We love this range! The owners are so great! We've always received nice service and they are very gracious. They keep the range very safe and extremely clean. Three things I really like are: one, the staff actually operate the ranges by calling cease fire and they trade out the targets instead of you having to do it on your own and asking everyone else to stop shooting to do it; second, the spaces/tables are divided by hardware cloth as walls which creates your own designated space for shooting; and lastly, the pistol and rifle ranges are both covered over the spaces/tables so you are in shade. The staff does pick up the empty shells between target trade outs to keep the areas clean - however, you can keep your empty shells if you want, you just have to let the staff know it put them in your bag before the staff comes by to empty the containers. The prices are very reasonable, too. We've come here probably about 15-20 times.
I am so sick of Internet bitching! The Owners are NOT rude or unprofessional, They ARE, however, VERY professional and SAFE. BUT, there are a ton of SENSITIVE EGO Maniacs that can't handle straight forward direction. If you are too sensitive and emotional to accept direction, then you probably shouldn't have a gun in the first place. Go take a class and the Fu@! Over it!
This is one of the best places in town!!!
Awful owners. And very poorly run. Lack of rules or procedures. And customers are firing everywhere. Very unsafe.
Great place, friendly, professional
I don't see why there are negative reviews on the owner. I find he and his wife to be very friendly and polite. They are very safety conscious and Iam sure if you act like a knucklehead he would probably kick you out. Just follow safety rules and you will have an enJoyable time at Bracken.
I fully agree with jskeens56. The rangemaster has a horrible attitude. Although I am no pyschiatrist, I believe that the rangemaster has a mental disorder, and being around firearms is probably not the best occupation for him.
I am a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Army, I have served in many different Infantry and Armor units- believe me, I am accustomed to people yelling at people.
I can understand that yelling and attitude are justified when there is a safety issue.
But when there isn't a safety issue. Why the yelling and attitude?
So here we are back at the question of mental disorder again....
this rangemaster is a born loser with a gun which gives him an attitude.
I second jskeens56 again- by saying THIS PLACE AND THIS GUY ARE GOING TO BE ON THE NEWS!
Do not go to Bracken if you are experienced with your weapons and wish to enjoy shooting them. Do go if you want to be highly supervised and treated like a child. I have been twice, and both visits were miserable. You can not use your own targets. You are constantly eye-balled by the condescending, RUDE, and questionably insane range master. During my last visit, the range master confronted me on the pistol range for firing more than one round every two seconds. I was firing one round per second. He considered this rapid firing, and literally screamed at me for it as if I was an unruly child. When I asked him what rate of fire he would like me to keep, he pointed his finger at me, less than two feet from my face, as if he were about to challenge me, and yelled ""One round every two seconds! I'm telling you, and I mean it!"". I did not appreciate it much at all. I simply finished shooting because I had already paid. I will not return EVER. Besides, this moron range master is going to pop off to the wrong idiot with a loaded .45, and I do not want to be around when that happens. But, I will shake my head and say ""I told you so"" when I see it on the news. Besides, they are way over priced, and only have a 100 yard rifle range. Thumbs down.
Friendly folks but not much to the operation. Limited supplies but lots of room to shoot. $7 per gun - no auto or rapid fire and no assault pistols. Pistol range was better before they added an awning that is now in the way if you're taller than 5'6".
