Six if us ate there last night the quality of the food went down and the prices way up.We will not return.
Food OK but service totally unsatisfactory. It was so bad and so slow that I will never go back and will recommend to my friends that they avoid this place. The waitress was slow in every aspect....slow to bring the food, slow to get the to go box, somewhat argumentative when settling the bill....refused to accept buy 1, get 1 free coupon from Lackland AFB, refused to grant seniior citizen discount....seemed very confused and in the process presented very poor customer service, She knew one in party was paying for another one (farewell lunch), but wrote separate tickets and couldn't figure out how to ""fix it"" so each in party paid their own. Bottom line: Service was memorable in a negative sense. I won't be returning and neither will my friends.
I live in Cibolo and wanted crawfish. I called around and called this place. They said they had plenty so I drove THIRTY TWO MILES. They seated me at a table to the right of the fireplace where the outside floodlight shines right in your eyes and the waitress said THEY WERE OUT. I asked to the the manager but the manager never showed their face. She came back a few min later and said they ""found"" a pound. I said I would take it and also ordered the alligator strips. The crawfish was okay and took about 7 min to eat, the alligator strips came with a bowl of gravy to dip in and were a waste of money. They NEVER refilled my drink once and my mouth was burning at the counter. When I realized I had to pay up front the lady who brought my measley pound of crawfish said they had found a pound or two more.....this place ruined my monday night and cost me A LOT of gas in my big truck driving 64 miles for NOTHING.
This place has made an enemy and I will do everything i can to keep people from going there
After a wonderful movie, we happened upon this great cafe in the same parking lot - and boy are we glad we did! No wait (@ 6:45 pm on a Saturday...) friendly staff, great waitress and really great food - all of it. We were considering ordering take-out to enjoy the next day....when we decided to just come back the next day! We're visiting from out of town, and will definitely be passing the name of The Acadiana Cafe to all our friends who visit San Antonio.
My family and I have frequented Acadiana frequently (once a week) for the past 5-6 years. However, in the last 3 months we have had 3 horrible experiences. On one occasion we had been seated and ordered our appetizer waited for 20 minutes still no appetizer yet another table was seated next to us and had been seated about 5 minutes when they received the same appetizer we had ordered 20 min before. Upon questioning of our waitress she stated they were friends of the owner. That was supposed to make it all better? Last month we visited and had a waitress that refused to take our order did not even acknowledge our table. This Friday after a month hiatus we returned and again were not attended to by a waitress for along time. In fact another waitress approached our table and said that our waitress was ill but that she would take our drink order until the waitress was available.. However, "our" waitress was waiting on "white" customers but refused to come take our order. I don't know what the problem is . Is it that we are an interracial couple? I would say stay clear of Acadiana it is simply not worth it. Times are tough and if you won't take my order there are plenty of other restaurants in this city that would love to have my $.
The food has gone downhill every since Frenchie and that Cajun guy that used to boil crawfish outside have gone away. Service is bad too. A friend convinced me to go with her last week. I haven't been there in a while because if was so bad but she insisted so I went. She found a fly in her tea, the food was bland and the service staff were fighting over whose table we were. I won't be going back!
I've been to Acadiana 3 times, for the most part it's a great restaurant with a friendly down-to-earth feel to it.
However on my most recent visit I must say I was very disappointed with the catfish, actually two of the three time's I've eaten there I've had the catfish and was disappointed both times. The first time was a lunch portion so I figured maybe it was supposed to be has tiny has it was, but when I ate there last night and ordered a dinner portion of the catfish the filets were still extreamly small with a lot of crust and very little fish. You can get much bigger filets of catfish and better tasting catfish for a substantially lower price at Grady's BBQ. The cajun nachos from the appitzer menu were avg. at best. Overall I do plan to return to Acadiana but will not be ordering the catfish again there unless they decide to purchase bigger filets. Thank you for taking the time to read my review folks.
I've been to Acadiana several times when visiting family in San Antonio. It's always quick for seating, although a little noisy. The food is GREAT Southern-style and Cajun cooking. Mom loves the chicken and dumplings, while I go for the fried fish platter. We recently had a group of twelve here, and we all had a wonderful meal and a good time.
first time visit, great comfort food, very welcoming atmosphere, went on a friday night, their busiest night, service was still great
