, but the amount varies widely. For full-service moves, a 5 percent tip is suggested, although, for extra service, some people go up to 10 percent . For small local movers, you can give each mover $10 for a few-hour job, or $20-$40 for jobs that take longer.
A bill of lading is the legal contract for the move. It provides a detailed receipt, in addition to a contract between the client and the mover. It authorizes the mover to transport the goods from one specific point to another, and it outlines the exact scope of services, with cost breakdown for those services. It also provides an itemized list of the inventory, and carrier liability protection for each declared item. Finally, it specifies the payment arrangement. Make sure to go over your itemized list extremely carefully before finalizing the paperwork--and get a copy of the full document. A good mover will go over everything on the bill of lading with the customer.
There are several items that moving companies will not move – those items will be listed on a document as “non-allowables.” These items typically fall in three categories: perishables, sentimental/personal items, and hazardous material. Perishables are food and plants. Sentimental/personal value is up to the client to decide, but usually includes jewelry, medical and dental records, personal paperwork, valuables and collectibles. Hazardous material is the tricky category, since it includes a lot of everyday items found in the garage, garden or kitchen. For example, cleaning liquids and pesticides both are considered non-allowable by many companies. Some go so far as to disallow nail polish and batteries.
A binding estimate means that the moving company cannot charge more than the stated amount, though they can lower the final bill if the scope of the job was smaller than expected. A non-binding moving estimate is more likely to wind up costing more than expected, since the movers can increase their rates for unforeseen variables like stairs, “long carry” and materials.
