Honestly, Melissa changed by life. I am so indebted to her. I am in my 40s, and have super fine hair, that began thinning at the crown 13 years ago after the birth of my child. I have spent over a decade battling it. I have had every blood test known to man. In sum, it’s heredity, and a hormone imbalance that only menopause will cure. Even so, I’ve tried everything. oils, vitamins, massage, Nioxin, Minoxidil, bio-identicals, Rx meds. I spent a fortune, with no results. The older I got, the more it damaged my self-esteem. When I looked down, or when you stand or sit behind me, you could see my scalp and thin patches. I became a master of concealment. The side part, strategic hairspray, hair fibers, hair pieces. Clip ins that hurt like heck and damaged my hair further. It was exhausting, sad, and so time consuming!Finally, I gave up. I started looking into extensions. Honestly, I was very skeptical. The last thing I wanted was to further my hair loss with “friction alopecia.” I researched nearly all extension stylists in SA. I eliminated the “jack of all, master of none” or one’s that are self-declared specialists who trained via YouTube. I was almost ready to give up. And then I came across “Extensions of Yourself” and Melissa. What a difference! First of all, Melissa is an educated, certified specialist, trained in a variety of methods, has seen it all, & knows her stuff. And it is quite clear that her goal is to help people, not make $. Her compassion is obvious as is her sensitivity to emotions surrounding hair loss. She truly understands what it is like to feel embarrassed about hair. I’ve never met anyone who “gets it” the way she does. In a free consultation, she carefully goes over your options, the prices, and what type of service will best fit your life style. There is no hard sell. She was honest and explained to me that HairDreams extensions can be reused two times, so you don’t have to buy new extensions in 6 months. But others, like Great Lengths, are used once and that’s it, you have to pay for both labor, and new extensions every 6 months or so. Her point was: you can opt for cheaper extensions, but it is false economy if you plan on keeping them longterm. I had been to countless salons that pushed the lower end extensions, fully aware that it means more $$$ for them. After the consult, Melissa encouraged me to think about it for awhile, even when I was ready to whip out my checkbook that very moment! So, I took my time. The cost was reasonable and under market for SA, far less than most salons. I added up all the money I spent on products, the time, the emotional toll it was taking. Two weeks later, I set up my appointment. The hair salon is intimate. You get personal attention without having to deal with the group of gossiping women. It is just you, and Melissa. The process took about 6 hours. I am hyperactive -- but somehow the time flew by. Melissa she puts earbuds in, and listens to music, leaving you free to work on a laptop (free wifi!), read, or whatever. She doesn’t waste your time taking personal calls, texting, or gossiping with other stylists. When she was done, I didn’t even recognize myself. I knew I’d feel better, but I didn’t imagine how much decent hair could improve appearance, and in turn---confidence! It is weird, but having normal hair, can make all your other features look better as well. My natural thin hair emphasized any flaw in my skin, All in all, it has been a life-changing, wonderful experience with Extensions of Yourself. I told Melissa, “I think I will die with my hair extensions in” and I meant it. I could never go back to the struggle I had before I met Melissa. She is truly a blessing. I will be a lifelong client.
P.F. Chang's China Bistro
Chang's has been my favorite restaurant BY FAR for years, but the company has a serious problem they need to address because the theme is consistent in online reviews: CONSISTENCY!!! It used to be that maybe one in ten visits to a Chang's was somewhat disappointing, but now it's 50/50 at best! To help ensure I don't have to write a bad review (because I love the company!) I asked my server (who was great) to make sure the chef knew I was a nationwide Chang's customer and that my Mongolian Beef was crispy. I'm sure the server did because he was very good otherwise. What did I get? Not only a dish that was less crispy than normal, but one that was not crispy AT ALL and also undercooked!!! P.F. Changs corporate are you listening?? Your customer base is writing bad reviews everywhere not because they don't like you but because they are tired of being disappointed after you've served them food they WANT to return to buy and instead get something that isn't as good as the frozen version at Wal Mart for $7.50 and that ISN'T sarcasm, at this point the frozen spicy chicken or sweet & sour chicken is a somewhat overpriced but tasty consistent deal and going for the REAL THING is a rip off!!!. I never send food back, and of course didn't this time, but I'm done now after eating countless entrees that were not correctly prepared (been to about 14 locations numerous times so I have an idea of what is correct). From now on it's going back and if it's not right again I walk out and write another review stating such until Chang's gets its act together or I give up on them :(----------------------------------------------------Update: I returned twice (so far) to give this location a chance at redemption after serving me nearly raw Mongolian Beef a few days earlier (that's not very crispy!), and the visit went much better. The Sesame Chicken was prepared well, although a couple times at other locations I've had it where the corners are bordering crispy like the Mongolian Beef and out of this world!) and tasted as good as it looked. The server was a young girl who leaves plenty to be desired but did an OK job (I won't be too hard because they have been slammed all holiday week and maybe she is burned out). On my next visit I got the Kung Pao Scallops and asked for them to be well cooked and they came out just fine. The real star of this visit however was a server named Mandy, a young girl who told me she has ample experience in hospitality and it shows, however, her personality is what is important and she was so pleasant and attentive that I wrote an email to Chang's corporate to make sure she is recognized and her management takes good care of her because she knows how to do the job unlike so many of the bozos we see in the world today who should not even think about working in hospitality. I've had better Chang's food, but Mandy pulled the rating right up to a 5.
This is a Restaurant you must check out for yourself & please enter your own opinion! The food is excellent. The decor is elegant & with soft music in the background. The staff & owners take personal pride in cleanliness & attentiveness! The pricing is very reasonable in comparison to the better high class restaurants. Okay, the food is awesome! This establishment specializes in Mexican Cuisine but also produces some mouth watering additional dishes to tantalize your taste buds! Speaking for the "Menu" items Dinner for one person meal is under $8.00 plus drink, tax & tip. They have Grilled items such as Alambres, Pollo a la Parrilla & Southwest Chicken! Under Non-Grilled they offer Chile Relleno, Enchiladas even Puffy Tacos! They have much more plus the Children's Meals are $4.25. They always have additional dishes list on a board when you come in that are priced accordingly. They just had a Valentine's Day Dinner that was $15.99 plus drink, tax & tip! You should have been there! The presentation was utterly awesome!!!!!!! You had a choice of either, Prime Rib, Grilled Salmon, 10oz. Rib-Eye Steak or Breaded Stuffed ChickenBreast! Served with vegetables, potatoes, roll, self-served soup and salad, plus one complimentary Dessert! Everything was fantastic according to the customers! What did I have? My favorite Prime Rib, "Oh so good; Oh so tender; Oh so flavorful!" Plus the presentation was "Out of this world!" The self-serve area was also presented with professionalism! They did not miss a beat in perfection! No reservations were required and they was no pushing and shoving! The flow was constant and no one had to wait for seating! Outstanding job goes to Ted & Vandora Chapa, (Owners), and their mighty staff of professional people! Now back to business as usual, you can eat lunch for under $7.00 plus drink, tax & tip! This IS truly a place you need to check out! By the way they can also accommodate Luncheons, Dinner groups, Church groups including Private Buffets! Oh before I forget try their "Fresh Lemonade" you will want more!
I had my first appointment with this salon. The staff is very friendly and the place was clean and stylish. I went in a couple of days in advance to ask questions and was quoted $60 for a conditioning treatment, which would drop to $35 if you included hair color. I made the mistake of not getting a firm answer of how much for a haircut. I have mixed textured curly hair that is slightly shorter than shoulder length. I was assured that they have experience with my hair type. The day of my appointment, I was seen promptly and offered a beverage and snack. My stylist gave me 100% of her attention and answered what questions I had. These are the sweetest ladies you'll meet. The conditioning treatment for my hair was beyond what I have expected. My stylist then spent time giving me a wet cut, straightening my hair, and a dry cut followed. She did a magnificent job at taking away the split ends and giving my hair a healthy look. At the end, my hair was only straightened and not styled as discussed prior to drying. I also asked for a product to help prevent frizz, to which one was applied. The cost of what I requested: shampoo, conditioning treatment, cut, and straightening with a flat iron was $130. I inquired about the breakdown of my cost and was informed the conditioning treatment was $65 and the haircut was $65. I left the salon to another indoor location and my hair was frizzy in 15 minutes. My experience was not horrible but I cannot say it was the best. This is the most I have ever paid for these specific services, ever. I enjoy the feel of my hair and it appears to be healthier but I left there without a style and frizz that followed shortly after.
I always bring my friends who are in need of a haircut/hairdo to this salon. I've always spoken so highly of Avalon because of all the services they provide. I'm always offered a beverage of choice and treated with dignity and respect by the staff. The customers at this establishment are always pleasant. Booking an appointment is so easy. I come here for Denise because I've established a loyal relationship with her. She is very knowledgeable and I have never left disappointed. My best friend who is in the military came to Denise with damaged and dry hair. With Denise's recommendations, my best friend was extremely satisfied with her now shiny and healthy looking do. As for myself, Denise always does a great cut and color, she listens- and I trust her. Most of all, she's very knowledgeable. I came in with a dry scalp, she treated my hair, and gave me invaluable tips... I woke up this morning with a calm/moisturized scalp, YAYYY!!!Bottom line, Avalon Salon is great. Denise is great, the manager has consistently been welcoming of customers, and the staff have always been wonderful.
I had the best experience getting full highlights at Beauty Storm with Cindy! Normally, I dread going to new stylists because my hair is “problematic”. It’s long, curly, dry, and very thick. Usually stylists have a very hard time working with it and I rarely get what I asked for. But I went in last week for a free consultation with pictures and Cindy really put my mind at ease. Today my appointment ran long (hours) but that being said, I do have a ton of hair. Frankly, I’m happy/relieved that she took her time and did a good job instead of rushing or half-assing the job! And my hair came out perfect. It was exactly what I wanted, and I can’t see myself going anywhere else now. And here is the best part: her prices were incredibly reasonable. I’ve paid over $300 for full highlights before at Ulta salon, and usually mom and pop salons charge at least $200. Cindy charged way less than that. Ladies, if you are looking for a new stylist, look no further!
