Great 80's room, large Tejano and Country bar, big dance floors.
April 2012 I?ve been a karaoke junkie since the summer of 2011. Since then, my addiction has taken me to karaoke hot spots all over California and Texas. The most popular place I?ve been to was The Brass Monkey in Los Angeles, California where all sorts of celebrities have been known to croon over a song or two. That being said, I can confidently say that Dad?s Karaoke Bar in San Antonio, TX is, by far, unsurpassed when it comes to song selection, fair rotation orders, customer service, quality of patronage and location, location, location! Dad?s Karaoke Bar is a charming, quaint-looking tavern off of Loop 410 and Vance Jackson in Central San Antonio. As you enter, the first thing you notice is the library designed stage area where you can actually pull real books of the shelf. (Apparently, the original owner was a retired lawyer and finally found a place to put all his old law books.) More interestingly, you won?t have much time or desire for literature once the KJ gets the party started. The studious decor gives the place a classy feel and seems to appeal to the same sort of clientele. Rumor has it, that some of our own home-grown celebrities have been known to frequent Dad?s Karaoke. The very first night I went to Dad?s Sing-A-Long Club, I went alone and walked towards the KJ (Karaoke Jockey) booth to sign up for a song. It was a Saturday and a full house. I was nervous because as I started to listen to the patrons go up and sing, I realized that this is where all the other karaoke ?addicts? came as well. I listened to some Whitney Houston, Adele, Journey, Heart, Vanilla Ice, and even some Boy George. Then, it was my turn. I decided to sing Nobody by Sylvia, a pop country song from back in the day. I messed up a little bit, but the crowd still cheered and hollered and made me feel like I was in a Jem and the Holograms episode. That night I met Bill, Chris, David, and Dana. Later, I met CiCi, Chip and the ever rambunctious, yet extremely talented, Sincere. These are just a few of the ?regulars? who welcomed me with open arms and have made Dad?s my very own personal Cheers, where everybody knows your name. I?ve been to every karaoke bar in town. I?ve even had a few mobile KJ favorites. If karaoke, good drinks and friendly conversation is your thing, then Dad?s Karaoke is the place to go. Irma

Absolutely phenomenal entertainment! It is hard to believe such talent could all be assembled under one roof. Each entertainer could play a varied assortment of instruments and play them all well. How they remember all those songs and music, and can still work the crowd is beyond me. We've talked about going to HatM for a long time - it was well worth the wait and will put it at the very top of the list of things to do next time we come to SA. Wonderful, wonderful entertainment!

I've always had a great time here. The music was great and the staff knows how to help you have a great time. I danced so much the next day i felt like i was working out all night. I've been here at least four times and have had a great time every time. If you open a tab they do make you sign a paper promising to pay $100 but thats only in case you leave without paying, this gives them permission to use your card for your tab but only if you dont pay.

In the short time that this place has been open it has become the place to go if you want to dance to the best new dance music. NOT the same old radio top ten that everywhere else calls new. Heat plays the same music that's being played in the hottest clubs in Miami and New York. It's primarily a gay club but there is a complete mix of people both gay and straight who go. Other places are trying to compete by offering cheap water downed drinks because they can't even come close to the atmosphere and music that's being played here. Saturday's is the best night to go for dancing and Thursday and Sunday's are the best if you want to see a show. They even offer the cheap 75 cent drinks on Wednesdays for those who want the best music but are on a budget.

Wednesday nights are the place to be if you enjoy Karoake! I have been going to MAKE MY DAY for over two years now and it is TOPS in my book! Larry and Madonna are the KDJ's and they are top notch! They are professional musicians/singers themselves. Their selection is ENORMOUS and their equipment is the top of the line! If you want to bring your own CD's - that's okay too! The folks that sing there bring a wide variety of music to the stage, you will be well entertained! This is great place for FIRST TIME KAROAKE singers... Larry and Madonna do a great job making you feel comfortable and confident. Karaoke starts at 9:00 pm on Wednesday nights! Hope to see you there!
25.Easy Street Night Club
15033 Nacogdoches Rd
Easy Street is a classic example of a ?dive? bar. Not too big, not too small. This place is tucked in the back of the strip center. Come as you are and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. With 5 beers on tap and a plethora of bottles chilling on ice, they are sure to suit your taste with a wide range of liquors to choose from as well. Play your favorite games on the bar-top arcade or rack?em for a game of pool on one of the 3 tables. If you are more into darts, they have 2 electronic soft tip boards for you to play on. If there are sports on TV, they are showing it on one of the 5 flat screens. Come in from the Texas heat, enjoy the recently upgraded A/C, and watch your favorite team with an ice cold beer.

I was there last week and I seen some old red headed lady sell drugs out side of the club. The bartenders where great. There was a fight whe I was there, and I noticed some minors had got in. The place is really small for all those people. It would be good to go during the week and not weekend. Alot of people who are there are very stuck up and I noticed that. The only thing really that is good is the beer was cheap. I have been to better gay bars in the unted states. this one i really would not recrommend to many people. Same with the saint.

We checked out last night's launch of Play Thursdays to support some friends who were spinning and painting body art with intentions to buy a bottle. We were on the free list, but it was close to one, and the cover charge guy said the list closed at midnight and was condescending about it. Someone told him to only charge us half the cover, which was ok at best. We went straight to the bar and waited forever to get a drink while the bartender was dicking around and taking his own shots. My boyfriend asked him what was taking so long, and the bartender rudely replied, "You can't afford it or what?", told my boyfriend to go f**k himself, and, as we walked away from the bar, he threw ice at my boyfriend's face like a little girl. We went to the other bar across the room, but it was closed, a huge inconvenience considering the crowd size. We had not been there for more than 20 minutes and wanted to get our money back and leave, but the cover charge guy could only refer us to the owner. The owner offered us a free first round of drinks, but I definitely would have preffered our money (and our time, what a waste!) back. It was hot as hell in there, and I saw a bunch of girls that looked under 18. Give me a break. Shame on you, Club Rio!
800 Lexington Ave
One of the worst clubs in San Antonio!!!!! They are very racist towards Afircan American patrons. The club has two sides. One with a fairly huge dance floor where they play al the top 40 and the back area which is small that they play hip hop. They have recently changed all the staff and the new staff is VERY rude to say the least. The club is very disgusting. The women's restroom always smells like old sewage and is never clean. The guys restroom is the same and almost always has leaking plumbing. The General manager is an egotistical maniac and very unprofessional. My suggestions of clubs to patronage would be the Bonham exchange, Pegasus, The Heat and any other club on the strip that actually know a thing or two about customer service. I was overcharged on my tab and before I could get any explanation as to why they tried to kick me out the club! Definitely not a trustworthy bar! Save your money and time and go somewhere you are appreciated as a paying customer
6740 San Pedro Ave
Stagnant atmosphere, mediocre crowd and close looped bar hops. Aside from the decent music and once in a great moon acts, this place is properly placed in San Pedro where you wouldn't drive by...unless you were going to HEB on Oblate, getting a sandwich at Schlotzkys or just flat out lost. Don't waste your time or you $5, $6, or $7 bucks getting in (depending on the night).

Do i have to even put one star? Well first of all you walk in to a cloud of smoke that just follows you everywhere. The people there are so hi on themselves and other things if u know what i mean...Drinks were bad and overpriced, entertainment was awful i think the dj was more wasted than the spikey haired bartender.. First review had it right trailor trash no thank you found a bar down the street much much better.
