Al's Volvo Service
The only reason he has one star is because it does not allow me to give none! Al quotes you a price, and then charges you more. I was going in to get my timing belt changed and he said $480. After it was all said and done he charged me $797 because he felt that the cam shafts needed to be fixed as well. Not even 24 hrs later my Check Engine light came on. After researching and checking what the code was about, it had to do with my cam shaft and timing belt. When i called to ask Al what was going on he said he did not recognize the code and that it was an "aftermarket code". When told him what the code meant he tried to blame it on the fact that someone else had messed with the cam shaft and that he did his nest to fix the "amateurs mistake". Funny thing is that I have never had anyone work on the timing belt or cam shaft before him. After I brought that to his attention, he continued you to find excuses. He tried to tell me that it is because I did not get regular oil changes. I have receipts from all my oil changes and the paperwork. I get regular oil changes ever 3,000 miles like you are supposed to. He was incredibly rude over the phone and unreasonable. I WOULD NOT ever recommend him and his shop. They are trying to find the people that do not know anything about cars and take advantage of them. Because of the mistakes that he and his shop made, I now have to bring my car into another shop to get his work fixed. If you like spending a lot of money for poor service go ahead and go with Al's Volvo. Good luck though!

Al's Volvo Service
BE AWARE & CAUTIOUS!!!! Al’s Volvo comes of as a mom& pop with son business but their CROOKS. I took a 1956 Mercedes for restoration gave Al $70,000.00 more than a year has gone by and I had to argue with Al and family to get a invoice on how much money has been spent. The only item they completed was the engine and partial carburetor the invoice showed he charged me over $20,000.00. I decided to have someone else complete the restoration and asked Al to return the rest of my money “he said he didn’t have it to return to me” I’ll get my money when I get it” is what he said. Wouldn’t even work out a payment plan with me. I guess I have to get an attorney and go to court. THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD I gave them a one rating because I couldn’t give them none or the best scam award!!Their new location is 89 W SHELLEY AVE.SLC UT.

Vientiane Auto Repair
I have had four repairs on different cars. Soukhan fixes them right, the first time, on time--- and the prices are amazing. BMW wanted $3500 to replace two catalytic converters. Vietiane did it for $1511.For a transmission repair, estimates at dealer were $3 to $4 thousand. Soukhan did it for $899. Can't beat it. Mike Eberlein

J & G Transmissions
Classic bait and switch mechanics, don't fall for the free diagnostics! Told me it was a minor problem then tried to charge me $2600. When I declined the scam they tried to hit me with 4 hours labor at $110 an hour. Truck drove in with a little noise and had to be towed away. Criminals! Do not take your vehicle there, never again!

I feel like I can trust them and they truly care. I have found the great place I was looking for!!
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
