We have been very happy here with services. We used to go to another day care and the way you managed your business and the dogs is far better than our experience with other place. Winston is happy!

Dogs R US
Horrible place all around. They should be closed down and not allowed to groom or board dogs. I have been there a few times when other people get their dogs back with bites on them, etc. We generally take our golden to get groomed and they seem to do a decent job. Today's experience was completely unprofessional. The owner, who is also the groomer was too busy to talk to my wife when we dropped off our 8 month old golden doodle. So, the person at the front desk took notes, supposedly. We specifically asked to keep our puppies hair nice and long for the winter to help her stay warm and because she looks adorable...we needed a minor trim and even provided a picture as an example. When we picked her up she was completely shaved! The owner was again too busy to talk with me and they offered me a free jacket for our puppy. I then called back when I got home and again the owner was too busy to talk to me. Worst of all the front desk staff were rude and kept saying they understood while also not allowing me to complete a sentence. Now my puppy looks like a 10 or 12 y/o dog and these are many months of puppy hair that were taken away from us. Worst of all they did not even do a good job of buzzing her hair as she has random patches of fur between her paws and chunks of hair taken out where they did leave it a bit longer. WTF!!!

Central Park Pet Retreat
The best dog and cat kennel in Salt Lake City. What a cool place to take your pet when you're on vacation. I love the cute Central Park theme and the mini suites for small dogs and cats. But it was the cool outdoor splash pad that sold me. Highly recommended.

Central Park Pet Retreat
Best Dog Boarding Facility in Salt Lake City. I am very pleased with the friendly staff and how clean the facility is. My dog had a blast in the outside dog park this summer and the inside rooms are spotless.

Desert Dog Daycare
I take my 8 year old pug and 8 month old lab mix here and I love it. I really like that they have the dog do an interview day and they only get one chance. The staff are really dog people and enjoy spending time with the dogs. Both of the dogs get excited when we pull into the parking lot and are pooed when they come home!

Dogs R US
Dogs R Us is the best daycare/boarding/grooming place in Salt Lake, hands down. if you have a young/energetic dog like me, it can be hard to give them enough of an outlet. I take my dog Holly running, walking, hiking, and to dog parks on a regular basis, but it's often times still not enough. In addition to including her in my active lifestyle, I give Holly a couple days a week of daycare at Dogs R Us so she's not getting bored while I'm at work. Dogs R Us has done such a good job taking care of her at daycare that I've taken all of my haircutting business there as well, which they have also excelled at. Their prices are already low, but when you catch them on a sale, the deals are simply excellent. This is a business that I like to support and I will continue to do so in the future.

Old Farm Pet Resort
No one is going to love your pet like you do - except for the people at Old Farm Pet Resort. Cruiser is so excited when we arrive at Old Farm Pet Resort for boarding and they are just as excited to see him and he feels it! Now that Cruiser is an old boy and requires extra care, I didn't hesitate to board him there. They knew him, loved him and handled him with all the TLC he required. They even called to see how Cruiser was doing after he was home. Thank you Leslie for all the kisses you gave Cruiser!

I brought my beagle in for 5 days over Easter weekend. I brought his own food and bedding in. When I picked him up, they first brought out the wrong dog, and then when they did bring my dog out, he was greasy and filthy and his bedding reeked. I took him home, instantly bathed him and immediately the diarrhea and vomiting started. I've boarded my dog several times before since I adopted him two years ago and NEVER had any problems, but now I am on day 4 of super sick puppy and I am out $300 vet bills (and counting!) to figure out what happened to my dog while in their custody. When I called to complain, I was assured that the waiver I signed in order to drop him off excused them from all liability and essentially they were "sorry" I "had a bad experience," but that was pretty much it. I am sorry too. I'm sorry I believed the positive reviews. Do yourself a favor and keep your pets away from this place.

Dogs R US
Love Dogs R Us. We send our dog Thor there 4 to 5 times a week. Thor is a bit of a special needs dog, as he has seizures. The crew at Dogs R Us pay special attention to him on the days when he is extra unsteady, and that we appreciate. And Thor loves it, as he practically drags us from the car into the building every morning. All in all, glad we found this gem of a daycare facility in Salt Lake. Would highly recommend them to anyone looking to board their dog.
Tips & Advices
Pets that do not get along with other animals may incur an additional fee. Some facilities have special solitary sleeping and play animals for these types of pets.
A checklist for what to bring to a pet kennel includes:
  • Vaccination records
  • A favorite toy or blanket
  • Food and feeding instructions (if the pet has dietary restrictions or is a picky eater)
  • Medication (if necessary, in its original bottle and with written instructions)
Some pet kennels have veterinarians as part of their daily staff, while others only have vets part time or on call.
Most kennels can provide basic care such as administering medications, but owners of pets with serious medical issues should choose a facility with a veterinarian on call.
Bordetella, commonly known as kennel cough, is highly contagious, and most dogs catch it at least once in their lifetimes. As such, all dogs should be vaccinated at least 7 days before boarding.
