General InfoOur clinic was founded in 1922. Alamo Dog & Cat Hospital is the oldest small animal veterinary practice in Texas. Dr. U.E. Marney founded the hospital and at that time, it was called the Veterinary Service Institute operating as Alamo Dog & Cat Hospital for large and small animals. It was a full service hospital also offering ambulance service and all grooming and pet needs. After Dr. U.E. Marney, Drs. Parker, Brown, and Culpepper operated the practice until 1971, at which time Dr. Eric Lange Dr. Ronald Orrell took over the practice. Dr. Mark E. LaBrie has owned and operated the hospital since 1984. The hospital remained in the same location since it was founded until May 2004 when a new facility was built behind the old building. I took my dog and have recommended this location to a great friend that LOVES her dog. The staff is always very courteous and the Vet's are very generous with their time and knowledge. They are very kind to our pets as well and sympathetic. However I do feel like I over spent. But I guess for the peace of mind that our family members are well, there is no price, if we can pay it. :)
These guys are the best. I have to admit I don't like taking my pets to the vet but I had to make a trip recently because my pet was starting to concern me. I thought my cat had mange or some type of bug. I went in after they opened, signed in and waited for about 20 minutes. Best wait time experience, similar to a walk in clinic for humans. The vet tech who called me in was friendly and very professional.
After my feline companion had his stats taken the vet tech left and came back a few minutes later with the vet himself. He came in looked at my cat (including his underbelly, he's so fat!) and then checked his ears and the scabbish looking spots where my cat had been scratching. He was able to come to a quick diagnosis and offered me two solutions. Apparently my cat has an allergy to something in the apartment we live in.
Needless to say I was totally at ease with this vet visit and would highly recommend them to anyone else.
