Adan's Landscape Maintenance
We had a large yard that had become completely overrun with weeds and overgrown plants and trees. It was a huge project. We called Adan out of the phonebook not knowing anyone who had used him. Adan was on time for the estimate and knew the names of the plants we had in the yard. He wanted to hand weed which is exactly what I wanted done. He and his crew again showed up on time and they did an excellent job. They cleaned up everything. We are very pleased with their work.

Smith & Enright Landscaping
Called on 5-27-14 to inquire on Residential Landscaping design and maintenance services; spoke with Selena, Office Mgr and Cust Support. Selena informed me they are doing mostly commercial but would need to speak with another dept. My response was that I was not looking for someone who would need to squeeze me in their schedule. Their web site is misleading (www.smithenright.com)

McShane's Landscape Supply
Been told by locals and previous employees how bad McShane's is since Steve purchased it. Found out today when I drove 30 minutes for a workshop that evidently was canceled. No one bothered to call or email. Steve wouldn't even come out to explain what happened.

Unique Landscape & Maintenance
We hired Unique Landscape to give our front yard a make over and install our water sprinkler system for our fruit trees. Finally my front lawn is beautifully landscape. Brian and his team are great to work with. He provided a detailed plan with a virtual picture and a VERY detailed estimate before any work was started. He was professional and we highly recommend him.
Tips & Advices
Employers must conduct all required training in a language and vocabulary that workers can understand. Training must demonstrate the hazards of operating certain machinery, like stone cutters and splitters, as well as how to use them appropriately. It's important to verify that your landscape contractor has taken the necessary steps to fully train its personnel and that the appropriate safety precautions are in place.
Check the specific regulations for your area, and verify that your contractor has the necessary licenses. These may include a state contractor's license, pesticide license, CDL driver's license and license to sell and purchase nursery stock.
Landscape work is not cheap, so it's in your best interest to make sure that it's done to your requirements and that you get the best contractor to do the job. Homeowners should know how much they'll need to pay for the contractor's service as well as how they will be billed for this work. Ask about any design fees, if quoted prices are fixed or estimates, and what the payment process will be. Clarifying these items in the beginning will prevent any surprise expenses.
Yes. Homeowners should require that the contractor submit certificates verifying compliance with safety, insurance, workers' compensation and drug and alcohol testing programs. This will give you peace of mind that the contractor has gone through all the steps under industry regulations.
Yes. Every good contractor should have a list of recently completed jobs that you can see in their portfolio. They should also have a list of references that you can contact, or properties that you can see in person.
