Mission Flea Market
Hi guys! I've worked for Mission for almost 20 years. I was reading some of these reviews. Working for this family as long as I have I can tell you that their heart is in the community. They believe strongly in helping people supplement their incomes by providing a means for anyone to sell their unwanted items. We are working on paving the East parking lot and have just added more parking and all that came at a high price. The upside is that we have given a free spot to the Vietnam Memorial Museum for over 25 years. We allow church's and other non-profits to sell in 4 spaces free of charge. We've helped raise money for organizations and allow missionaries to ask for donations at our exits. Also, we've given away school supplies, hair cuts, brought in organizations such as the Animal Defense League, San Antonio City Public Service, Santa Rosa Immunization Bus, UT Health Science Center Bus and more. We are always working to be better for our community.

Great Northwest Animal Hospital
I was referred here by a family member.now i know this is a vet office but there was dog pee in the middle of the floor in the lobby area.I did like the Vet,overall she is the reason that im giving 2 stars instead of 1 stars.what i absolutely did not like was how the redheaded male assistant smacked my dog in the nose for flinching or twitching when he got 3 back to back shots.I thought that was rudiculous and then he preceded to tell me that i should pick up that habit too of smacking his nose because of his behavior with nail clippers.on top of that they overcharge by $80-$200.why should 2 puppy booster shots cost $250 all together? I decided to go to ingram park animal hospital and am greatly satisfied with how they treated my dog and was more of a reasonable price compared to this place.do not take your dog here.i never write reviews but i felt this needed to be said

Promised Land House Call Pet Euthanasia
I was so grateful for the kind, compassionate and caring service provided by Dr.Pittman and her husband, Derling. My sweet dog was 14 yrs old and could no longer get up. I knew the day was coming- but you will never be ready when it does. Promised Land made this very difficult and emotionally distressing process less traumatic for me and most importantly for my dear dog, Heather. My sweetheart was in her home, on her pillow in her favorite spot in front of the window. She was allowed to pass peacefully from this Earth in the place she was most comfortable. I loved my dog like a child. Dr. Pittman and Derling were so kind and gentle with my dear Heather. The service they provide is invaluable and I can't understand why anyone faced with this difficult decision would ever put their beloved pet through the trauma of spending their last moments in a vet's office.

Dmc Callaghan's Sports Bar and Grill
This new sports bar is a bit hidden but worth the find. Bring some friends with you because you'll want to stay a while. A bartender named Yamil from Puerto Rico was friendly and knew his Spurs facts...good conversationalist and also an active duty Army Staff Sargent. The place is exceptionally clean and one of only a few that I've found here in San Antonio with a choice of draft beers on the cheap. They also carry your favorite mixed drinks. It's not a dive bar. They have live music and a bar menu that carries somewhat of a version of the Philly Cheese Steak and burgers. The owner named Dana makes sure everyone is on point for service. The bar features a few flat screens along with a huge screen to watch your favorite games. I highly recommend this bar although not five star but not far..who knows after this weekends updates.

Promised Land House Call Pet Euthanasia
Five stars is NOT ENOUGH for this Business. I PRAY you guys don't need this like I did yesterday, but I wanted to share in case you do. My 15 year old lab decided THIS was the weekend (yes a Holiday weekend) to die, and he could not even get up and walk. I will spare you all the details, but it was bad. I'm a RN and you guys KNOW how picky and critical Nurses can be. I found the link online and I called her. The Vet and her technician came to the house and helped my "Lucky" go Home comfortably and with dignity. On a scale of 1 and 10, she is absolutely a 20 with sincere and heart felt compassion.Just wanted to share so you will have a place to call when you need it for your pet so you won't go through the stress we did of not being sure we would find the RIGHT doctor. We ABSOLUTELY found and Angel on Earth.... Linda/RN

Planet Red
Such a great selection of many products for smokers of all different kinds. They offer a wide selection products from a great selection of e-cig or vapor supplies to their collection of beautiful glass tobacco water pipes. The prices are the most reasonable on vape supplies than any other shop I have visited in town. Most important of all is their incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff who are actually willing to spend their valuable time to help teach a beginner vaper like me all of the different tank and battery set ups. Their e-juice selection cannot be beat and they let you test any and every flavor that they have for sale before you buy it so you know exactly what you're getting. Skip the pushy salesmen and outrageous prices of other stores and just come here! You wont regret it.

La Tuna
Wow! I just had lunch at La Tuna and it was great! I had the Chicken Sandwich. There was 4 in our party and we all enjoyed our selections very much. The food was hot, fresh and full of flavor. Looking at the other diners' dishes, I'd have to say everything looked great. The portions were generous. The service was wonderful as well. We had a great lunch and will definitely be back to try out some other dishes. It does get a little crowded at lunchtime, but we got there just before the crowd came in. There is not too much seating indoors, but there are plenty of tables outside in the shade of the pecan trees. Even at a little less than 100 degrees, people outside seemed to enjoy themselves. The shade of the trees really helped making it tolerable.

Ivory Lounge
This nightclub really sets apart from all of the others. It really has such an amazing atmosphere, it is clean, fun, and really nice. We went on a Saturday night. It was a late crowd but man it got packed. The door guy was really nice. We sat on the patio and smoked and he talked to us. He also enforced the dress code which was nice to see. He was very professional about it too. The bartender was hot. She was really accomodating and worked really fast. I hate when I go to bars and no one is husseling to get drinks out. Here it was different. All of the employees were working hard with still being friendly. Drinks were really good. The bartender suggested a cucumber drink that had a chili rim and it was delicious. We found our Saturday night spot for sure.

Ivory Lounge
Beautiful nightclub, the decor is unlike anywhere in San Antonio. As we arrived the door guy was turning away some people who werent dressed right which was reassuring. We arrived around 10 and quickly realized it is a late crowd. So if you are an early bird like us, just hang out and wait because it will get crowded around 11:30. The cocktails were really good too, very inexpensive. We had about 8 drinks all premium (Greygoose-Shiner-Crown-Shots of Patron) and the tab with tax was about only $25. A lot of the tables were reserved for VIP Bottle Service which looked super cool because the bottles were delivered with a sparkler. We had so much fun that we are going to have my friends birthday party there next month.

Leon Valley Veterinary Hospital
Office personnel were wonderful. I needed a Bordatello shot for our pup as my vet was closed and we were leaving our dog in a Doggie Spa for a few days. The girls took all the info and told me I could come right in as we were pressed for time. The young tech came out and she couldn't get the needle in our dog's neck so she gave it in the back. Our dog never even whimpers when our vet gives shots and if my husband hadn't been holding the dog's head she would have bit the girl. I really feel the girl needs a little more training both in giving shots and customer service. I hate to complain as the other girls were so pleasant and very helpful but this one really needed a attitude adjustment and more schooling. Thanks
Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
