3.Arden Courts of San Antonio
15290 Huebner Rd
Of the things I count as blessings in my life, Arden Courts is definitely on that list. A couple of years ago I needed to move my mother, who lived out of state, closer to us due to her health. My wife and I looked at several places and the few we had some interest in would not take a person with early Alzheimer's disease. By chance the Admissions Director for Arden Courts was at one of the locations on business and heard of our story. She suggested we visit Arden Courts. My wife toured as I was out of state. After touring she said was excited and wanted me to tour when I got back. I am really glad I did.\r \r The things that have meant the most to my Mother and to our family are: the staff, the staff and the staff. From the Director to the Office staff, Nursing, Maintenance, Caregivers, and many others, it is clear THEY CARE. They know the resident's names and check on them regularly. They COMMUNICATE with the family on a regular basis. They are involved and supportive. You feel welcome and are encouraged to visit and get involved.\r \r The caregivers are attentive and compassionate. They are always helping and working with the residents. This is a real strength vs. some other locations I have seen. The residents actually get dressed everyday and there are activities and things for them to do. It is a more vibrant setting and culture. At many traditional nursing home or assisted living locations, turnover is a huge problem. While Arden Courts does have turnover, it is far lower is comparison which gives more consistency to the care. This means more peace of mind for us as a family for sure.\r \r One place we visited prior to Arden Courts made a big deal of that fact that they separated the residents by their stages of Alzheimer's Disease. While this seemed a positive at first, I am glad that Arden Courts doesn't do this. It presents many issues and for the resident there is the confusion and disruption of yet another 'relocation' to another room or wing causing them even more stress. There are also issues of yet another staff having to get familiar with the resident which again causes lack of consistency in the care. I have found familiarity, routine and consistency are critical. I find that Arden Courts offers us that.\r \r The Arden Court's facility is kept CLEAN and is well maintained. Another sign of caring. All the rooms are private rooms, an unusual thing today and a real plus as it is hard enough adjusting to not living on your own without also adjusting to a roommate. The rooms are furnished and, although you are encouraged to add personal things to make them more like home, you don't have to spend a lot of added money or time in doing this. Also, the residents can actually go outside at anytime! What a great thing - a feeling of freedom and independence.\r \r While there are numerous assisted living and nursing 'homes' out there, there are relatively few that are real HOMES. I can truly say that Arden Courts feels more like home and family for us and that is a great thing when facing the challenges of having a loved one with Alzheimer's disease.\r \r Thank you for the opportunity to comment on our experience and for taking the time to read this. I appreciate all you do!\r \r Sincerely,\r \r Gary \r

I moved here on February 1, 2015 from Pennsylvania. My son helped me move here by contacting A Place for Mom and they recommended New Forest Estates. I worked with Debra and she stressed this was independent living. It was important to me to still have my car and I have a large one bedroom. I love it. Honestly, I have loved living here since day one. Everyone is so warm, friendly and welcoming and it has been a wonderful experience. My family calls to make sure I still love it and the answer doesn’t change. I feel very comfortable here. My family doesn’t have to worry about me. I’m well taken care of here and everything is offered to you living here as a tenant. And there’s always something going on here and you can be as busy as much as you want to be with activities.
2 Towers Park Ln
Wow... I did not konw such an awesome place even exsisted. I for one have always heard rummors about nursing homes that are pretty sacry. Well, that is definately not the case at Parklane West. My mom was in their rehab (SNF) to recovery from her surgery. She was always treated with respect and they took great care of her. The staff and doctors that provided her care were very knowledgeable and definately showed that they are very capable. I am so thankful to have found such a great place where the staff truly care about the well being of the patients and their families. The therapy department is also top notch!!! Thank you Parklane West for all you have done for my mom, we will definately return if the need ever arises in the future!!! Much love to you all.

25.Autumn Leaves Assisted Living Personal Care Home
6411 Ridge Place St
My sister is at this facility. The RN that owns and operates this facility had stopped giving my sister medication for hallucinations for 5 months and had run out of needles for my sister's insulin. I reported this rn so she sent me a certified letter telling me to move my sister out in 30 days. She also had my sister call me and tell me on a voice message that my sister had 30 days to move out. On this voice message the rn tells my sister that I am ruining my sister's life. This rn also tells other people you can hear in the background that I never thanked her for taking care of my sister but I only complain that she didn't give my sister her medication. The rn goes on to say she has told my sister not to say anything to me. When I reported her the rn started telling my sister she did not have to move out after all. When I talk to my sister, she argues with me that Wilma the RN has told her she can stay. I am now undergoing the process of moving my sister out against her will.
