Almighty Movers
Awesome is what I have to say about them.Okay, I never write a review but felt I had to here. I am really hard to impress overall, I was leery about just opening yellowpages.com and picking a random mover, especially with all that could go wrong. When my scheduled mover blew me off yesterday, Saturday, I called Almighty Movers to see if they could help me out today, Sunday. They quoted me over the phone and scheduled me. The next morning they were clear in their communication with me as to when they would be arriving and when they were stuck in traffic, called to let me know. Two great guys showed up and introduced themselves. Very polite, very professional. Then they got to work. After about 20 minutes of watching I knew I didn't need to follow them around all day, they knew what they were doing and they did it. I just tried to stay out of their way. There was no goofing off or milking the clock or horsing around. They worked hard, they were careful and detailed about moving the larger items of furniture as well as the boxes of dishes and breakables. Wow, I am beyond impressed! My apartment was on the second floor, so stairs were the nemesis and I had a TON of boxes. I never heard complaining, I never heard a gripe, I never saw them bump walls or doors, they just did it. This started out to be the move from hell, but Almighty Movers came through in a huge way with NO drama. Thank you SO much, I will refer you to anyone I know AND I will call you the first time when I need you again. You have my loyalty.

Freedom Packing & Moving
This is Isaac , owner Freedom packing and moving, I am very sorry to hear your moving experience was a bad one. But I must say , you are correct I did book you and did call to confirm but, your wife stated she booked another company before us and decided to stay with them but never notified me of this. So we hung up and I booked someone else for that spot, then the day of she called me telling me, Where are you why aren't you here? At this point I reminded her that she had cancelled us and went with someone else, She said, Well those movers didn't show up and you need to get here asap if you want this money, I explained to her that I couldn't due to us already at the job site working . She got so mad starting being very disrespectful , cussing at me, telling me I better listen and get my a#* there now.I did apologize in advance but I did tell her that I would not tolerate her verbal abuse or her threats. I did tell her that I was hanging up and it wasn't our fault in the first place. She cancelled us in the first place. Of course she called me repeatedly even from different numbers being even more disrespectful as if this helps. So I hung up again. No one should have to tolerate that type of behavior. I had no choice but to ignore her, we cannot engage in this she only made it worse. Once again I am sorry for your experience but this was all your wife's doing. Isaac Flores Owner

Move Busters
I hate the tells-you-nothing reviews so here's my total experience. We are a retired military family so moving is nothing new for us just generally we're moving much farther away. Move Busters was easy to contact and was responsive both via phone and email. They were able to book a move very quickly, on a Sunday, during a holiday three day weekend. The price is good. The laborers were friendly and the truck was in good shape. Nothing was broken and nothing is missing. All bonus' so far. I was booked for nine, they showed up at 11:30. I booked four hours which, in my experience, should have been more than enough time for the move. It took them six hours. The laborers were very vocal about being upset that it was a move to a third floor apartment. They also spent a lot of time on the phone, not sure if it was business or not. In the end, not the worst movers I've ever had but maybe not top notch either. I think you get what you pay for and these guys were cheap but well worth the help.

Allstate Christian Moving Services, LLC
First of all their crew arrived ahead of schedule which was a first for us, (due to a bad previous experience with another co. we were very nervous about the move.) We were assisting our disabled son with his relocation to his new home - GREAT EXPERIENCE.The movers were very curtious, helpful and fast. We stopped in several locations to p/u extra stuff out of storage and new items from a furniture store. The movers followed along p/u, delivered and set up everything just as we requested. They even picked up the packaging from new furniture and hauled it of to trash for us, without us asking. Also the cost was right on the money, no extra fees, etc. the horrors you read about. We picked them because co. had a insert in the name "Christian" and we were not disapointed, these men acted professionaly and used no foul language as matter of fact I found out that owner attends Cornerstone church, and it shows........Would highly recommend this co. to anyone. Freedom Packing & Moving
Freedom movers had saved me twice! The first time I paid for a "white glove delivery service" for a brand new sofa, that company barely even tried to get it through the door before giving up and leaving me by myself without a way to move it inside. I called Freedom movers and even though it was around 5pm they were SO NICE, calmed me down, and made it out within 90min to help me with my couch. The second time, I will be forever grateful. I had planned to move out of state at the end of the month to help my father through his chemo treatments as he was just diagnosed with late stage cancer. But when he was unexpectedly hospitalized and in ICU, I knew I had to pack my things and go immediately. Freedom movers helped me move with less than 12 hours notice.. They even showed up 15 minutes early. I was able to take the first flight out the next morning to see my Dad thanks to them. They are genuine, kind, and courteous. I can't say enough good things about this company.

Half Price Movers
I have used Half Price Movers 3 different times, many years apart. I moved 11 years ago and had a lot of medical equipment that was very fragile among my entire house. A few years after that we moved my grandfather. Two weeks ago we moved my parents, who has a lot of antique furniture, antique china, and lots of fragile items. Each time the workers were on time, if not a little early, extremely careful with everything, and most of all, these men were so courteous to me, my grandfather, and my parents. They went above and beyond to make sure nothing got broken, wrapping all the furniture so nothing would even have the smallest mark on it. My parents are retired military and this was their 22nd move. They told the men they have never experienced such friendly, courteous, and careful movers in all the moves they have had. I have recommended Half Price Movers to everyone who is need of a moving company.

Scotts LawnService
I have 1 and 1/2 acres that I needed mowed. Due to the rain we have had over the last four weeks our yard had gown up to knee height. When the Scott's Lawn Service team of men showed up to do the job, they came without having the proper equipment for a job the size of my yard. The team did finish the job, but it was cut unevenly, because they cut a lot of my side yard and back yard with only a weed eater. They arrived late both days and did not provide their own five gallon water dispenser, thus the team kept knocking on my door asking for cold water in their 16 ounce bottles. The estimate that I was given for the job was $100.00. After the team had mowed ONLY my front yard they started to say it would be over $200.00 more to finish the job. Don't believe their estimates or the time they will arrive. I do not recommend anyone that has more than a 1/4 acre lot use this service.

Freedom Packing & Moving
First let me state that in 13 years of military service i have moved A LOT! Freedom is by far the most efficient and effective movers I have had the pleasure of hiring. The price was more than fair, Isaac and Bobby were more than professional, oh and BTW they took my job on less than 24 hour notice. Watching these two pros work was like watching a very practiced and harmonious drill team putting the pieces of our life in a truck with precision and care. I read the other reviews that called these pros "liars" and "untrustworthy" and I could not disagree with them more. While I'm sorry that their moving experience wasn't as pristine as ours...I must say that i cannot see how we could be speaking about the same company. I would hire this company again tomorrow...thanks for the A+ job and the connect to the cleaning service!

Freedom Packing & Moving
You have to use these guys!!!! I have moved twice with-in San Antonio and I could honestly not ask for better people and quality movers. Not only were they quick and efficient but they were good quality guys, careful with my belongings, and the cheapest price with a flat quote. Isaac is the owner and he works side-by-side with the other workers. They ask I sit back and just chill while they moved me. I watched them wrap my furniture in the truck with blankets they brought without being asked. When they came back in I asked, Why did you wrap them? Is it extra? The owner Isaac, laughed and said, "No, I am not going to charge you extra for just doing my job." I tell everyone I know to call Isaac and use this company. They are fast, lowest price, and a pleasure to work with.

Alpha Omega Movers
I used Alpha Omega Movers approximately two years ago in 2011 and was very satisfied. The movers were careful with my property and very courteous. I can honestly say that nothing was stolen or damaged during the move. I contacted them once again this month May 2013 and set an appointment for 06/01/2013 at 9 am.due to the excellent job they did back in 2011. I hope that I will be completely satisfied once again although I have read some concerning reviews from unsatisfied customers. I do know that all it takes is one rotten apple to ruin a company's name. I will continue to use this moving company and will recommend it to family and friends based on my personal experience and on other Postive Reviews I read.
Tips & Advices
Yes, it’s best to empty drawers, wardrobes and chests before a move. Items always get knocked around a bit, and doors can fly open even if they’ve been taped. In fact, more often than not, movers will want to remove the drawers from a dresser--or disassemble the wardrobe to be more space-efficient.
Yes, it is customary to tip movers, but the amount varies widely. For full-service moves, a 5 percent tip is suggested, although, for extra service, some people go up to 10 percent . For small local movers, you can give each mover $10 for a few-hour job, or $20-$40 for jobs that take longer.
A bill of lading is the legal contract for the move. It provides a detailed receipt, in addition to a contract between the client and the mover. It authorizes the mover to transport the goods from one specific point to another, and it outlines the exact scope of services, with cost breakdown for those services. It also provides an itemized list of the inventory, and carrier liability protection for each declared item. Finally, it specifies the payment arrangement. Make sure to go over your itemized list extremely carefully before finalizing the paperwork--and get a copy of the full document. A good mover will go over everything on the bill of lading with the customer.
There are several items that moving companies will not move – those items will be listed on a document as “non-allowables.” These items typically fall in three categories: perishables, sentimental/personal items, and hazardous material. Perishables are food and plants. Sentimental/personal value is up to the client to decide, but usually includes jewelry, medical and dental records, personal paperwork, valuables and collectibles. Hazardous material is the tricky category, since it includes a lot of everyday items found in the garage, garden or kitchen. For example, cleaning liquids and pesticides both are considered non-allowable by many companies. Some go so far as to disallow nail polish and batteries.
A binding estimate means that the moving company cannot charge more than the stated amount, though they can lower the final bill if the scope of the job was smaller than expected. A non-binding moving estimate is more likely to wind up costing more than expected, since the movers can increase their rates for unforeseen variables like stairs, “long carry” and materials.

Just a moment...
