Bob & Al's Tires
I've been going to Bob & Al's for many years, with at least six different cars that I can remember. The staff has always been polite and professional, and have sometimes done more work than what was required without asking for additional payment. For example, I'd had some trouble with starting on one car, and the mechanic working on my tires asked me to pop the hood. He looked at the battery connections, and noted that the battery was not adequately grounded. He found a compatible part, made the repair to the battery connection, and I never had trouble with it again. Total charge for the diagnostic, parts, and labor? $0.00. This place is a class act--one of a dying breed. Honest, hardworking mechanics are hard to find, especially at major chains like Perp Boys and Shifty Lube. But the guys at Bob & Al's will do right.Oh, and another thing--I've found their tire prices to be better than chain stores like Goodyear and America's Tires. Same tires, lower prices, awesome service.

Bob & Al's Tires
Excellent service and good prices. I needed a couple of oddball tubes (7.00R16) and I couldn't find them anywhere in town. I called Bob & Al's and they knew exactly what I wanted and where to order them. They asked a couple of questions to make sure and said they would be in the shop the next day, which they were. And the price was right. I appreciate doing business with Bob & Al's.

California Tires & Wheels
Good place! Base your experience off the service & quit being judgmental. Everyone deserves a job and as long as their doing their job right that's all that matters! I hate when people try to act like they are God! This place is clean, the employees are friendly and they always provide good customer service.

Their customer service is great! They really take care of their customers. I went to a place in Montclair for wheels & tires, they tried to push damaged merchandise on me.... You can trust iwc not to work like that.

Tips & Advices
Yes. New tires purchased online can often be priced lower than ones at a tire dealership. Buyers can often avoid state sales taxes and locate hard-to-find tire styles and sizes, but will still have to locate a local tire installer and pay sometimes high shipping costs.
The average cost of a set of new tires is $637, with a range of between $525-$725. In addition, installation includes mounting and balancing, alignment, and disposal of old tires.
The vehicle is raised and the old wheels are removed, then the old tires are removed from the wheels. The lug nuts, wheels, and valve stems are inspected and replaced as needed. The new tires are mounted and sealed, then inflated and balanced. The wheels are then replaced on the car. The average installation takes approximately 45 minutes.
Agencies such as the Tire Industry Association promotes tire safety through advocacy and education to the industry including: manufacture, sales, repair, service and recycling. Seek a full-service tire dealer who carries a wide variety of tire types and brands and asks about the type of driving you normally do.
  • Move your car to a safe location.
  • Turn on your car’s safety lights, apply the parking brakes and remove the hubcap if there is one.
  • Loosen the lug nuts with a lug wrench (but do not remove them), raise the vehicle with a jack and then fully remove the lugnuts.
  • Remove the flat tire and replace it with the spare tire.
  • Tighten the lug nuts by hand, lower the car and then tighten them fully with the lug wrench.

Just a moment...
